While Ryouma's relationship with Botan grew closer, it looks like trouble is still here as he gets into another fight a tougher foe.

Ryouma and Yuu makes a surprisingly good team when they fight together. Not the the type of duo I had expected but one their family needs. They should team up more together.

A fierce enemy on the loose, and both Hyoma and Yu face one of the largest Tsukumogami groups: Sogenbi, of which the Kyoto Saenome has been chasing for quite awhile now. The informant Aogi going as far as to track down the whereabouts of the group with Uchiki, this is their only role in this mission, but end up being surrounded by Hikikiri, Shimoto and Mushiro for Hyoma, Yu and Tsubaki to take down.

Wasting no time, Hyoma gets in on the action, but Sogenbi is to the point of immortality, and it takes a feat to defeat them. Though their willpower is challenged time and time again, both Hyoma and Yu make a formidable team, though at the expense of Hyoma inserting himself into danger once again, forgetting his promise to Botan that he will not hurt himself.

Decently good action.

A group that has torture tools as their vessels huh thats a rather picture. Still the fact that they're showing up now really shows just much Hyoma's coming has changed the status quo. And man the group really had the strength and guile to make them a real threat to Hyoma and co. Transforming into a larger form doesn't make you safe from mad Yu thats for sure. Some rather interesting improvisation on Hyoma's part in the end though. Overall though a fun ep that featured a rather interesting enemy this time while showing that the teamwork between Yu and Hyoma still has a way to go.

Lots of important information and interesting interactions this episode...

But that final fight was bad, not sure if it's budget constraints or just boring directing. It started off strong with the introduction of the Sogenbi eviling it up but the majority of the encounter felt like talking mixed with stills of fireguy who got merced off-camera, then more talking while Hyoma stood there posing with the door pulls, a little running around by Aogi then more talking, etc.  A real shame on Saw's part specifically since there's always a lot of potential for visual pop with a weapon design like that, though I'm sure it'd be hell and hella expensive to animate to the fullest.

At least the animation is consistent. The anime definitely has potential for better and more impactful fights tho, but even the first episode was average in animation, I don't know if we can expect more than we already got.

Yeah the animation was consistent, which makes me lean toward a bad directing choice for the sequence. Earlier fights in the series have been of similar quality in terms of animation but they've all managed to maintain a certain amount of dramatic tension that this one absolutely failed at. The recent Kodomori 'test'? The scuffle with Aogi? The fight with Yu? Well, all the way back to the beginning, the animation has never been all 'that', but none have been to the point of this where it may as well have been a puppet show recreation of a dramatic showdown. The elements were all there, but the execution was terrible.

I just feel there is so little emotion.. I know MC is very dense but for someone who gets beaten up every second episode I just hate how he doesn't show any emotion, no anger, no saddness, no nothing.. I feel like there is only one character (apart Botan) who shows emotion and that is Yuu, but even then it's only because it's big part of her character (meaning - being overly affectionate to Botan and yelling on MC).. And just FYI when I say "doesn't show any emotion" that doesn't mean confining the emotions but rather the emotions not existing, like at all..

I just want the MC to show something.. for fu*k sake atleast be angry when they beat you up, you hate those things, you dispise them, so act like it!

Thank you, I rest my case.

That was a pretty good episode with Hyouma teaming up with Yu and Tsubaki. Yu had a comedic moment where she threatened Hyouma to tell Botan that he has a side girl in Tsubaki.

Don't order Yu around as the final guy they took out showed what she's capable of when she gets mad. BTW, Tsubaki knows about Botan right? I wonder if she's just teasing Hyouma...

Good to have more Tsubaki, she's amusing. Looks like she's also after the umbrella. Hyoma had to practice calling Botan by her name lol.

I'll be honest Hyoma style of fighting is boring, like nothing special (just like his personality)

But other than that I guess it's an okay episode

Always love to see Hyouma and Yu interact with each other lol

I thought these guys were going to be a way bigger threat though. I know there are probably more members but still

I'm not sure if the villains for this episode are now permanently gone or not but if they are, then that's kind of a waste.
Hikikiri and Shimoto looked like a threat but got whooped far too quickly.
Also, Aogi could've been a trump card unlikely companion for the protags later on in the series but, they gave it away far too soon for little to no payoff.

Hyouma is starting to feel stagnant and the action scenes on a budget are not helping him but at least Yuu was a bit funny.

The afro guy was retarded. Despite all his posturing about how he was going to torture Hyouma, the moment he had him surrounded on all sides by his sawblade sashes and ready to carve him up, he inexplicably halted them and stood there doing absolutely nothing until Hyouma collected his composure enough to erase them.
