| oh dear. to answer your question I guess: I would say homemade ramen is wayyyyy better than that cup bullshit. However, as I'm not pro...a ramen place near me has better ramen then me making it at home. the cost is prob like...getting it at a restaurant most expensive..cup ramen is the least. |

| I've never been to a proper ramen-serving joint, though I'd certainly go if I could find one nearby. But I've made pretty simple ramen at home before and that was definitely better than the packaged stuff. You just get a pack of the chinese noodles (chukamen) - I found them in the international section of my grocery store - and then make the soup yourself and add whatever you like. The recipe I used for the soup stock was just basic - broth, some soy sauce, some sake, a little salt and sugar, and some garlic and ginger sauteed in a bit of sesame oil. I had that with just a little green onion and some nori (toasted seaweed) and that was pretty good, but obviously you can go a lot further in topping it off. I expect making your own ramen noodles from scratch would be the best, but complicates things quite a bit. |

| homemade ramen can be really good.. if you're actually a good cook : ) personally though, i like miso soup better. cup noodles are good if you're short on time, and they can taste good, if they're not european made. |

I took the Maruchan ramen (beef flavor) and I added leftover fried potatoes and I think I put some kind of meat in it but I can't remember for sure. It was really good. ^^ |

| I eat ramen maybe 4 or 5 times a week, adding vegetables most times and some soya or hot sauce. That costs about 3 or 4€ a week or less. Its a little more expensive but I buy from the Asian shops because I like the seaweed or sesame oil packets. More variety also. |

| I tried to make ramen from scratch one time and failed miserably. Both in trying to make the right noodle size, and in trying to compensate for my lack of deep fryer. Nong Shim makes the best of this instant dish by the way. And the only time I've ever had authentic is in Japan. |
