| I have read 2 perfect chapters of manga; They are Usogui Chapter 203 and Onani Master Kurosawa Chapter 23. Slam Dunk Chapters 272 to 276 are a perfect stretch of manga. |
| Would be quite reductive to call this unnecessary act of misunderstanding. I'm no big fan of misunderstanding myself (in fact more often than not I hate it), but that's because the majority of misunderstanding in anime/manga aims to create drama, at the expense of character writing by making them act stupid and not grow out of it, and not allowing them to communicate at all. This is different, though. From how I see it, it is attempting to portray a bittersweet, fleeting love that never gets a chance to blossom. This inception of romance can be uncertain, and because both have nothing they can communicate about (rather than them refusing to communicate) and would prefer not to "get the wrong idea", this certainly does happen. It is passing. I think it's pretty well done. Not to say I'd mind them getting together later (good thing about it too is either works) but this is 1 of those few cases where misunderstanding isn't necessarily a writing pitfall. Should come as no surprise but virtually anything can have its place when written appropriately. |
