Zenitsu is not a pervert. Quite the opposite.
People dislike him because he is loud and gets scared easily. Thankfully, in the movies he will completely redeem himself.

The only moment of him being decent is when he is asleep, so that says a lot. I'm sad for his VA because he has to scream and be tarded 24/7 while voicing him. Easily one of the most annoying characters if not the most from what I've seen.

Better question is, why do people like him?

I like zenitsu. There are so many crybaby and obnoxious characters in anime but I dont hate most of them. They are enjoyable to watch.

If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Idk if I would call him a pervert per se, he’s always been more pathetically desperate rather than a pervert imo. It is one of the reasons I find him annoying still. He’s awesome when he’s not cognizant tho

He's supposed to be a coward character, and those work very well in many cases. What Demon Slayer does wrong is making Zenitsu never come over his cowardice when necessary.

Usopp from one piece is a good character because, while scared and cowardly, he comes over it when he needs to.

Stark from frieren is a good character because he fights regardless of his fear.

Zenitsu doesn't fight, he just passes out. He doesn't even know he's fighting.

I personally don't like how the author basically justified this by making Zenitsu cool headed and strong when he's asleep. That doesn't make his character any better, because while yes, that is him, it's not HIM.

^^ I agree half-heartedly, people were never able to perform the first form of Thunder breathing,not even the thunder breathing hashira's. that's what made Kaigaku jealous of Zenitsu and he thus, bullied Zenitsu...

People weren't able to perform the first form of Thunder breathing as it took too much energy,so while Zenitsu could perform the 1st form of TB,it took too much energy this making him unconscious while using thunder breathing.

as someone who has read the demon slayer manga too, Zenitsu defeated Upper Moon 5 himself with no help,he created his own breathing form too and Did all that WHILE HE WAS STILL AWAKE,he didn't blink an eye during all this

He didn't do jack shit aside from screaming and being a complete annoyance for like what, 5 seasons and multiple movies? I don't count his 1-2 moments where he actually did something because that was him being asleep so it's not even him fighting for 10 seconds.

I like him a lot because he makes the anime very funny. Yes, I also love when he's asleep but I find when he's a crybaby and scared funny. It makes it relatable and even when he screams which some people find annoying(yes, it was annoying for me too when I first started watching the anime) but as it went on, it made the anime funny while watching it.

it's just the epitome of lazy writing and terrible characterization to give a character a gimmick and have all their screentime be dictated by that one gimmick. Removes all nuance and makes you just want to skip the scene because youve already watched it before.
