Definitely my favorite villainess anime out of all the ones I've watched. The premise is simple yet so unique and all the characters are lovable. I love Grace/Kenzaburo's parent moments, and I love how he treats these children like his own and how supportive he is of them 🥺 Along with one of the best openings and endings of this season, this is surely to be a prime candidate in my personal list of AOTY for 2025. It'll at least be in my top 10, and the year's just started. Overall, what a fun show this has been. 9/10 no complaints other than this better get a season 2 because them cutting it off with Grace's mother finally being revealed is so!!!!!!

@siraqOrNoraq Oh thank you for the update, I appreciate it.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

@siraqOrNoraq In the first episode with Anna's mom, it seemed like she was formerly a noble's daughter, but was no longer a part of the nobility, and in this episode it seems like she might have known Grace's father, so maybe she attended the school when Grace's father and mother were attending, which would mean that Anna was actually a descendant of a noble family.

For all Virgile's, and the rest of the student council's assurances that Grace's inability to speak like a commoner wouldn't be a problem, the audience still receives it poorly. Feels painfully realistic. It's like the standards go up as soon as you're being judged by people outside of the school.

I absolutely love this show. One of the few I'm hoping for 2nd season. If I am disappointed with anything about it. There really wasn't anything with the real Grace outside seeing her depressed in a cage.

Basically, from what I can guess. Grace mom is the one who made a deal with the fairy to save Grace. Dad was summoned to help Grace's reputation and eventually to give Grace the attention and support she needs.

Just like in the play, Grace mom can not meet Grace at all because it will undo the spell.
Yeah, I was thinking something like that too. Just wild speculation for now though. And I'm also disappointed the real Grace played no role at all in the entire season.

Fun season, looking forward to more, and I hope we get to hear from OG Grace too. The only time they showed her looked like a pretty sorry state.
Someone a few weeks ago suggested something like, if Grace could see how much more popular Kenzaburou was compared to her, she might sit in the cage by choice, depressed.

They know how to break that fourth wall about the way this season ended. O.O

So much for my prediction of breaking through the elegance cheat with daughter or real grace power. Didn't see the stuff about the mom coming, though. Not the most interesting arc to end on, but overall this was a very pleasant surprise. Second time a gender bender isekai has been shockingly good.

Another quite nice anime adaptation by Ajia-do. This has become a pretty nice and comfy anime to watch this season. Season 2 might take a while to come out because the content adapted from the source manga was up to Chapter 27 and the manga is just currently at chapter 28 or so. So yeah, no season 2 for the foreseeable future and let's just hope they won't suddenly axe the manga or something due to some unforeseen reason and all.

*The way affinity levels rise (i.e. the sparkly glow) has been making me chuckle since episode 1 😆

This was a pretty chill anime. It was a nice twist on the villainess trope and I really like how genre savvy the whole family was. While I may not be rushing to manga to know what happens next, I will certainly watch a second season when/if one is announced.

Dang, I was worried at the beginning that this will be one of those "I have to play villainess" even though it makes no sense, but this was well thought out story, events, world and characters.
I mean, all that was nothing complicated and the story is not epic or anything, but it all makes sense and every potential bullshit was addressed. I respect that very much.
It even addressed what happened to the soul he replaced, which is usually creepily ignored in other shows of that type xD

Very fun watch

So from what i understood, the play was about Grace and Anna's mothers swapping roles with the help of a fairy, that's why Grace father tried to reach out for Anna's mother, they are temporarily switching bodies for some reason, or at least that's what i understood from the episode, also explains why Grace (Kenzaburou) noticed that Anna's mother had nobility traits and she panicked.

Hope for a S2, probably the funniest otome-villainess series I've watched; I'm not a super fan of the genre, but I watched almost all of the otome series released in the last 5 years and this one is my fav probably on par with Akuyaku Reijou Level 99.

@Ruledragon The play was just based from an old fairy tale. What Grace's mom did was adapting the long story to the theatrical play format, the strange thing is the play cast fits perfectly with the current student council crew as though she can see the future when making it. Anna's mom may simply just an ex noble who was acquaintance of Grace's dad which explain why Anna can use magic.

I thought the finale was kind of disappointing. Aside from the play, it was all just set-up for the next season. If we get a next season, that is. The stuff with her mother was interesting, at least. This series was pretty good. Though. I liked the first 3/4 of the series quite a bit better than the last 4th. It just kind of started to feel a little stale toward the end. I guess I should have known we wouldn't get all the answers in the finale.

I would definitely watch a 2nd season of this. It was a pretty fun series with a unique premise. I was very glad they never got weird with the whole dad being in a girl's body thing. I was worried before the series started. It is anime, so I just assumed he was going to do things like feel himself up, etc It was so nice that they kept it all wholesome.

If they do manage to get green lit for a second season, my score for this season could get bumped up a bit. I very much enjoyed myself with this series and gave it a...

No ballroom dance between Anna and Grace to conclude the season. Sadge.

Grace's mother and Lucas, unexpected MVPs of this finale. Such a shame the show concluded without giving us an explanation regarding Jacqueline's role in the story tho.

Quite lovely show overall. Premise was unique and refreshing, cast was full of charming characters, voice acting was nice and comedy with Kenzaburou being constantly misunderstood by Anna and co. was really of my liking. So far, my favorite Villainess anime even though I haven't watched that many if I'm honest.

8/10 - Hoping for a second season announcement soon.

It was really quite nice. I thought they might wrap up the whole story in this episode, but I guess they left us to hope for another season. There are even more unresolved mysteries introduced! I would gladly watch the continuation, it was a fun watch, not very intense and not very cliché for this type of stories either.

The details were actually very well thought through, explaining how this or that thing works, connecting to the real world and the game dynamics, as well as Kenzaburou's personality. The fact he is an old guy with a constant dad mode is such a nice touch too. It opened the opportunity to explore the world and characters without any romance that is usually present in otome-isekai stories by default. They played it lightly with only the shining attachment popping up, but as I see it, this is just a sincere appreciation for an admirable human being, without making it somehow weird.

Even leaving Grace out of the equation, no one has been romancing around among themselves, which allowed the characters to become truly good friends. Since they weren't getting tangled in love drama, jealousy and all that rot, it allowed them to form deeper connection as a group as well. The end scene highlights it perfectly. All the characters were united, and Grace was there, perfectly comfortable with a self-assigned role of supporting the youngsters.

This idea got also emphasised by the play, where true love is the mother's love, rather than anything romantic. It makes so much sense that this show explores the parental view more, considering who the main character is. I'm glad they didn't try to focus the situation on its initial ridiculousness, forcing the typical tropes without any consideration, just because following a typical path is easy, but genuinely created something special here.

Well I just my best guess, since I don’t read the written material, but you could be right.

Maybe there is more to the story, especially with the speaking to a glowing org at the end.

I'm glad this series didnt end with some epic/intense action arc full of tension and drama and just ended like a slice of life anime. Fits the vibe way better.

Also glad the mother and daughter werent a huge part of the story. As nice as they are I still want just the fantasy stuff so I'm glad they just had a supporting role occasionally popping in for commentary. Especially after Endo & Kobayashi where the real world stuff was a huge part of it and it ended with a drama action sequence.

This was a nice series that I'll definitely re-watch in the future.

What an ending for their festival?! Grace's mother was still a mystery to me. The orb was talking to Grace's mother. I wonder if there'll be a part 2 for this story plot.

"Forever Dad Mode" LOOOOL

.

Also, Dad couldn't control the "blessing" that makes him talk like a upperclass.

So the guys found a way using the "Fairy", as an excuse, lol.

WOMP WOMP (Teehee)

.

Also, everyone's still wondering on Grace's mother.

But I am also wondering on Anna's mother, which Grace's dad saw and then Anna's mom did a "shhhh" and disappeared. Which this encounter suggests Anna's mom knows Grace's dad before.

Which make me think... does this mean when "Grace" talked about "our current set up is the same as years ago with my mom?". Where Anna and Grace's moms are also best friends and friends with the Duke in the middle of their friendship. (like a love triangle ) But the Duke ends up with Grace's mom, while Anna's mom went elsewhere and they stopped talking to each other for years til now when they saw each other again. (but did not talk to each other, nor did Anna's mom meet with Grace's mom, which suggests the "moms" relationships aren't in good terms after their "love triangle's" final outcome)

But... they never actually explain the real reasons of why Anna's mom have to go into peasant-life, and why Grace's mom keep on disappearing without meeting Grace in person...

(why "the right time"? but she did say the "cancel out the fairy magic"... does this mean Grace's mom's the reason why the Dad got Isekai'd into Grace's body in the first place? And who's the Orb? it's all a mystery, especially since these part were "off-screen" that not even Dad's family back on Earth see it, they only saw Grace's sunset scene and not the carriage scene)

.

I usually roll my eyes a lot at the final episodes of those kind of shows, but this one was genially wholesome and pleasant, with that feel-good vibe to it. For once Grace didn't find a solution and her cheat was a hindrance and instead of turning it into a comedy, they went for other compensating for her instead with kindness and understanding. And the firework part was especially well played considering who Grace is on the inside: with everyone acting not like love sick fools, but concerned dedicated friends, Anna essentials dong the "friendship ending" with all the love interests, and each character complementing Grace not in especially romantic manner, but appreciating her or rather him, for his personality, temperament and skill; things that are true no mater age, gender or status of the praised individual. All in all I braced for cringe and was very positively surprised how nice it turned out! O! And I love the little magical cliffhanger with Graces mum and maybe Annas as well?

Does anyone feel like this anime is a bit too average and under standard. I'm up to the end of episode 5 and so far I found nothing is intense or something that keep the hype to watch like other otome game genre. I think this anime is not intense enough like the way how Hamefura or Tsunlise or Mobsekai or Akulas or Villainess Level 99. I hereby this otome game genre is boring or not interesting enough to continue pass episode 5 so I official announce dropping this series.
Conclusion: Boring.
