By "your favourite," I mean, was your favourite form: the book, one of the manga, or one of the films, and why?

Difficult to choose… I first saw the two films and I loved the concept. In the book, there is more emotion (I even cried :,[ ) but I confused all the names =S . The manga is great too, but I don’t really enjoy the art.

I voted the book ! =)

I've worked my way through all five. I have to agree with Mashima; there is more emotion in the novel, but my favourite will always be the manga.
I have a friend whose favourite character is Mim, but I found that weird because she's female.

Like Mashima and Mitsukai, the novel is great, but I have to go with manga since I like seeing the artwork.

I voted the novel
though the manga artwork is amazing and the background stories are really good
but the novel has way more depth and emotion
I got into battle royale through the films
and I think the second one is better as it has a better storyline and the characters are more developed

favourite character
Mim of course
but I also love Sugimura and Mitsuko

I voted the original manga. I loved the first movie but it's not amazing and the second movie.. sucks. The novel is awesome but I found the English version to be very poorly written and I haven't read Blitz Royale.

The manga focuses on so many of the character (I think representing them better than the book) and the artwork is really cool.
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

I voted for the manga.

Haven't read the novel though; I'm curious where you all got it.

Definitely the novel. The first movie was too short and the first manga didn't tap into the characters' psyches as well as the novel did. (And I've yet to read either of the sequels)

You live in the US, right? Viz translated the novel years ago; they're still printing it so you should be able to find a copy online, if not in a bookstore.

Hmm I watched them in this order:
Movie
Manga
Novel

And I can say that I enjoyed the manga the most, even though they gave Mitsuko's background a lot of unneecessary chapters.

Seen, read, or own all of the above. I definately have to go with the novel, it was the first that started the cult phenomena so it must remain on a pedestal. The movies completely veered away from the main plot of the book, although they were good in their own right, and the manga was much too drawn out for my tastes, I like series under about seven graphic novels.

My vote went to the novel, and anyone who hasn't read it needs to, not only is it my favorite of the Battle Royale incarnations but it is also one of my favorite novels. (And I read a lot.) Period.

The novel is by far the best. If you haven't read it, go read it right now.

For me easily the manga - i saw the first half hour of the movie ages ago - around 2000, and i loved the concept and idea, but never managed to watch it all - uni life im afraid! lol, but picked up the manga and loved it, then watched the film - very different to the manga but good none the less. Then finally read the novel which was awesome - glad i did it in that order. But def the manga for me!

I would defintely say the manga as well. While I haven't read the book yet, I did see the movie. It's good, I rather enjoyed it, and it's the reason I picked up the manga in the first place.

However, I loved being able to read more into the back stories of the characters, and I loved the artwork. Some of it was brutal, but I still enjoyed it.
