| Christ, where do I start? There are the cult murders that happened in Krugersdorp, the rape and mutilation of Anene Booysen, the horrifically brutal hate crimes against immigrants from other African nations and many, many others. South Africa's a brutal country, folks. |

| I don't remember that much from stuff and I wouldn't call them scary. First which happened when I was maybe around middle school? -> An agressor came up with a knife to the group of highschool graduate, attacked them, he has gotten disarmed and stabbed by his own weapon, died before police ambulance etc. arrived Recent stuff: 2 bodies found nearby, a father and a son. After investigation both were drunk, probably the son also high on drugs they've stabbed each other to the death. At least that's the official info as I wasn't checking up the recent results on this. [Only one knife was found and both of them were stabbed to death] |
| The worst was a huge shooting a year ago (I think) when 4 police, including 3 of them Feds, were gunned down by this dude from the 2nd floor of a house. The dude didn't even have any murders on his record. They demolished the whole front of the house to get to him and he was killed obviously. I've actually driven by the house where it happened, it's still there. Then there was a shooting during New Years (2024) that ended up our city's new years celebration being cancelled. One of the people shot was some tourists from Germany, I was so angry and ashamed. |
| There was a news story for a bomb threat at my high school... While I was inside that high school. Also not exactly a news story, but at my school there was an ACTIVE SHOOTER alert (not for the school but like a city thing) Pretty sure there would be news stories about that though. Another quite recent one, but I saw a news story about a woman who got stabbed in front of her kid... It was just outside of my cousin's apartment. Also some guy apparently threatened people with a knife at a walmart, THE DAY AFTER I WENT TO THAT SAME EXACT WALMART. |

| A police woman getting shot in 2007 with the perpretator still not found, but I was never scared about it, since I haven't witnessed it myself and I wasn't any target. Also, after that, nothing as noteworthy happened here, so it seems more like a potential secret service operation tbh, especially with how skilled the elemination has been. There have been scarier things on a national level including but not limited to the RAF terror attacks like with the killing of the former president of a bank (though even those could be state-sponsored/acted by some secret service given there are some inconsistencies), the Christmas attacks, some shooting rampages, people eating other people, etc. |

| It isnt exactly from my news itself. There was a string of kidnappings that were happening and one was in my town and on /pol/ I saw a thread about it and obviously you can imagine what they were saying but to see my local town get a /pol/ thread was a special kind of uncomfortable. |

| I mean my local news did cover 9/11, so probably that one. I remember being mad I couldn't watch SpongeBob when I got home either, lol. Now I don't remember specific stories, but I do remember people telling me there was still public Klan activity in my town as recent as the 90s. |
