| I realised I'm rating Bleach much too harshly. I guess seeing some people say it's genius and amazing just flips my "wth, it's a generic shounen, you twat" switch. Sure the Chad being missing was about as mysterious as my left toe, Ichigo getting his powers was as predictable as 2012 being a fake, Ramen guy looking like Aizen once again, but nevermind. In bleach standards it was reasonably paced, finally brought up Chad, he actually met the x-ecutioners, the ringing three times has to mean something, I'd hate for it to be another page waster. Seeing Inoue being less shy and asking if she could go with him was nice too, as much as I dislike Inoue x Ichi, it's good to see her actually trying. |

reaght said: Its too slooow!!!! I dont care for the '3 times call thing' and Inoue wanting to find Chad--> that would be fine if she get atleast some clue's or something, not only bringing a basket of bread and then go away without knowing anything new. Its pointless. , Frankly, the problem of bleach pacing is NOT those things. Its the panel placement. Kubo , unlike other mangaka in shonen genre, draws his manga more in a way of episode storyboards, than in a way of manga. While some panels of MOTIONS can be skipped, kubo just loooves to draw every little turn, motion, suspense face, etc. Thats what slows the pacing down and thats why the pacing is comparably more faster in volume format. NOw the things you did not like, actually serve purposes: - The ringing three times has to have a huge importance. There's A LOT of lore about saying something three times, doing something three times, etc, both in japan and in the western world. The legend of bloody mary for example requires you to chant the name Bloody Mary three times for the demon to appear, there's also a folk myth that faeries can't say the same lie three times in row. 3 is also the very first odd prime number and the first unique prime number. 3 also is the THIRD heegner number in math. Its also third unique fibonacci number. 3 is also a triangle, which, due to having three points, never changes its form, unless the degrees are changed. Even the earliest "simple math" contained three main things - one, two and "many". Overall there are three primary colors that make up all the others, atoms are made of three main parts(protons, electrons, neutrons), three galaxy classifications and earth is a third planet in the solar system. In religion, and not only christianity, you have the holy trinity(trinity in some form exists in hinduism, budhism and taoism too). And three abrahamic religions (islam, christianity, judaism) are FULL of number three. Also language-wise, three is prunounced in same way as chinese word quivalent of alive(four being dead). Then there's saying that "third times a charm" and that bad luck comes in three. NOt to mention the saying that death knocks three times. Story wise we had three friends, each arc focused on three races(hollow, human, shinigami> hollow, quincy, shinigami>quincy, human, shinigami> etc), ichigo has three main friends that represent three different powers, the last arc had three top villains and top three espada and Aizen theoretically had three forms after turning into cocoon. The executioners we have seen so far also almost always have came in three(ginjou, buttler, loli and now buttler, capguy, woman). I am pretty much convinced that the number three and calling three times is VERY important for the story. now as for inoue's scene - it serves a simple purpose of showing us that chad IS NOT at home. It reinforces the fact that he is nowhere to be found (and kubo has already stated that in one of upcoming arcs, char will play a huge role). So far, while chapters might seem short, each chapter successfuly built up the start of arc - we got the background how ichigo feels being powerless, his silent resentment of others having powers while he does not, the way his friends now live. Then we got introduced into the new characters and the mystery around them was built up also causing ichigo to feel completely powerless. At the same time we got foreshadowed hints that we will hear more on Isshin, Urahara, the badge, etc. The problem is kubo's storyboard style. If we had an entire volume of this already, this build up would feel damn awesome, but currently most people loose the build up when having to wait for a week till next chapter. Anyway, since we will most likely have some sort of break in between christmas and new year, i expect next chapter to have quite a huge cliffhanger. |

| I like how their base is so unlike Vizards' one. They actually have a bar, classy design and a nice leather sofa! Ichigo sure went to them fast, considering how he went about accepting Vizards' help. |

| ANd I just noticed that the chapter is filled with three.s Chapter 431. Ichigo had to call three times to get to Ginjou. Xcution hq is at the third floor(we even see the elevator button for three). Inside there are three members. The room we see in page 17 has three chairs and three barlamps. Ginjou specifically says that they cleared three floors above and three floors bellow. E letter which is ommited from Xcution card, is basically reverse 3 Apart from that we have a constant symbolism of panels showing crescent moon and crosses. EVERY chapter after Ginjou said his full name contains it |

| HaHaHaHaHa!!!!!!!! What a funny chapter! "Our purpose is to restore your Shinigami powers." HaHaHa!!!!!! I've finally realized that until now I've been reading this manga in a wrong way. I shouldn't look at Bleach as good or bad. I should consider it total BS. Next time I'll make sure to switch my brain off before reading it. Maybe then I'll actually enjoy it. |

I think these guys won't manipulate ichigo life, same as vizards arc 1. sure they will want something in return but all i can see is not worth to go all the way to ichigo and restore his powers out of nowhere. as you see, shinji also comes out of no where and then he told ichigo about his hollow powers. offered him to join us. all things were pointing that shinji and vizards group had some ulterior motives but there was nothing really, which required ichigo help. they just wanted their revenge against aizen and they were all captains level with prohibited bankai + hollow mask. still they asked ichigo help. in the end ichigo left behind all of them and went to hueco mundo and when he came back. all vizards were already down. Though if story become something like this. then i can agree with restoring powers and some good xecution motives. xD Ginjou kuugo is the son of aizen and he want him to rescue his father from soul society. before asking him to rescue his father. he will tell ichigo about his past, how soul society threw him to human world and execute his mother. that was ordered by soul king. after that how he spent a sad life in human world. his father aizen wanted revenge and want to destroy soul king because he is the bad villain and then damn you. you came out of nowhere to put a cold water on my father dreams. first you rescued rukia. then you make a ruckes in hueco mundo and then your final getsuga. so now take responsibility what you did against my father. ofcourse in return i will restore your powers, also i will tell you hidden secrets about your family. actually you mother is the daughter of soul king. that mean you're the grand son of soul king. your father was deceiving you all along and your mother is not dead. she joined royal guards to protect his father from my father aizen. your father didn't tell you about anything. the reason is because he was with soul king to execute my mother. that's why my father aizen let you live from the beginning, so you can see your mother and father ulterior schemes. today we had all problems because of your grand father (soul king), father (isshin) and mother. they ruined my life, executed my mother and ruined my father plans. now you know its all about fathers and mothers. join our excutioner group. we will restore your powers, so you can easily go to soul socity and rescue my fahter with some good plan. after that we will execute the big bad villain soul king. |

Chad is my favourite character so that he's gonna be important in this arc is great and certainly not why i'm hating on this chapter Its just that for the last 3 chapter there is only some foreshadowing, and it gets annoying. Every chapter i'm hoping that there's gonna be some kind of revelation but it just isnt coming. I love how foreign readers think they know better than the mangaka and forget that it's CAREFULLY CATERED for a young, casual-reading market All I care about is: WILL SHOUNEN JUMP USE RUKIA'S DRAWING!? Actually in one interview, Kubo has stated that he does not write Bleach for a specific age-group. So when you said it's 'carefully catered', it's not true. He just writes whatever he likes. Kubo also recycled many scenes. There was a panel where he plagiarised from One Piece about 5 months before. 2ch caught on to it. You think only foreign market makes fun of Kubo, but many Japanese fans do the same. reaght said: I have to say, i didnt thought of the number 3 in the symbolic way for a second, but that doesnt make it more interesting. Bleach is filled with symbolisms and other useless parallels. Kubo has done this as far back as pre-SS. These 'easter eggs' make you think OH! IT'S SO INTERESTING! But has ANY of those symbolisms and parallels led us anywhere? Just because something is interesting doesn't make it useful. Now I'm not complaining about the chapter, but Bleach has disappointed me so much over the past 5 years I am cautious about being optimistic. If you had not placed too much hope in a chapter, you won't be disappointed. I'm not too impressed with the character designs either and I'm not too bothered with them. So take them with a grain of salt. I mean, Kubo has designed many interesting characters but guess where they ended up. That's right. |

These 'easter eggs' make you think OH! IT'S SO INTERESTING! But has ANY of those symbolisms and parallels led us anywhere? Just because something is interesting doesn't make it useful. actually wrong. if one knew symbolism one would be able to guess a lot of things. For example: - That gin will stab aizen and that Aizen will die and "revive" in another form from it. Considering both gin's weapon, arc title and aizen's god status refers to the re-enactment of the Jesus getting stabbed with lance of longinus, dieing and reviving anyway. - If one followed the symbolism on how Ichigo bests his opponents, one would have easily have guessed that Ichigo will fight aizen in non-equal fight and be millioon times more powerful thank him. After all Aizen's aspect was absolute power. Just like Renji's was brute power(Ichigo bested renji with brute power), Kenpachi's battle resolve(ichigo bested him with his will to fight), Byakuya's speed (ichigo outspeeded him), Ulquioras "despair"(Ichigo caused Ulquiora to feel the despair of facing way stronger opponent, a monster) and in a same way Aizen is absolute power and outr-tricking stronger opponents with prepared tools. So the only fitting way would be for Aizen's skill-rival Ichigo to best him in all shinigami aspects and Aizen's intellectual rival Urahara to best him with his intellect and trickery. - Each espada died according to its element of death. - Vaizards appeared as ominous beings using symbolism of masks. so its only obvious that their ominous appearance and seemingly-ill intent was just a mask as well. Even now we have things like Ichigo representing grim reaper in his final form and Ishida representing an angel in his final form, suggesting that they will either tagteam or we will get a rematch between them. Now what about xcution? - unlike previous times, the whole "number three" thing is outright stated more than once in the chapter. You have E being committed, you have Ginjou call needing three calls and ginjou specifically stating that there's a reason for that. Then GInjou specifically says that they cleared three floors below and three above and so on. Unlike previous paralels this one is outright spelled, so we can expect not only symbolism and plot movements according to it, but actual meaning to the story. BakaKawaii said: szugioh said: I knew the card was a key. I bet they want him to get his powers back so they can execute the "soul king" <--(input a proper noun related to the bleach world.) She'd need some Kubo Powerup to even get to Chad or Ishida's level though, doubt she'd ever get near Ichigo's. Let's not foreget the family she is in. Its very likely that everyone in the family has an exceptionally huge power growth rate. Ichigo will obviously have to face urahara one day(because urahara is basically a "fallen hero" who thinks of usual shonen ideals of "changing the world" as dangerous and unneeded and favors conservative status quo). Now Urahara is a trickster, so its very likely that he will do dirty stuff. And having someone you care face you trying to stop you is dirty enough. Overall this has quite a few arcs in store now. I foresee at least Isshin backstory, Ichigo having to break out aizen from the prison, some sort of quincy rematch and the final go against soul king as currently most possible plots. and those plots also would most likely be affected by the little bits like "something being wrong" with inoue, Mayuri's "revenge mission and interest in hueco mundo", chad's disappearance and so on) |

| So? It took Ichi ever so long to get to the level he was at, and that was with super asspull power ups, if Kubo decides to make Karin relatively useful that means he messes with the power levels even more. He's not a fallen hero, he's more the King's Knight. Blindly serving his king's ideals. Kubo has already declared Ishida a fodder character, I don't see a rematch anytime in the future. Ryuuken on the other hand, possibly. Mayuri had his fun in Szayel's lab. I don't think revenge is on his agenda. |

Ryuuken on the other hand, possibly. Mayuri had his fun in Szayel's lab. I don't think revenge is on his agenda. Yes but Ichigo did it without the direct help of urahara or any higher power. The time Urahara did actually help, Ichigo got quite a high power boost + another one for future. Now we do NOT know at what level of power Karin is now. Maybe she is not human and already a shinigami now? Its quite clear that she has been going to Urahara's store without others knowing it. So we have around a year of timeline at which Karin MIGHT have been developing powers and with the fact that Ichigo was NOT developing powers and was powerless all that time, the gap should be lesser. Anyway, the main point is for Karin not to be stronger. She is a family to Ichigo, his sister. Do you think he would actually WANT to hurt her, even if he was stronger(that is if Ichigo regains his mugetsu level of power, if not then they might as well be equal)? AS for Urahara, his dialogue with Aizen implies that Urahara does not just "serve" the king. He thinks that changing something is utterly futile, because of how Sking is connected to the foundations of universe itself. Thats why Aizen goes to his "winner's logic vs Looser's logic" speech before getting sealed. Urahara does not just "follow", he thinks its FUTILE to do anything against it. Ishida might be fodder now, but we do not know what happens next. We all saw what kind of power up does Shinigami final form gave Ichigo. Heck, what kind of powerup being in complete synchronicity with ones own power give to ichigo For all we know this event right now is exactly what will cause the rift between Ishida and ichigo and change Ishida's motivations. The man is driven by pride. And pride can lead to many things. Ryuuken on other hand is fishy too. He did not help in previous war, his exact relationship with Isshin is left ambiguous and he overall seems very busy. I would not be surprised if he was teaching a quincy army secretly (after all quincies are not a race, thus anyone with sufficient power can be trained into being one). Mayuri, apparently is STILL having fun in there, when we left the shinigami side of the story. We still do not know what he found there(and kubo already stated that the findings there will have huge impact latter on), we still do not know what is exact connection to urahara and why urahara bailed him out of jail(imo they are brothers or clones of some sorts, which would explain Mayuri's hatred and enjoyment of self-mutilation). Mayuri specifically also stated that "after this all is over, Ichigo will be sorry that he survived". Last time Mayuri was in that mood, quincy cult went almost extinct. |

| What are you talking about? He'd been handed power ups and help from everyone each step of the way. The more recent one was help from his dad, sure that help was "sit down and meditate", but it was help nonetheless. The gap should not be lesser at all, pre pointless power-loss it's easy to say Ichigo was one of the most powerful in the world, making Karin even a fraction as powerful would be ridiculous. That's why I'd love to see it, even though in reality all he'd need to do is tap her on the back of the head, family strife always gets me. Even so, no matter his belief on how the world can't be changed, that doesn't change the fact that he's following and serving the spirit king. As I said, blindly following the kings ideals. No matter how much pride the little man has, as long as Kubo hates quincy there will be no rematch, there will be no use for Ishida other than being fodder. He was reluctant enough to help his own son, he stopped fighting as a quincy for years as well as cut off contact from Isshin, to live a normal life, why in the world would he want to go and recruit an army? Sure a director of a bunch of hospitals has that time spare. How do you know that? Have you read a future chapter which has put Mayuri back in HM and not in SS? Urahara bailed him out of jail because he's a scientist and was competent enough to take his place as captain of R+D, in my lovely opinion. So one rogue captain is going to go against the guy who's helped SS a bunch of times and it's going to be alrighty? Okie dokie. |

I actually liked the last one, and was hoping that Kubo would manage to keep me interested. No such luck. This chapter felt clumsy and rushed, without anything of intrigue happening. The "cliffhanger" left me rolling my eyes, because of course Ichigo was going to get his powers back in a mirror of the Vizard arc. It's just what Kubo does. But what am I saying!? Obviously the parallel represents the rewinding of time, rebirth, and the infinite loop of events that we as human beings are trapped in, despite the linear nature of time! Right!? Right? No. |

I have to say the new guys saying they want to get his powers back for him was a little too direct of a motivation. While i don't like how it occured i am still looking forward to seeing the why too. P.S. lately the title chapters have really sucked. Might as well not have them. Sort of like the half of year with the title as Decide. |

I've finally realized that until now I've been reading this manga in a wrong way. I shouldn't look at Bleach as good or bad. I should consider it total BS. Next time I'll make sure to switch my brain off before reading it. Maybe then I'll actually enjoy it. I've been doing that for so long, it's not even funny. |

Fai said: actually wrong. if one knew symbolism one would be able to guess a lot of things. For example: - That gin will stab aizen and that Aizen will die and "revive" in another form from it. Considering both gin's weapon, arc title and aizen's god status refers to the re-enactment of the Jesus getting stabbed with lance of longinus, dieing and reviving anyway. Such symbolism of the rising of Christ is not unique to Aizen nor Kubo. Szayel risen from this the same way from Nemu's ovaries. Such incorporation of the rising of Christ is widely used by many authors. It's fine if you are impressed by it, but don't expect other people to feel awed the same way. - If one followed the symbolism on how Ichigo bests his opponents, one would have easily have guessed that Ichigo will fight aizen in non-equal fight and be millioon times more powerful thank him. No, it's because Aizen is over-pimped. After all Aizen's aspect was absolute power. Aizen's power followed the old chinese/japanese adage of hypnotic power believing in the intangibles, which evolved into something else with the help of the hougyoku. Just like Renji's was brute power(Ichigo bested renji with brute power), Kenpachi's battle resolve(ichigo bested him with his will to fight), Byakuya's speed (ichigo outspeeded him), I don't see how these are symbolisms. These are merely ploys to show how 'great' Ichigo as the main hero/protagonist is. It's a standard formula. Along the way he will have his lows and he will lose, he will become upset, but eventually he will emerge victorious in various ways. In his journey he will hone several aspects of his fighting techniques. They aren't symbolisms per se. They are a flat attributes of a character, ANY character, in ANY story. Characters fight in different ways, have different strengths, possess different weaknesses. Ulquioras "despair"(Ichigo caused Ulquiora to feel the despair of facing way stronger opponent, a monster) and in a same way Aizen is absolute power and outr-tricking stronger opponents with prepared tools. So the only fitting way would be for Aizen's skill-rival Ichigo to best him in all shinigami aspects and Aizen's intellectual rival Urahara to best him with his intellect and trickery. Ulquiorra didn't feel despair because he's facing a way stronger opponent. He had always despaired. All these are not perfectly crafted scenarios. You're overlooking many flaws. One of which is why did Gin pick the worst time to betray Aizen. Why did he betray him when Aizen was at his most powerful, why not before when he could do something about it? It was sheer inanity. - Each espada died according to its element of death. - Vaizards appeared as ominous beings using symbolism of masks. so its only obvious that their ominous appearance and seemingly-ill intent was just a mask as well. These are useful symbolisms, but the ones you mentioned such as "The chapter contained '3' because it's chapter #431, or there are 3 stools in the room, that there are 3 persons in the bar..." That's taking things too far. And yes, the Espadas died according to their elements of death, but these are merely shallow representations of objects or characters and the connections end there. His symbolisms aren't as deep and though provoking as you think. They serve no advancement to the story or whatsoever. It merely made the characters seem interesting, but only for 1/5th of a second, as these characters have been doomed to die from the beginning as many readers expected. They are dispensable villains for Ichigo and the shinigamis, hence such symbolisms are practically only skin-deep. Even now we have things like Ichigo representing grim reaper in his final form and Ishida representing an angel in his final form, suggesting that they will either tagteam or we will get a rematch between them. Do you mean Ulquiorra? I didn't see where you get Ishida as an angel. All that is nice and dandy, but it remains to be seen. I will only take it with a grain of salt. ^_^v I really didn't want to do this, and I don't want to continue with it - this has spiraled into something which iisn't even about the chapter anymore. I only had to explain myself because you had the need to correct everyone's opinion every chapter. It's a little tiring. |

Such incorporation of the rising of Christ is widely used by many authors. And thats nothing about awe, thats just pointing out on how certain plotpoint is foreshadowed by countless connected themes. No, it's because Aizen is over-pimped. Which is exactly the main point of Aizen's character. He takes pride in his power and his mind. Aizen's power followed the old chinese/japanese adage of hypnotic power believing in the intangibles, which evolved into something else with the help of the hougyoku. And in a sense, Aizen was proud of his strength, just as Byakuya was proud of his speed and so on. Every major opinion battle was set in a way so to say, to humiliate him. I don't see how these are symbolisms. Bu the point is how Ichigo bests them. Byakuya was not bested at kidou and Renji was not spam-killed by special techniques. Every major opponent battle was set in a way to deny the major aspect of the opponent, by having Ichigo surpass him at that. Of course its not perfectly crafted. Everything has its minor points, there's njo perfect manga or perfect story or perfect character. The point is in what direction and HOW these fights went, not their quality(byakuya fight was entirely ruined by hichigo for me, for example). Its the underlying thread behind the fights themselves that matter. All these are not perfectly crafted scenarios. You're overlooking many flaws. One of which is why did Gin pick the worst time to betray Aizen. Why did he betray him when Aizen was at his most powerful, why not before when he could do something about it? It was sheer inanity. Why did a mere soldier stab a son of god who was already dieing with a mere lance? Why is not important. Revenge is something past the rationality. Maybe he only now had the chance to do that(aizen never allowed him to get close anyway and only when he got the power, he lowered his guard). - Death aspects also almost perfectly portray their backstories, personalities, etc. Yes its nothing deep but its symbolism. - "Chapter 431" was me merely pointing out that I am talking about Chapter 431 and then listing the points. - The chairs and lamps are part of the symbolism. Kubo does not have assistants, he does not usually even add backgrounds and is very well known to love designing stuff. Thus its very likely that when designing xcution room, he had in mind the symbolism behind the xcution and the importance of 3. All villains are almost always doomed to die, especially the fodder-goons group. No1, Np2, No3 had way too short appearances in the manga, yet that does not change the symbolism. No one is saying its deep, but its there. Shonen genre is never about deep symbolism or underlying messages, its about the ordinary main character kicking crap out of enemies and doing cool poses. However the symbolism, even if shallow is appreciated and, at least for me, separated it from other shonen manga like, for example Naruto or dragonball, where the underlying messages are pointed out directly. Its not as deep as, for example, normal manga genres like seinen and mangas like 20th Century Boys, Pluto, Blame, etc, but its deep enough for shonen genre cliches. Do you mean Ulquiorra? I didn't see where you get Ishida as an angel. NO, i mean their final forms, which are obviously incomplete and weakened by rushing to them. Ishida(last page of chapter 124 and onwards) in his "temporary-loose-all-powers" final form looks like one-winged angel. Not to mention that there are generally a lot of angel imagery of angels with bows and arrows and light swords. Ichigo in his "temporary-loose-all-powers" final form is clad almost completely in black, which usually is associated with demonic influence or death(in this case). Not to mention his vaizard/hollow/hichinator form masks. And then there's also the thing that his main weapon is close-range cutting weapon. Shinigami also are the "death gods", so the pinnacle of the death god power, obviously would be a grim reaper. All that is nice and dandy, but it remains to be seen. I will only take it with a grain of salt. ^_^v So do I, every manga, especially shonen can go to crapper fast (refer to D.gray-man, naruto, dbz, even to the better ones like berserk). Its just that so far, Bleach seems to NOT have gone to the crapper yet(I still prefer the pre-ss bleach with the obscurity and monstriousness of hollows to the post-rukiakidnapped bleach, but its still decent) |

I think you're trying to analyze a manga as a literature piece, they're not even close on the same scale. Sure manga has foreshadowing, and certain symbolisms, but thats it(and only few manga even do that). Trust me, Kubo did not draw and design the xcution room according to the importance of the number 3. The only reason we don't get backgrounds sometimes, its because Kubo does not get time to do them, and we've seen karkura town, soul society, etc. So when he introduces a new place, of course he's going to show us how it looks. I think you're taking the number "3" way to far, and trust me, I've done my share of literature courses, more than I've ever wanted to be exposed to, and I see no importance to it. |

He had Hax piled on another Hax it took 300 chapters for him to get injured and even then it was a fake. It took a hidden hax to beat him even then he STILL Survived and was imprison for 1880020000 years why not eternity. I'll Tell you why, it's A BIG WALLBANGER. As well as ichigo "losing his Shinigami powers" when Rukia and Ishida lost their and regained in despite espicaly the latter. All that is nice and dandy, but it remains to be seen. | Just when I was starting to see no point in keeping this going, bam. Granted, Ichigo getting his Shinigami powers back isn't quite the hook I was hoping for, but the sooner we get some proper action, the better. I'm still not entirely sure why Bleach kept going after defeating Aizen, but I can't be bothered trying to question logic with Bleach anymore. |

Perhaps they're the same people who helped Ichigo's dad to get back his powers as well... ? yeah sounds like it...the only thing i'm looking forward to from this is finally and hopefully some kind of explanation about Sado and Orihime's powers. Hopefully we'll get some more info on ichi's dad too. It was also nice to see uuryu's dad again. |
