How long has it been since i last saw 'W'? The character design with white hair is truly beautiful; she is such a war-crazy girl. There are so many new characters i've just seen, like Theresa, she is truly captivating in both personality and design. Is 'W' still working for the Reunion? Talula makes her first appearance in the third season. The fight between Talula and 'W' is rather insignificant; i thought there would be a nice battle scene, but a boss type like Talula is just too overpowering. Okay, I don't understand this episode. |

Bro this show is so beautiful and well animated, I just wish I could understand a damn thing that’s going on. How’d we go from Ch’en to this W/Ines arc lol?? And it bouncing all over the timeline didn’t help either, it’s like impossible to actually discuss these episodes because I can’t get enough of a grip on what’s going on. All I know is they found W, she kinda worked her way up the merc hierarchy, became a leader, her OG friends died and she betrayed the other queen? Don’t understand the why for anything lol Edit: apparently this adapted the dark memoirs side story or some shit but it condensed the arc tremendously |

@Marinate1016 Ok, so it's not just me then. The whole episode felt like it was trying to tell, idek, a range of events that'd make up an entire season?? In several segments, literally every scene was a change of location and/or people and/or even a timeskip - EITHER forward OR back. Like we're looking into... the past? I couldn't even tell that! through a crystal ball or something, and only seeing fragments of what happened. From beginning to end. I thought I had my player set to 1.2× or 1.5× speed and checked multiple times while watching. Not only was it confusing, it got exhausting quite quick to try to keep up. No idea what they were thinking while putting this episode together, but it's just too much. |

@yellowheartren Oh good, I'm not the only one who was confused. The only thing I could make out was this story was from the Enemy's side of the Battle & they were skipping around in time. |

I never liked W that much. But she just looks so cute when holding that camera. Especially when she sneaks behind theresa. The way i see it. Because some of the reunion soldiers are sarkaz, they wanted to briefly touch upon the civil war in kazdel. But i guess it might be confusing because they condensed an entire arc of darknights memoir into one episode. |

When you know that this was an important episode lore-wise, but didn't felt any excitement because you don't have any attachment for most of them. Like "Yeah, sure. They are doing things, now where is the arc I'm invested on." OG Doctor: super serious vs Doctor after I take control: goofy horrible strategist. |

Ok that was a very big curveball of an episode, so I don't blame anime-onlys from being slightly confused. To summarize and explain a little, what we got in this episode was an unexpected adaptation of one of the Intermezzi events from the game, Darknights Memoir, which delves into the past of W and her connection to Babel, the precursor organization to Rhodes Island. The latter half of the episode then showed us some things from S1 (specifically when Rhodes Island goes to Chernobog to extract the Doctor from their coma right at the start) but from other characters' perspective, and finally a glimpse of a confrontation between W and Talulah (which I did not expect we'd get to see this soon at all). As someone who already knows the story, I absolutely *loved* this episode. It was amazing and tied together certain threads of the story that were a bit scattered before in-game. The pacing was a little fast, but they got all the important parts down, and I am happy that Darknights Memoir got any kind of adaptation at all, since it is a pretty important "prequel" to the main story. This was also a pretty clever way to introduce the audience to Theresa. Remember that name later down the line!! |

Banger from Reona as usual. Have to be a hell of a war for merc groups to get bounties placed on them. Complications like succession wars always complicate things. So the cargo was the landship that eventually become RI's main base huh. W sure ended up getting quite the following among the mercs. This ep did well to showcase the events of the past and how that affected the present. Not to mention the brutality of what being a merc can be like on the field. Nice to see some depth added to W's character. Pretty grand ED though. |

@Marinate1016 It is not arc based, this ep is just too rushed, it shows how the story builds up to what is going to happen in the next few eps but it does so by packing 10 hours of side story reading into 20 min. |

With this chapter it became clear to me that the only problem with this series is the number of chapters it has, since now they show us W's story as a mercenary in different fragments of the past and present at a fairly fast pace, although in my case, despite not knowing almost anything about the game's history, I did manage to understand for the most part how the scenes were presented throughout the chapter and I only have one question, is this entire chapter the complete story of W or are there still more things to show about his story? P.D: Watch the episode at 0.75x speed, the pace is a little better. |

Story pacing's worst nightmare. It's supposed to be a good introduction to W's characterization, what's made her the way she is now, and even an introduction to Sarkaz and Kazdel's stuffs, to know that there are other problems and plots going on behind the scenes that would come to light later when the main story progresses further. but this episode decided to cramp all that contents into just one 20mins episode, dialogues given no rooms to breath or let us try to comprehend what the characters are thinking or discussing about, every sequences in this episode are included just for the sake of being included, without any direction or proper approach at all. You can notice by how cramped in all the dialogues and scenes are throughout this episode, anyone that never read the story before will definitely have a big confusion trying to understand everything that happens and what keypoint it tries to convey in this episode. Now it really raised me a big concern that i already have but trying to cope with, with only 10eps to cover chapter 8 and 9, they might just dont have enough episodes to properly cover the rest of the story that's going to be in this season at all. now i can only hope that the upcoming episodes would not be this cramped and brutalily fast paced as this episode. Im really rooting that this IP anime adaptation would see a better light, because the original game has very good stories and worldbuilding that i want to share to others, to let others appreciate it the same as i do, since there arent many opportunities that a story like this get an anime adaptation, its a good opportunity to let others know the existence of story like this. I'm just disappointed and wishing there is better way for this adaptation to be great. Maybe the rest of episodes would be good, if not then I hope it's not as bad as this. |

I don't know why the studio is doing this. The first Ep was from the main story, and now the second ep was Darknights Memoir event, but they fit the ENTIRE story into a single episode without explaining anything for non players. I only understood some of cuz I used to play, but even then it's still bad how they quickly the speedran. |

@Issac113234 There is more to W's story, but that is far in the future. Episode 2 adapted an entire event side-story called Darknights Memoirs (which is W's origin and her connection to Babel/Rhodes Island) and a small part of W's encounter with Talulah during chapter 8 of the game. So there was A LOT of story cramped into this episode that could have easily been done in 2 episodes at most. They also added a small sneakpeak at the origin of Babel and Theresa, the King of the Sarkaz (Yes, king, even though she's a woman. This difference is important in the later story of Kazdel and the Sarkaz), as well as The Doctor and his relation with her, Kal'tsit, Amiya and W. I especially liked that small interaction between the past Doctor and W. Her saying he looked scary is a HUGE point in the characterization and backstory of the Doctor. |

It’s not surprising that Darknights Memoir was adapted, but no way did they just speedrun it in a single episode. The pacing was all over the place. They should have adapted DM and maybe Babel too in a separate season instead. |

VERY fast paced episode. I read the fast dialogue/events here as if it's W's memories being played on 2x speed, though missing some of the beginnings and endings, because that's sort of what Darknights was like to read. I only really understood the events/full character motives of Darknights after reading future chapters. 10-12 and Babel Reiner flashback episode at the start of Season 4 Also, Closure was cute to see. |

@Issac113234 What was shown to us was W's past, though some parts were skipped or rushed through, but the most important things - her meeting Theresa and the pre-amnesia Doctor - were there. She's a relatively central character in the coming arcs, though, as was alluded to by the snippet from her confrontation with Talulah, so her story is far from over and she has an even bigger role down the line, but I couldn't tell you about that even if I wanted to as I myself have not made it that far in the main story of the game. |

Was hoping it would at least be two episodes but they just speedran through it good lord. Could've started the episode way better to lead into the past too but alas. The actual content and choices they made in here I like but the pacing just doesn't allow for any of it to fully be appreciated or even sink in. Giving that scene of patriot realizing frostnova died barely a second was actually criminal, and then having the scene with W and the kids just doesn't make sense to do because you don't get to see any of what made that scene so good. That scene should've either been done properly or cut out in favor of doing other scenes better. Props for at least technically pulling off the doomed task of having to put darknights memoir in one episode I suppose lol. I do very much like what little of past doc we see, unfortunately won't see more unless they decide to adapt more of the past. Patriot I was expecting to be disappointed by his voicing but I was not, and him just standing there talking without any movement kinda fits. Also yostar is cruel too showing us these theresa scenes on her birthday smh, and the ED was just still images but painful. |

this ep was packed with dialogue, I had to check twice to make sure it wasnt going at 1.25x or 1.5x speed cause that felt way too fast. rly interesting story, but this show is one of those u gotta dig for the lore and worldbuilding on the net or in the games otherwise u miss alot of juice |

What the hell was this episode even? I'm gllad I'm notthe only one who had to check if my player was playing at 1.5 speed. You know when you play a game where you don't care about the story so you just spam spacebar to skip the dialogue faster? This is the exact feeling this episode gave. The voice lines were almost literally playing one over the other, the framing of the characters were completely random and the timeline was incomprehensible. What the hell were the scenes with Scout? And what the hell was that scene with the kids? The worst part is that everything introduced here is supposed to be meaningful, but there's so little time to let anything sink in that nothing really feels important at all. I mean, how is this your introduction to Patriot (Was he actually introduced during the FrostNova fight in S2? I can't remember)? How do you drop the information that Tallulah is not herself like this? Theresa and whatever the hell is happening among the Sarkaz? The Doctor's past personality? Every single of those things got about 30 seconds of screen time. You can't even say they were trying to be expositive with this episode, because when you try to be expositive you actually take your time explaining in the simplest and most understandable way possible. This episode does the inverse; it says that not a single thing that happened in these 20 minutes will be important but they had to add it anyway to not upset the fans. |

I think it's easy to get confused in the episode, but some things are made quite clear without being told. Everything takes place in the past, as we see a younger Amiya, and W's origins as a mercenary. They explain several things, such as why W already knew us when she rescued us in the first season. She was part of Babel for a time. It seems that after Therese died, Babel ended up being renamed Rhodes Island, and she ended up being recruited again as a mercenary and joining Reunion. Then we see a flashback to the first season, where one of her old friends ended up hiring her to rescue us and in events that we do not see, Scout and Ines end up dying (Ines seems to be attacked by Reunion) but not before sending a message to W that Talula had an evil "Aura" as if she were not her, something that makes sense with the message that Frostnova tells us in the previous season where she tells us that we must save her. This leads her to confront Talula now seeing again that it seems that the latter is possessed by something since her main mission is to free her people from Reunion. |

They released the episode on Theresa's birthday. They always do these kind of things to torture us. X.X For those who didn't understand the episode: Arknights is similar to Fate, it takes time to put the pieces together and understand the whole picture. We are not spoon fed. This episode shows the story of W and what she was doing while the main cast was on and about. We also see fragments from Rhodes Island's past. Main things to remember for anime-onlys: - There's a country called Kazdel with different demonic inhabitants(vampires, vendigos, banshees etc.) collectively called Sarkaz - Ines isn't a Sarkaz, she just cut her horns to look like one - There was a civil war in Kazdel between Theresa, the rightful ruler and her brother Theresis - Babel was supporting Theresa's side - The Doctor was an unbeatable strategic mastermind called the Ghost of Babel - Something happened and Theresa died, Babel lost the war - Babel was renamed Rhodes Island, much of the old crew left, the Doctor lost his memories and was placed into a sarcophagus for 4 years - W hunted down everyone involved with Theresa's death because she was her idol, the person she looked up to the most in life. She wanted Theresa to give her a real name - W cares for the Sarkaz race, this forces her to go up against Talulah who only wants bloodshed and destruction. And is sacrificing everyone in his army left-and-right Extra: If you're interested in W or simply want more Arknights, go to Youtube and search for "The Daggers' Inheritors". It's an official episode about W hunting down people involved in Theresa's death. Extra #2: We see W take up a camera and try to take pictures of Theresa. Some can be seen here: https://x.com/arknightsen/status/1853754129967104388 |

I love the Episode (Played the game since 2020), but it does feels a bit rushed... Like there's no pause in-between every conversation. This Episode took an Event called 'Darknights Memoir' and it's one of the Prequel Event before Season 1 of the Anime happens./ For the one who already read/watch the Event in-game it's quite decent because they might already know the whole event lore, but for everyone else It feels rushed and all over the place. This whole episode/event took almost around 10 years timeline before the current Chernobog Incident (Season 1) as a whole. So It really needs maybe 3 or more episodes as OVA and it should be acceptable... There's also another Prequel Event called 'Babel' which took a lot longer than that, like 30+ years from Doctor, Theresa and Kal'tsit perspective. But let's not talk about that yet. For Anime-only watcher there's some pointers you should know to understand more of this episode (SPOILER AHEAD): - Sarkaz is a devil-like race from Kazdel (a nation like Ursus, but much smaller like Lungmen). And Sarkaz is one of the natives of Terra. This includes W, Hoederer, Theresa, Scout, etc... Mercenary culture is a common thing for Sarkaz because Kazdel always at-war and most of them are pretty nomadic in the first place. - Ines' Arts reads the shadow to read their minds. So when W said she's using it too much, it might cause her oripathy worse. Ines isn't a Sarkaz btw, but she does has Horns (She's from a Goat/Sheep-like Race) and she carves it herself to make her looks like a Sarkaz. - Babel was the name of the organization led by Theresa before it become Rhodes Island in the future and Amiya become Its Leader after Theresa's death. - The Doctor here is the one before the Amnesia during Chernobog Incident. Named 'Ghost of Babel' during this Event and Babel Event in-game for his brilliant strategy as a warmonger and took the war like he's playing chess. - In the last half of Episode when W met Ines and Hoederer again, W hunted down Theresa's assassins and associates for revenge that took Theresa's life. - Spoiler for Theresis: Theresis is Kazdel's Regent and Theresia is the Crown AND Both of them are Twins. Both Theresa and Theresis will be the main point of Babel Event. The Event told the Civil War between Babel (Theresa) and Kazdel Military Commision (Theresis) just like this episode's event but a lot more detailed. After Theresa's Death, Babel lost and they have to escape from Kazdel, change their name to 'Rhodes Island' and the Doctor got amnesia just before Season 1 Event. .. Theresis will be of the Villains in the 2nd Arc of the Main Story (Chernobog/Lungmen is the 1st Arc) - W isn't her real name. She took it from the last Sarkaz she killed (also Hoederer's subordinates) before the beginning of the Episode. Also W is Illiterate (can't write but maybe still can read a bit) at this point. - All of the event W involved including the Reunion, is for Theresia... The True Crown of Kazdel. - The Paper W got in the end is one of the Photo she took and cherishes about Theresia. Yeah, she's pretty loved in the community because her lore is one of the most interesting one... Also she'll appear in the Main Story more often from this point. This Episode/Event is a plot point for her introduction. |

Regardless, I've never gotten into the games but have been following this entire anime, and I have to remind myself to pick up my jaw off the floor after every episode. Well W is one of my favourite characters/operator from the game simply becase of her character design and back story. Also a bonus that she's voice by Ayachi. |

But still credits to them coz the animation on this adaptation is amazing. The game is really good and that's why I'm still invested into the game ever since it first came out in 2020. |

As a former player of the game, this is the first time I knew Hoederer was meant to be read as "Hedoree" |

It was a good episode. Though it was pretty rushed. Darknight Memoir is dense enough to be a movie by itself and while they managed to keep some of the important parts (W relationship to Rhodes Island, why she let them escape, why Amiya felt like she had seen her before and Ines seeing two shadows on Talulah), it would have been much better to give the whole thing more time. The battle between W and Talulah by itself was enough material for half an episode at least. While people that only watch the anime will most likely feel pretty lost with this episode, what happened in it will play an important role during this season and even more so if they decide to animate the next arc so i am happy they at least bothered to animate it. |

I didn't expect them to include the entirety of Darknights Memoir in this season with how few episodes we have. Definitely suffering from the problem that we had near the end of the previous season where it feels like the characters are talking at 1.25x speed to fit everything in. Hopefully this means they intend to keep the anime going and we eventually get to see Act II and Babel animated. |

Pacing was a mess. I know most chunks of info so more or less tied everything, but for someone coming blind this has to be impossible to grasp. |

WTF was that? I didn’t know it was a history until mid episode. I also didn’t know who the good/bad guys were. Hopefully it gets back on track or at least this makes sense down the road |

I had to check if I was watching at 2x speed because everything is happening so fast. The characters just keep talking and talking, literally no breaks between dialogues. But I'll take it. This is W's past I believe? The moment it gets back to the first season with Scout and Ace I was like "no wayy". Now I know Scout is just as badass as Ace. It's a shame he died off screen in the first season, but thankfully we got see him for the last time in this one. A question but please don't tell me if it's a spoiler for future episodes. Why is it bad that Irene used her Arts on Talulah? I want to choke W so hard too. |

A lot of info from the game was rushed and it's really difficult to understand what's happening |

Yuu_Kanzaki said: Why is it bad that Irene used her Arts on Talulah? Irene? She's not part of the main story line the anime adapts. She's part of the sea terrors plot. If you mean Ines, then her Arts allow her to read people's personalities through their shadows. And Talulah had two shadows, meaning two personalities. In the previous seasons multiple people talked about how Talulah changed, she was a different person in the past, and she's just a tyrant now. |

@Yaggamy Whoops, sorry yeah I meant Ines. So that's why Talulah refers to herself in season 1 when she burns a butterfly landing on her hand. Thanks for the reply. |

As an anime-only watcher, I have no idea what's going on. The first half of the episode was digestible at least, but then it started rushing too much that it's impossible for me to keep up. It's so convoluted. I loved this story since the beginning, but this is extremely infuriating. Why can't we just let the story breathe a little? I'm so disappointed. |

They should have made an OVA of like 3 episodes between Season 2 and 3 just to adapt what they condensed here in one episode imo (or add more episodes for the whole season) I feel like the only reason I was able to follow everything was because I already knew the story from the game. Poor anime-only watchers must be LOST! Even for the rest of the season, I'm a bit scared of the pacing. It's pretty much the entirety of chapter 7 and 8 (minus the few dialogues we got in episode 1). Chapter 7 is 136k words long Chapter 8 is 202k words long. For reference, the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy is about 400-450k words. The last Harry Potter Book is about 220k words. Yeah they'll have to condense the story A LOT. I hope they'll manage to have a better pace than this Episode 2. |
