Natsuko trying to figure out the mystery of a certain movie is the most Natsuko thing ever.

I kinda like how she takes on a practical approach. I wasn't expecting that musical performance this episode though.

Luke and Natsuko crumbs… my ship will sail one day..

So the solution for Memmelm’s genocidal plan was just Natsuko creating a hot guy she could Stan forever eternity? 😭weirdest plot point ever but whatever it brought Luke and Natsuko closer . I do understand Memmelm being tired of living and shit, but you don’t get to unilaterally end the whole world because YOU are tired of it. It’s basically a dark route version of Frieren. Cherish the time with the people around you, don’t rob them of it.

lol at Luke getting all nervous when asked if he and Natsuko are dating.. we are getting that haters to lovers confession soon aren’t we.

After this ep, I'm certain it's basically Christmas Carol but in isekai fashion. Not saying that's bad, but the story is semi predictive going forward.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Luke is really falling for Natsuko now and it's so cute to see. It was hilarious see Natsuko basically draw a boyfriend for Memmeln to save her and the musical performance was just superb.

It's so fabulous. This is such a healing experience. This anime always surprise me, in a good way. Even though I already assume it'll tackle all kind of genre in tribute to anime industry, I still wouldn't expect idol to be one of them, especially male idol!

Next episode name is "Justice", hmmmm....could there be a genre that related to this word.... justice...

This is stupid nonsense and I really enjoyed it.

Solving existential dread and eternal torment with nerding out over idol anime...

Natsuko continues to be a fun character, the way she just kicks down the door and confronts Memmeln because she's tired of all this tiptoeing around.

Also, just going with Luke's dumb plan because it was funny and "it can't hurt" was very Natsuko, too.

It was an idol anime all along. How do you solve eternal despair? Create an Idol for them to fangirl over forever.

This was Memmeln's episode and what she was planning all this time and ngl I felt her. The Elves living for eternity is one thing that sucks since they've to see everything they care about around them die. So, I don't blame her but then again, she's putting everyone's lives at risk for their own sake. So, it's a tough question.

This time around, Natsuko went on to animating one of the members of the Idol Group Uta-Men with Mamoru Miyano on the helm of the singing voice and him charming the hell out of Memmeln and all her choir members. He has an entire fan group in this world who is going to worship him. LOL. Also, Luke getting more and more flustered around Natsuko. There's definitely feelings brewing between them. Cute.

"Even if I die, the characters that I've created will live on forever." I love it.

I love how one of the ways Natsuko thinks to stop Memmeln from committing atrocities is through making a character design that will never die. It's actually pretty sweet, she falls in love with a fictional character that will never die. Though, I'm lowkey kind of glad that it's not going in a love triangle direction, let's see how long that lasts.

Zenshuu is dumb fun, but imagine how much dumber Frieren must have been for Zenshuu to make parody of it in a single episode...

Btw, the fictional boys idol group Natsuko drew was actually the girls band Togenashi Togeari in disguise.

Natsuko takes inspiration from a movie. She already knows what is going to happen later with all other characters, thanks to mangaka job.

Luke Braveheart is a cool hero, but I hope it will creat a better relationship with Natsuko, they are so cute together.

The Summon Ritual was somehow weird. I mean, why did they do that? To summon a forgotten, old Void?

I'm kinda still waiting for this to become good or at least for the story to take some interesting turn or just for something to happen that makes this anime standout but so far there's nothing. I think if nothing happens in the next episode ima just drop this surprisingly good looking trash.

I'm in the same boat. Sure it looks good, but currently it's just another bland Isekai anime. There are a lot more interesting ones than Zenshu. One more week, then I'm dropping this.

BRUH, first it turns out Memmeln is a depressed suicidal elf who thinks death is ultimate salvation for all (thus she doesn't simply off only herself). Then, we have Natsuko introducing ultimate husbando to the cultists and just like that they gave up on ending the world!

Things should get even more interesting now. Memmeln's transformation was the end of the anime Natsuko knows right? Storyline has changed dramatically so whatever comes next should be a mystery.

I'm curious to see what Natsuko will draw next. Here's hoping for another reference like we had in episode 1.

I assume this is parody of bad villain design. The villain's motivation makes zero sense. If Memmeln wants to die, there is no logical link to destroying the entire world. It is, however, typical of lazy writing in bad anime, where many villains' motivation amount to "my life has problems, therefor everyone has to die" and then for some reason other people are like "yeah, that sounds great, we'll sacrifice ourselves for your 'vision'" or similar nonsense.

I somewhat enjoyed that the solution to the problem was as ludicrous as the villain justification itself.

I'm really surprised they wrapped that all up in one episode. Memmeln's motives were actually quite depressing, and Natsuko's solution to it was quite funny and wholesome. I wonder where the rest of the show will go since she basically solved the climax of the movie?

this show is so stupid but also pretty fun, the last thing i expected was her giving memel a fucking husbando. It also fits the whole thing that had the original world going that it was a fucking terrible anime movie with a bunch of random shit put into it just because.

This anime has potential to turn it back around and do a perfect joke of bad anime movies/series instead of just monster of the week which has been the last 3 eps xd

I don’t think the “I don’t want it end the world anymore because of a handsome guy” is realistic, but I think that’s what makes it fit. Natsuko did tell us this wasn’t like— the most revolutionary movie in history (if I remember right?), it’s just one that she loves. From what we know about the movie (from her perspective) it’s kinda simple in plot, and the characters are kinda stereotypical archetypes, so maybe that’s why that plan worked so well on Memmeln. Because she’s a fictional character in a simplistic anime movie.

Messed up that this cult of people would destroy an entire world just because they are unhappy existing...

This anime never ceases to amaze me, so Memmeln was the leader of a cult that was trying to summon the ultimate void because her eternal life as an elf felt like an endless loop of war and death causing her to be depressed and lonely. The new fate that Natsuko ended up drawing was a male idol that made me smile when he started singing. The male idol charmed everyone including Memmeln which gave her something as timeless as she is. Now the choir can't get enough of the illustrious male idol character. A nice episode that ended on a high musical note.

This anime may be underappreciated in The West, but its the 2nd most popular Winter anime airing in Japan right now behind Medalist according to Niconico.

@mangabboy I mean, you say "entire world", but "Last Town" is the only place left in the world. It makes sense from her perspective, she probably lived through the world getting destroyed, one country at a time, countless people killed, until now where there's just this one settlement left. What's one more town to end it all, no more struggle.

As for the idol, you could just take it at face value, the juxtaposition of the insanely dark premise of a death cult trying to destroy the world being defeated by a hyper-genki ikemen idol. You could also take it as a commentary on modern Japan lifestyle; a declining population, negative growth, no real solutions in place to solve this crisis that's slowly coming, and the inevitable rise of hikikomoris and NEETs and the booming popularity of idol culture/isekai animes, as people try to avoid the bleak reality that they're living in.

But honestly it's probably just cuz it's random and funny

There was some genuine tension in this episode, and it wasn't instantly deflated! How refreshingly interesting and engaging.

Got a chuckle out of the way Natsuko just barged in and asked the question. And I love that Memerun has, well, at least something going on with her character. Also enjoyed seeing Natsuko make some non-magical drawings, for once, given that she IS supposed to be an artist.

LMFAO the ending, but why did the transformation suddenly end?? Did Memerun give up?

@Josepho-Kun It's 25 seconds, it's not that bad.

It also fits with her character, considering her debut was a magical girl anime, and it also fits with the overall cheesy world of A Tale of Perishing.

You can’t spell SELFISH without an “elf,” and Memmeln is definitely a selfish cunt along with all those idiot Ultimate Void stans. If you're tired of seeing your friends dying defending against the Voids, then at least have the balls to take yourself out of the equation. Don't go deciding to end the world because you’re too chickenshit to keep fighting.

Yes, it’s sad that elves like Memmeln have been fighting for a long time, and losing close friends left right, and center. Yet, even if the Voids weren’t around to cause trouble, the situation would still be the same. Elves will still live long lives and lose friends. It’s part of life, so get over it. Life is hard, and it’s a bitch. We decide what to make of it, don't let it decide for you. I find this sort of situation silly. They could've gone so many other ways with the direction of this story. It’s sort of a cop-out that it took a silly song and dance to snap Memmeln and her band of merry doomsday-preppers out of their funk.

Anyway, I guess it’s time to move on to the next doomsday scenario. Let’s hope these same people don't have a change of heart in a few centuries when they again grow tired of the situation. They won't have another Natsuko to snap them out of their idiotic end-of-day cult mentality. Who will provide the elves with fap material to ease their suffering? May the gods have mercy on us all. 🤣🤣🤣
