Another slow, boring episode of One Page, oops I mean Piece. The animation was subpar and that unnecessary flashback of Ulti getting wrecked by Big Mom's attack was awkward since it had the best animation out of the entire episode lol. Everything else was garbage and I feel like I've seen every single nook and cranny of Onigashima by now. I swear Nami and Usopp are just running around in circles.

Yeah the pacing in the manga of the wano arc and what oda is writing now post wano is astronomically different not just in the anime but the manga's wano arc had some pretty slow moving moments which coupled with TOIE's padding and recap, makes things even more slow. He did mention before that he's going to revise the story so he can wrap up one piece sooner, but my god readers of the manga are like surprised at the pacing difference currently, its structured so different in fact that even the cover pages directly tie into the previous chapter's events and when has that ever happened? So evidently oda finally decided that he is going to organize all of his drafts and outlines and just have a tighter grip on the story and some fans did voice some concerns about it being too fast paced but most are actually embracing this new change.

That being said though, anime only watchers of wano, don't feel to dismayed, you have not seen the best of this arc yet and believe me, its going to be a very wild ride so prepare yourself for a very intense thrilling ending to a long story arc. I reckon we should be getting a new opening also for the ending events of this arc.

i only watch these episodes for the previews at this point
that being said preview for the next episode looks really solid and if im not wrong same person who worked on 1017 will be working on this episode

honestly every alternate episode at this point is incredible or at maximum every 2 episodes.
1033 was incredible, 1034 and 35 were mid then 1036 was incredible again but 1037 was mid and 1038 now looks amazing too!!

Unfortunately we got a pretty slow episode this week. The first half was just about the recap of last episode + Shinobu and Momo running away from Kaido and falling down from Onigashima. Second half was still slow, but definitely better.

Seeing Law and Kid teaming up, even if it's just temporary will be needed in a fight against Big Mom. We all know too well what she's capable of.

Zeus didn't only survive, but now he also became Nami's Clima Tact. Ngl I liked him a little bit more as a cloud, but with that Nami's overall power went back up by quite a bit.

I'm honestly shocked about Ulti's toughness. The amount of hits she already took would normally knock out almost everyone. At least she's weakened enough, so that Nami can launch her attack.

Seeing Law's crew in the submarine instantly made me understand that they will rescue Luffy. Still weird how they're also able to hear Luffy's voice. I'm still not sure if his haki is causing this or something else.

Kaido vs Yamato is about to start and I'm really curious about Yamato's "true strength". Hopefully this time nobody interrupts her transformation.

So we see big mom fall in the water and she almost drowns after being in the water after a short while but luffy can be in the water for hours, why is this? (I was thinking his rubber powers do that but they would be weakened in the water due to the devil fruit)

He hasn't been in the water for hours it's only been a few minutes at most.

This week's episode was disappointingly slow. The first half was simply a recap of the previous episode, with Shinobu and Momo fleeing Kaido and collapsing from Onigashima.

The second half was still slow, but much better.

Seeing Law and Kid team up, even if only for a short time, will be necessary in a fight against Big Mom. We've all seen what she's capable of.

Seeing Law's crew in the submarine momentarily taught me that they would save Luffy. I find it strange that they're able to hear Luffy's voice.

Kaido vs Yamato is about to begin, and I'm very intrigued.

It's good to see that Luffy was saved by Trafalgar's crew. Also Yamato seems really serious and is gonna fight Kaido. Can't wait for Luffy to come back tho.

Momo continues talking to everyone via one of the cyborg frogs and tells them that Luffy will SURELY defeat Kaido! THAT’S RIGHT MOMO! NOTHING WILL STOP THE FIFTH EMPEROR, HE’S GOING TO BE THE KING OF THE PIRATES, LIKE THE BADASS HE IS! As a result of hearing this, everyone’s morale skyrockets and they’re all ready to continue the fight.

Shinobu commends Momo for his efforts, and unfortunately Kaido catches up to them. With no way of fighting back, Shinobu continues to carry Momo and attempt to run away. Unfortunately for her, Kaido can keep up with her by simply walking despite her legitimately running for her life and Momo’s as well. Kaido then starts talking big and acting like this big shot, not understanding that Luffy is going to kick his ass, but Momo doesn’t take that crap. He straight up tells Kaido that not only will Luffy kick his ass, but everyone else’s asses will be kicked as well. With that, Kaido attacks and Shinobu tells Momonosuke that if they die, they’ll die together. Shinobu uses her Ripe Ripe Fruit powers to ripen the ground as Kaido destroys the ground around them. So now Shinobu and Momo are both falling into the sea, which is bad since they both possess Devil Fruit powers. Just as a reminder to those who forgot, PEOPLE WHO EAT DEVIL FRUIT POWERS LOSE THE ABILITY TO SWIM AND ARE WEAK TO WATER.

Bao Huang sees this with the cyborg frog and someone gives her the idea of telling everyone about Momo’s fate. The reason being that the samurai’s morale will definitely plummet this time around.

We see that Otama is tearing up, relieved about the fact that Luffy is still alive. Usopp and Nami are running with her and continuing the plan of having Otama command those who were forced to eat Kibi Dango. Some random voice says they are happy for Straw Hat, and themselves as well. Nami and Usopp look down at her Climate Baton and freak out because IT TALKED.

The focus then goes to Big Mom and Kid. For some reason, Big Mom is doubting that Luffy will defeat Kaido. DON’T WORRY BIG MOM. LUFFY WILL KICK YOUR ASS AS WELL. JUST WAIT YOUR TURN. Kid asks her if she really cares about him so much, and she has the AUDACITY to say she wanted to take him out herself. Big Mom mentions that she’s sure he’s dead, but then Law comes into the fray. He mentions that he’s sure Luffy will manage to survive. Kid tells Big Mom that there’s no room for people like her (likely referring to the Five Emperors outside of Luffy) in the new era he’s creating. Law agrees with Kid, and suggests to Kid that the two of them team up against Big Mom.

Back in the Flower Capital, the Fire Festival is still going on and everyone is enjoying themselves. We then see Otoko walking around with Otama’s father. He tells her how the Fire Festival is to repose the deceased and send a fire up to the heavens. She asks if her father Yasuie can see it, and he assures her that since the sky is clear, there’s no way that he can’t.

We get back to Onigashima and we see Cipher Pol “Aigis” Zero discussing what has just transpired. So apparently the initial troops were 24,000 from the Animal Kingdom Pirates (AKA The Beast Pirates) and 3,000 from the Rebels. However, all the Pleasure and Waiters on the Performance Floor turned against Queen, so 4,000 troops changed sides. Now it’s 20,000 for the Beast Pirates and 7,000 for the Rebels.

We get back to Otama’s group and Usopp believes himself to be a genius for making the Climate Baton talk, but then Zeus clarifies that it’s him inside of it. Nami asks him how he became the Climate Baton, given that he was eaten by Hera earlier. Zeus explains that during that moment, his spirit was leaving his body faster than he knew, but when Nami extended her Climate Baton and when Hera bit Zeus, he was pressed into the Climate Baton. Nami mentions now her weapon is annoying her, and reminds Zeus that she doesn’t forgive him because he tried to kill her before. Unfortunately, she learns that Zeus can’t get out of the Climate Baton without Big Mom’s power, so she’s stuck with him indefinitely. They run into Bao Huang, but before they can act, Ulti comes out of NOWHERE and lands a critical hit on Usopp via her Ulti Mortar. She then grabs Otama and essentially holds her hostage. Nami, like the rest of the audience, are all shocked that SHE’S STILL UP AFTER GETTING ABSOLUTELY ANNIHILATED BY BIG MOM’S ATTACK! BRO WHAT THE HELL IS SHE MADE OF?! Nami immediately charges at Ulti to stop her from hurting Otama, and she gets a nice assist from Zeus. Zeus transforms the end of the Climate Baton into a mace and helps to strike Ulti’s face. Zeus tells her to use it as usual and that he’ll assist. He says that Ulti’s skin is too hard, but her insides are messed up due to Big Mom’s attack earlier (WHICH MAKES SENSE GIVEN THE STATE SHE WAS IN AFTER IT). Zeus suggests using a Lightning Blast, but Nami rejects it because it’ll hit Otama as well. So… Usopp shoots Special Attack Green Star! Sargasso. Then a bunch of shrubbery comes out at the point of impact and now Ulti and Otama are separated. Nami then uses the opportunity to go for the final blow against Ulti.

Law’s crewmates are steering the submarine and they talk about hearing a voice. They go closer to the source of that voice to find out that it’s none other than STRAW HAT LUFFY! LUFFY IS SUCH A BADASS THAT HE CAN TALK TO PEOPLE UNDERWATER WITHOUT MOVING HIS MOUTH! MAN THAT’S SUCH BADASSERY!

As they help Luffy out, Yamato makes it to the top of the island, where Luffy and Kaido were fighting earlier. It seems like he is looking for someone, and he runs toward where the purple smoke is coming from. He finds Kaido and calls him out. Yamato tells him that he’s here to cut ties with him!

MAN I’M SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT EPISODE!

ya some stuff happened and it was relevant but thats about it. No interesting fights occured and there were too many flashbacks. this episode really does feel like its just set up for the next episode. Not ranked lower because like I said, relevant things happened and it wasnt a waste of time.

Luffy is about to get back into action!!! But I'm pretty sure Momonosuke will become a dragon since he can turn into one. Getting close to Sanji vs Queen maybe next episode I also want more Brook and Robin. Jinbei too. Zoro vs King is getting close same as Gear 5. Wano is so far one of the best arcs ever.

Thank you. You’re the first person to have the same opinion as mine. Whenever I criticize the One Piece anime (not the manga!) people instantly jump and defend it like crazy. I get how much people love One Piece, and I’m one of them of course, but they decline to see the bad side of the anime such as the horrible pacing, recaps, reused animation, etc..
