Pretty sweet movie, does help if you've seen the movie or series but it's not necessary. At first I thought it was Connor from the first movie, but it's a new Immortal member of the MacLeod clan, Colin. Surprising the MacLeod clan never took over all of Scotland if not England considering how many immortals they had working for them at one point or another.

Colin was kinda one-dimensional though, the villain was right that he really squandered his 2000 years of life. He didn't even manage to get very much stronger up until the very end. If he'd been training or hunting other Immortals to build up his quickening that'd be one thing, but he was just constantly hunting down a guy who kept kicking his ass. He was insanely lucky the way he kept winding up on holy ground or separated in some other fashion, since he never really stood a chance. The villain here seemed more interesting than the hero ... he was cultured, could write poetry in three languages, and ruled one of the last cities left in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Granted, he was a sociopathic, murderous tyrant, but everyone has their flaws :P

8/10, good job Madhouse.

I was looking for a cartoon i watched as a kid (random VHS of my grandmother) just to see they jump through big ass vents again. Lol.

As for the movie its very well animated, and had some good fights. But nothing special beside that..

Loved it!

I am a huge fan of the first Highlander movie and have laughed my way through the rest of the crappy "sequals" and TV series but this was a great reimagining.

I loved that it had Nightbreed style monsters at the start (another fabulous movie).

This would have been a 9/10 movie for me if he had the Dragon headed Katana and maybe a 10/10 if it had the Queen soundtrack.

Good animation, great action: a fun restart. True enough to the original formula (maybe too copied), but lacking lighter moments and the emotion of the first movie. I found that the scifi environnement brought things more stupid than needed.
The voices, apart from a few accents, had nothing hooking.

Enjoyment: 4/4
Score: 7/10, 6/10 for people who don't care for Highlander.

If I remember well enough, the origin behind immortality is revealed in the second live movie (the least bad of the sequels). It's pretty scifi-esque.

One of the things that made the original so good. ^^

I thought this movie was absolutely terrible and even if I had knowledge about the franchise I wouldn't change my mind. Besides the boring plot and too many flashbacks, the biggest issue would be the lack of immersion factor especially the color design doesn't match well. Some characters looks too brighter than the background and the action scenes were pretty basic. I would recommend "Kurozuka" which share some plot beats and with appropriate art direction.
