| Disregarding all the "my opinion is objectively right and so I'm going to insult anyone that disagrees with it" going on in this thread for the moment, I'd like to point out that the animation in the second half wasn't all that great. Sure, the art style was interesting, but quality-wise it was pretty half-assed. Paranoia Agent looked better, and that came out six years ago. No real problems with the content of the episode itself, though I can see where both parties are coming from (so long as they bother to explain their points). I just think they do a better job animating it when they go with their usual style. |

| Oh dear, I completely lost it over "my nasal hymen!" Now, I've got a few things to say, and I'm sure this will offend, but after reading 8 pages of this dreck, I feel like I've earned the right to retaliate. First off, anyone who was confused by the storytelling is quite frankly an idiot. It was not at all difficult to understand, and if you needed to watch it twice to understand it, then that's your problem, not the show's. Sorry the show somehow managed to miss the lowest common denominator (a surprise considering how crude and tasteless it is), but not pandering to dimwits is quite a different thing than bad storytelling. Second off, to people complaining about how depressing the second part is: no shit! That's the point geniuses. Thirdly, stop defending this show as mindless drivel. While it's admirable that you wish to defend this show, the defense "You're looking into this too much, it's just fart jokes, what were you expecting?" is not helping matters at all. As musotaku pointed out, this show really does show subtle tricks. The fashion commentary was one example, and as someone else pointed out, the ghost manifesting because he was really dead inside is quite clever, as well as a commentary on society. It actually reminded me of the play "Death of a Traveling Salesman", and I can't help but wonder if there was inspiration there. This series isn't really that brainless, though it *is* primarily a slapstick comedy. |

| WHAT? I didn't expect people to be saying this was the worst episode so far. That Gintoki voice made part one AWYEAH, but then part two I was thinking "Oh, they'll do something hilarious with this I can tell". But then it ended and I was just... what? It was like, sad... And the Mind Game art style made it so much sadder for some reason. BUT I LOVED IT. It was like "Wait what? What is this?" I love when shows make me do that. Favorite episode so far, for me. Also THAT "FLY AWAY". Someday I'll get it out of my head... |
| Huh! Crazy first episode as usual but part 2 was new and different! I lliked how we saw the ghost being created and I wonder if we'll see that sort of thing again. The art style was fitting for the episode, but I dont want to see it again! Once was enough! If I want to watch Graveyard of the Fireflies, I'll watch Graveyard of the Fireflies! |

| That second episode really caught me off guard. It was interesting in how they changed the perspective to where you get to see the ghost before it becomes one. I can’t think of any character whose life sucks as much as that guys. At least he was able to get one thing right. |
| People who are angry because they didn't get the 2nd part...it's because you don't understand why there's a change in animation style I'm pretty sure it's a reference/homage to an animation style has been done in many animes such as paradise kiss, kemonozume, natsu no sora, etc. where there's cuts of scenery between events. If you thought it was "boring," that's because you watch too much of the same kind of anime. |

| Panty and Stocking is a deeply parodic anime. Not only does it show the take of a Japanese studio on western animation (like Power Puff Girls or Two Stupid Dogs), but it is also grafted on the studio's very own creative desires and social criticism. In the first part, as usual, the toilet humor along with the great storyboarding use a bodily product (boogers) to deliver strong action scenes while putting some modern issues in perspective (the food industry). This is consistent through all the anime and is one of its achievements. Another of its achievements is to sometime venture towards more experimental borders, for example the warholian episode 11 on the couch, or Chuck to the Future and its exploration of the inner drive. This is especially true for the second part of episode 5. Vomiting Point (a reference to Vanishing Point) adds to the randomness of the series' content a rupture in its visuals. Let us not forget Daten City is more or less given as a western archetype, and a more explicit critique of certain aspects of Japanese society calls for such a rupture. And in a way it reinforces how strange the everyday life can appear, and therefore its absurdity. That said, I didn't find anything depressing, since all that is linked to serious matters like preferential employment and alcoholism ends up covered in puke, only to leave intact the love of a struggling father for his little girl. |

| 1st half was disgusting, but the 2nd half was surprisingly good , I really liked the story and the animation was a great shift for the whole glum atmosphere. The best part was that the old man got his lil girl the autograph :D |
| 1st half was disgusting, I mean nosepicking and boogers? Really Gainax? Really??? And Part B was certainly an improvement. It gave off a Paranoia Agent feel with it's animation style. Hopefully next episode will be even more of an improvement compared to this episode's first half, that was really stupid. |

| (rewatching) Boogers and vomit. That was seriously some extreme nose gold mining. That "CENSORED" was hilarious. And then there's Vomiting Point... proving they can also be ridiculously dramatic at the same time. Dang that was one ugly kid. |
