So we finally get the revelation of what was inside the coffin that Tsubakiri had, and it was actually the corpse of another Momotarou member, that willingly became a puppet for Tsubakiri (I wonder why though, are we getting an explanation for that? Tsubakiri mentioned it was to settle his regrets...). And oh well, Shiki is done for, that abillity is way to powerful for Shiki to be able to defeat. The truth is that Tsubakiri can't do much without another corpse, but this way it's hard for Shiki to win this, and by the end of the episode, all of his organs were squished, and he wasn't in a good shape at all.
I'm glad they actually gave an explanation on why Shiki is "special", and is actually because he is the son of a really powerful Oni, and that's why they knew about Shiki too. My bet is that Shiki's father was involved in killing Kishin (Shiki's biological father, if that's how Oni work), but didn't have the courage to kill a baby, so he decided to create him (as was shown in episode 1).
Jin's fight against Yomogi was also really interesting, and it's good to know that Yomogi's skill isn't just the whole powerful attack that was shown before, and Oni's blood can actually destroy it. Yomogi thought Jin would panic in a closed space, little did she know that was like an Hotel for him.
And then Ikari joins the fight, and honestly, his reaction to Yomogi was completely valid, like her outfit doesn't seem to be confortable honestly. And I think we all agree that her assets are unrealistically big.
Now, they need to explain this Oni's blood better in the future, because why was Ikari's abillity limited to 3 times a day? It didn't seem to be that powerful honestly, and that seems like a big drawback. It was smart to make him be quite fast, because that seems a really plausible explanation to why he was able to confront Yomogi, since all of her skills take some time to take form, so he's the perfect counter to her (although only with these boots I suppose). I'm curious to see what Ikari can do with his blood, since it seems his abillity makes him different weapons each time.
Anyways, Mudano is back in the picture, and alongside Yusurube and Homare is able to destroy that wall, without hurting the tourists. It's interesting to see that they didn't want to hurt the humans, which contradicts the vision people have of them, in which they are perceived as human killing ruthless demons. It just makes you question what's the real backstory of the Oni here.
Yomogi is now surrounded by Oni, and exausted her power, so I wonder if she's going to be able to escape, but she did take her jacket off, and you know what it means for a character to take their clothes off.
Overall, the episode was quite good, and I'm curious to see how this arc is going to be resolved. However, I was really disappointed with Yusurube's character. I knew from the extra chibi episodes they have on the Anime's youtube channel he woould fill the "pervert" troupe for the group, but I felt like his lines in this episode were way too excessive. Homare should have ran off that place honestly. They never hinted this side of him before either, and considering the tension this episode had, this scene was kind of weird. It was also weird how they were taking their sweet time to go save Shiki, Jin and the others. I didn't feel the rush they should be having at least.
Other than that, I knew that when Mudano said Homare was expelles from the school, he was just pushing her into using her power. It seems he really wants every student of his to have that "darkness" inside them to heal. as it seems he also had that darkness (I'm curious to know his backstory). Homare's backstory seems to be quite tragic too, which leads the question if every student really had a tragic backstory to have that darkness inside them, since when they showed Kuina's backstory it wasn't that deep.
They have also been inconsistent with how they present each character, some have full on episodes to introduce them (like Jin, Homare and Rokuro) and others are only "well, this is their blood abillity, let's move on" (like Yusurube and this episode with Ikari). I really hope that these characters are explored more later in the series, and if so, then I kinda like they are just flooding these initial episodes with the character's backstories (considering the Manga is quite long and the anime is getting 2 cours, they have time for that).
Who's going to be the person to lighten Homare's darkness though (like Mudano mentioned)? Will it be Shiki?
On a side note, I'm quite surprised to see this anime is doing quite well in Japan. I'm curious to see if the manga sales are going to get a big boost from the anime or not, and if this will translate in getting a 2nd season announcement when this one ends (since from what I have searched, we have quite a lot of material from the manga for a 2nd and even 3rd seasons).
The opening and ending still slap, the best combo of this season, that's for sure. IN THE 24 ALIVE HERE. |
