Great episode, the training was rather interesting and we saw how the scientist had to deal with the costums of the villagers.
The interaction between the girl and the main was quite interesting, she think that he wants to destroy her faith and he doesn't see anything worth in her faith. I wonder how they will get along, maybe those kind of relation are clichés but I'm still interested.
And lol she sang in French at the last part, well she had a good accent.
But why the fuck do they have to show fanservice in a moment like this?

And of course the animation still at top-notch.

Its quite obvious that Sara's cryptic rants have a deeper meaning, its left to be seen what that is.
Loved how doctor Aries convinced everyone to give her blood for the test by offering them some fancy drink...

Well more interesting than the first episode, but even so it's still only decent.

Interesting episode. Loved the french singing part; even though I don't quite like french and still studying it, I really like french singing :D

Whew I really thought Edgar bought the farm last episode. :(

The Mayan oral folk legend somehow confused me, as it had a lot of contradictions, ambiguous and vague details very much like the real life traditional and ethnic folklores around the world today. How the hell did Rooy Kanu know about fountains and thirst when he was a fishman before? And the sea turtle hit a rock? It said earlier in the narrative there was only water! I admit that the rock could be technically underwater anyway but the turtle could just swim away. LOL Opps I'll stop now before I totally turn into an idiot reading too much out of a fictional legend within another fiction. :D Still the recovered AFOS relic matches the headless Birdman in the story, eh?

Nora just manhandled one of the fighter maintenance crew, ouch that's gotta hurt. And then proceeded to "handle" somebody else after that. XD

I don't mind the fanservice, Sara is a goddess literally and figuratively in the end of the episode! *nosebleed* Okay back to the mecha now... :P
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

Interesting how this episode is full of machines and yet so human. I love that last scene of Sara singing and things floating. Makes me wonder whether she's fully human or not. The song is beautiful!

CGI still pretty bad. And why is Focker so over Aries. Isn't he with Claudia at this point? It doesn't seem like just hitting on her, but a bit more serious. Don't like that. Claudia is a better woman anyway. Still can't get over the fact that Roy Focker is frickin white.

Continuing to forget the technical and graphical one, and concentrating on the plot and the story ... well, I can say that does not involve so exciting, the first, but there is something interesting. Arguments, which are recounted in a good way, but still do not have the unbridled force to break through the hood to normal view until now! I hope soon to come topics beautiful tough and intriguing! * _ *

It is some kind of extra meaning for the first tv series too.
Sara's singing has very powerful effect on living things, it also can be connected to Linn Minmay when she was able to move Zentradis' soul just by singing. Like somekind of hidden code for peace awaken inside of all Zentradi's whom heard her singing.

yup
WAY too much CG
too much action at that as well

what a raping shape it is because there were some moments that stood out like the intimate dialogues, especially during the phone call between Aries and Roy

someone, anyone, please tell me rocks didn't just float in gravity in a Macross series

The part where Shin got PTSD and got into the fallen fighter's cockpit after protecting Mao reminded me of the similar scene in Frontier when Saotome got into the cockpit of Gilliam's VF-25F.

Very nice singing, but what is this magical power Sara possesses? o_O Her voice even reached the beach, apparently. Or was it translated through this big cross somehow? That thing captured by the UN forces started "leaking". Is it some erotic reference or what? Old legends often have some sexual symbolism, especially when it comes to the myths about the beginning of the world (creation, etc) . By the way, it was the song from the first ED. Unfortunately it's sung not by Sara's seiyuu, but still very charming.

P.S. The flying fish was nice to see after all this talk about the Ocean and the Sky.

It took me an episode, but Sara reminds me of Balsa from Moribito. I also just realized that we apparently had transforming airplane mechas in 2008. I must have missed that.

So the island is just called Mayan, and the people there aren't actually Mayans, as in Yucatán Peninsula. Regardless, the last time a civilization known as Mayans opened up to a foreign culture, it did not end well for them. That being said, can't believe the Mayans' cultural tradition was thrown away for canned juice. The UN forces are utterly disrespectful to the Mayans, and the Mayans are completely conflicted with modernization and cultural heritage. Everything's going to be on fire by the end I assume.

Lastly, that ending scene with Sara singing made me think of the Disney film Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Something about ethereal magitek, floating stones with mystical engravings, and water.
