| I think doing another tournament is a creative retreat but it does mean a return to action comedy and this series is good at that. In that vein, I'm very happy to see Koto again. Most fun character in the series. I'm also happy to see that Fist of the North Star reject Chuu lose already. If his character design weren't bad enough he was smack in the middle of the worst episodes in the series so getting rid of him prevents a repeat of that. |

| YESSS Koto is back! This makes me wish that the Dark Tournament had been the shorter one, this easily deserves 40+ episodes instead (assuming it just stays a tournament). One thing that doesn't make sense though is how Shigure is in the competition when Hiei sliced his head in half a few episodes ago... |

Have they forgotten that he won the dark tournament? He should be a household name by now... Even Koto seemed surprised when Yusuke won his block... There weren't any S,A, or even B class Demons in the Dark Tournament with the exception of the younger Toguro who was a B class, that is why they can still be surprised. |
| So Shigure did actually survive despite his duel against Hiei supposedly being one to the death. I cannot imagine this mini-tournament arc being very exciting, especially with this episode, but perhaps the next one will prove me wrong. |

| If there were no overlaps with our heroes I would of lost my mind. I'm glad at least one of them lost. Also pretty excited to see Shura vs Yomi, that should actually be real cool. |

| This one was just okay. The tournament is too similar to the Dark Tournament with the same announcer, combatants, Koenma and co. returning, and such. I felt that the Dark Tournament pushed the envelope of reasonable length to the breaking point but made it work; this seems a bit rushed and with poorer character designs (stuff is looking kind of stretched). We'll see how it goes, though. |
| Did we really need to waste an episode on theses boring meaningless fights when there's only 8 episodes left, just get into the main fights already plus that little shura kid is fuckin annoying. |

| OK the tournament's started, seems alright but again we are essentially just rehashing the Dark Tournament saga, I mean it doesn't help that we got some of the Dark Tournament combatants back again even if it's fun to have characters like Chu and Jin back again even if they are just there for the sake of it, the same announcer of Koto again, Koenma, Botan and Jorge back again for some reason and of course Yusuke, Hiei and Kurama are going to advance in the prelims because they are the main characters at this point. I mean I'm if it just sounds like I'm just complaining here but it just the Dark Tournament again, it's just the Dark Tournament again but much shorter and more rushed. Yomi's going to get the first fight with his son I guess. It just feels like at this point they just completely ran out of ideas and just throw this at us again. At least when we were at the Dark Tournament arc the reason why it was so long is because Togashi wanted to give us the feel of what a tournament would be like and it feels believable to be quite long even if it dragged towards the end but here there's no reason for another tournament anyway. It's probably gonna be interesting a fight between Yomi and Shuri but I don't know I feel like I'm gonna be more interested in how Yusuke's fight is gonna play out when we actually get to it. For now, I'm just indifferent at the moment but we'll see, we'll see. |
