Has there ever been a line in a anime/manga that you have seen/read and it seriously bugged you, for lack of a better descriptor? I don't mean like the meaning was weird or you hated the translation, I mean something rather thought-provoking and/or emotional.

Spoilers may occur.

The one that really got to me was from the first light novel of Shakugan no Shana: The Girl With Fire In Her Eyes.

That seemed to really hit me somewhere deep in the heart; how things could have ended up if she didn't choose that path. The ending theme song for the anime doesn't help either, what with the slightly melancholic tone of it at the start and those pictures of Shana.

Translations are weird, I would name many but you get use to them.

I can't think of an exact line but I can think of a scene in Death Note. In the last episode, when Light is escaping after he was shot, it showed how he was before he got the Death Note. That really made me think.. I mean, one little thing can change your life forever.

"People die when they are killed."

I think it's from Fate/Stay Night. Not sure though.

I don't think "bothered" would have been the best word to use for such a topic.

Certainly, the one I'll be mentioning didn't bother me. But it made me think and fall in love with the ARIA series (at least the manga so far; haven't watched series yet) :)

It's from the second volume of the AQUA manga. Mainly Alicia's line in the spoiler.

Nostalgia. I think that's a fitting reason why I like slice-of-life anime and manga. Even though I usually never experience some things I see in those types of anime and manga in real life, I do get a sense of nostalgia. Maybe it's because if things like that did happen in my life (or any other experiences I did have), I'd never experience it again, or at least not in the same way. It would never feel the same as the first time. Slice-of-life anime and manga pull me in with the characters and sometimes it's like I share their feelings. And when it's over, it's over. It's a bit sad. Sure, I can watch or read it again, but it probably wouldn't be the same.

I haven't seen all of FLCL, but I saw an episode that had a line I will carry with me forever.

Also, the fansubbers of some forgettable series (possibly Tales of Symphonia? Tales of Eternia? Tales of Forgettable-Game-Spin-Offia?) were disgusted with the final episode, so they added jokes over the dialogue.

I will carry that line with me to the grave, I think.

I just saw episode 15/16 of Shakugan no Shana. The revelations in those episodes didn't help remedy that feeling yet, either.

Near the end of the Trigun manga everything everyone was saying was hard to understand.

The entire Eat-Man manga was also confusing but that's because the translation was horrible.
