Have to admit, Shizuka is brave. Even though she's no match against any of these fighters especially the Gravel leader, she wants to be of some help anyway.

Gravel does have some moral standards after all. Tsubakino held their own this episode and impressed me this arc.

Weeks that windbreaker hasn’t made me cry: 0 yet again, beautiful episode and perfect conclusion to this gravel mini-arc. This had it all. The action from Cloverworks, the emotional moments that make wind breaker so special, AND we meet our next big bad? Perfect ep

“I’ve never had anything to begin with” Suzuri and Gravel were a really interesting opposition group for these last few episodes because if you think about it, Suzuri is basically Sakura if he didn’t have a support system. They both have the same ethos, they won’t let any of their friends suffer or go without. For Sakura he was able to find a home with Bofurin and he’s not starving, but the Gravel folks only had themselves. Society forgot about them. So it’s only natural seeing someone like Shizuka who has so many people concerned for her wellbeing and willing to put themselves on the line for her would hurt.

Communicating through fighting has been a big theme of this series from the start and you could quite literally feel all the pain and burden Suzuri carried in that fight. His attacks were primal, full of fear and a desire to survive. He’s not fighting to be evil or anything, just a simple human desire to have enough food to eat and to make sure his people are good. It’s funny how you can go from hating a character to understanding them and sympathising with them so quickly. That’s why talking to people is important which is another big theme of this series. You can’t help people if you don’t know what they want. We can’t understand one another if we don’t communicate.

Speaks to tsubakino’s emotional intelligence that he was instantly able to see Suzuri wasn’t a bad guy and must’ve had a lot of pain and suffering in his life. Ironically, they both would’ve been great friends if they grew up together which makes things all the more painful. We can’t choose our circumstances, but we can choose what to do next so respect to Suzuri for realizing the error of his ways and taking Kanji’s job offer.

The big ironic twist of the episode being that Suzuri already had more than most people will ever get, he had a loving group of friends. Rooting for them!

“I love you a whole lot more than you can ever imagine” 😭 yea that’s where the tears started flowing for me. Tsubakino and Shizuka friendship is so pure I love them sm. I love how Suzuri made sure to reassure Shizuka that his group would never do anything to hurt her, and if they did, he’d take full responsibility!!

Oh shit that ending! Who’s our new hottie??! Is he gonna be related to the guy from the end of the KEEL arc?? Can’t wait for the next ep!

After learning what kind of place Makochi Town is and the kind of life people live there, it's hard to judge Shuhei or the GRAVEL as a whole. But I'm happy things turned out well for them in the end.

I don't like how this show is turning into one of those friendship and bonding stories where a character suddenly gets some kind of power-up to solve everything. There's nothing wrong with that element, but leaning too heavily into it doesn't fit well with the masculine theme the show built up.

I get that Tsubakino found and accepted himself, and the thing he keeps saying about how love gives strength and spreads it to everyone around. This type of thinking isn't resonating with me, since at the end of the day, the one who is strong is the one who holds more power, as it comes in many forms. But it's respectable how he changed his approach after learning the reality of Shuhei and the difference in their lives.

Thankfully, Tsubakino told Shizuka what she did wrong last episode. Like, girl, they’re out there fighting for you, and you want to take the easy way out just so they don’t get hurt physically, but what about their emotions from being unable to save a single person?

An unknown dude appears, the one who put in the request to kidnap Shizuka, and he happens to be someone with a past history involving Furin, as we see that Tsubakino knows him.

Looks like all Evil Tanjiro and his crew really needed was some empathy… and, honestly, a steady job. They’re broke as hell.

So I guess it’s all peace and friendship now, except for that big tattooed dude at the end. That guy’s definitely still a problem.

Tsubaki's challenge against Gravel's Suzuri is quite the rage of love...

For Suzuri, the harsh reality of living a life where he always felt inferior to the rest, he finds strength in a team through numbers, just like the perfect round cookies that hold their weight and substance together. Yet, the pain of losing something, just as Umemiya surmised that every fight is a "conversation", Tsubaki having felt that emotion by almost losing his sense of identity as a boy who loved feminism, wants to converse with Suzuri that they're similar in different ways, though he needs a home for his gang as well, which Roppo Ichiza offers their assistance to reach out to them.

With the gang matters settled, Tsubaki berating Shizuka for trying to sacrifice herself in the midst of the gang fight, he got his argument's worth before handing over to Kanji for him take care of Shizuka. The surprise of Sakura's romance radar not going off given his constant naivety, he still has aways to go understanding what he does and turning that into reality with Bofurin. At the very least, Suzuri and Gravel made up for their misforgivings and vows to protect Shizuka better, though that does not mean that she's out of danger, which the real mastermind comes out to show his face knowing Furin: the same tattoo dude of Endo Yamato.

The tattoo dude (who first showed up at Keel's postmortem loss against Bofurin) is heaps of trouble...

Wind Breaker seems to live in a universe that's separated from us. It's such a strange phenomenon where a lot of orphans form a group to survive in a developed country, right down in an entertainment district.
It seems like this is the world where more than 90% are male, may be even as high as 95%? And needless to say that I also want to live in that world LOL Living in an all-you-can-eat guy buffet is a dream.

On a serious side, this is the same old pattern where the new guy or group of guys are introduced as villain and then later there's a story that why they behave that way, and then later they become a good guy after losing a fight. Please note that this is not complaining. I can embrace everything as long as there's no one died from fighting.

Oh, and I definitely want that tattoo guy in my buffet line. His tattoo also extend down below his pants, don't ask me why I know that, I just know!

This episode was too rushed. I think the story is really good, but this should have been 1.5/2 episodes.
Might start reading the manga for this.

Knew Hanae Natsuki's voice was too important to be given to a random one time villain lol. Cliche shounen stuff, hokage dattebayo but the last bit with Sakura was great though. Also that guy voiced by Ono Daisuke from before is back. Gives off major villain vibe so are we getting into a big battle arc next?

Pretty good episode.

And you know, in the past few episodes I started getting this idea that it would be pretty cool if Nirei would end up going through some sort of insane glow up in the series, with him and Sakura becoming some sort of best buddy beasts, the strongest among their ranks. But Idk how the author is gonna spin this, although he seems to be planting a lot of seeds regarding Nirei wanting to become more than who he is right now, but we'll need more seasons to see that happen.

So Natsuki Hanae’s character is so annoying because he had nothing growing up and so he thinks no one else should have anything and he’s getting pissy because people actually care about Shizuka and don’t want her to be kidnapped and sold into slavery? Right…

I really like Wind Breaker, but man, some scenes are just one corny moment after another. I get that it's supposed to be the emotional climax of the show, but everyone suddenly starts speaking like a philosopher while the rest of the crowd just stands there watching. It’s a bit much. There's so little subtlety in those moments—it kind of pulls me out of the story.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the stories and the emotional impact, but the way those scenes are executed made the episode feel a bit off for me. It’s not a bad episode, and I think it's fine objectively, but it just didn’t land that well for me personally.

I'm so glad we stopped to make the human trafficker sympathetic before everyone just forgave him and his 100+ gang members.

Amazing how this managed to be less realistic than Tokyo Revengers. Over 100 teenage, somehow homeless, boys and at least 30 young men brawling in what is normally a busy city street for hours on end with no law enforcement.

@Mari_Marx Man, what kind of society in the 21st Century let's kids starve to death in the streets? I think they may have actually overplayed the melodrama here. I don't think it's Oliver Twist & the times of Charles Dickens. Well, ok, I don't know if Japan has any kind of safety net for poor kids.

Still great. I like how our resident male Tsundere looks extra cute when he's blushing.

What happened to the variety in japanese voice casting.. it seems the actors are chosen only based on a certain archetype, and make everyone sound the same *sigh*
Also too much patronizing; action pauses every other second for talking rubbish, feels more like a webnovel.

In 2022, over 20,000 people in the U.S. lost their lives due to malnutrition. Issues like poverty and food insecurity tend to cluster in specific neighborhoods, creating pockets of extreme hardship. While it's true that many children aren’t on the verge of death, nearly 50 million Americans still face chronic undernourishment because of poverty—that's roughly one in every six people. Just a few minutes from my apartment, there's an alley crowded with people experiencing homelessness, and it's painfully clear that our social safety nets are falling short. This is happening in one of the wealthiest cities in the nation.

Granted, these figures are from the U.S., not Japan—but I think it’s essential to acknowledge that hunger, poverty, and starvation are very real and present issues. Places like the one depicted here aren’t just fiction—they exist. This is real life dude.

What a masterpiece of an episode! I'm really glad everything worked out in the end, with everyone satisfied by the final result, Roppo Ichiza, Bofurin, and Gravel included. And that cliffhanger? An absolute masterpiece in its own right, especially with Endo's second debut!

Speaking of Endo, i ain't a manga reader myself, but my little brother is, and he told me that Endo is the sigma aura farmer. I loved the plot twist revealing that he was actually the client behind Gravel. I'm super excited for when Endo & Shuuhei "talk it out", as Shuuhei said, haha.

Suzuri's quite the charismatic leader himself. It's impressive that he was able to lead that many people and prevent internal strife.

The real villain shows himself right when the season is about to end. It sucks that the season's most likely gonna end with yet another cliffhanger.

I like Wind Breaker BUT...

I'm really glad this arc is over or almost over.

Too much about it that I felt was off:

I didn't like the way the adults have a place in the story at this part. Part of believing delinquent anime is believing in the melodrama, pettiness, and revenge that goes along with youth. A time in life when everything seems like a big deal and is deeply important to you, emotions are running high. School gangs and massive fights between them are all part of it. Transitioning this early in the story to the somewhat shady underworld of adults, who still squabble like teenagers, pushed the limits of my belief.

I mean, you're telling me there's a conveniently placed impoverished town next door, and all of the adults who are seemingly desperate didn't travel to find jobs that were apparently pretty adjacent to them all along? This doesn't make sense. The problems of adults weren't working for me in a story that has operated on the logic of its child characters.

Also this arc had way too big a problem with giving us huge backstories, that are supposed to be emotional important, to characters we JUST met and have zero connection to. Shizuka's story would have been so much better if I knew her for a long time. And bowl-cut-bangs Tanjiro voiced guy, you're telling me HE had a gigantic emotional backstory too?

I also wish Tsubakino had more or better story to showcase himself as a character. I feel like there should just be more to him, idk. I'd rather seem him have to deal with school gang matters than the red light district stuff. Perhaps we'll get there, but as an introduction, it would have been waaaay cooler.
