| This feels like the Minato redemption arc where he is trying his best to be himself again. Nanao and Kaito had some drama that escalated. Kaito is definitely one of the tougher character to get along with. Plus, I think this episode did a decent job at selling the character personalities. An episode like this featured the emotional elements of the show. |

| Cousins, MY FOOT! 20 minutes of practically shouting they're boyfriends - probably the clearest case of it I can recall, sans actually saying the word out loud. And it was done in the most beautiful way too, throughout the entire episode: internal stuff, external factors, interactions, quite literally everything. Take a bow, Tsurune. (Pun not intended.) But for the love of FUCK, enough with the Ka-chan, idk who's doing the subs but they need a bonk on the head. |
| This episode had parallels to when Minato and Seiya had their issues with their relationship, with one person starting Kyudo just because the other seemed to enjoy it so much. I really enjoyed the character moments this episode, and Kaito and Nanao each have their flaws, but they look out for each other very well, and make up for each other's flaws. The competition between them was beautiful, and the episode itself was so well done. Best episode of the season, and one of the best of the entire series. KyoAni can make almost anything excellent. |
| Kaito and Nanao's friendship issues with Kyudo has that similar feel to it when Minato and Seiya had their own problems back last season and Minato himself referenced that moment as he encouraged Nanao to stop this ongoing feud and meet up with Kaito for a duel, as did Seiya when he talked to Kaito before giving him the keys to the club. It felt fitting for them to settle their differences with a sudden death duel at Kyudo and now matter how much they both tried, they were very even all the way to the end when Nanao's bow gave out as the string snapped. Thanks to their duel, animated beautifully once again, both friends have finally purged their frustration with each other and are now on better terms with each other again. This was a great episode, overall. I enjoyed how this issue was handled and seeing more of Kaito and Nanao's backstory of their friendship before joining the Kyudo club. Hopefully with this matter sorted, the team can get practicing again with the nationals fast approaching. The sooner Minato is allowed to shoot with his bow and arrows again, the better! =) |

Kaito was always the character I dislike the most in the show and since I never gave a shit about Nanao's entire existence either, it sure was extra difficult for me to pay attention this time. But well, at least production values and visuals helped me stay interested enough. |
| Can't say I'm surprised that we get drama/backstories regarding Nanao and Kaito but more grown and development is always a plus for me. Seeing them throwing arrows frustratingly and ending with a laugh left me satisfyed. Also dear God that Kaito's drop kick... this guy surely doesn't fuck around lol |

| The bad thing about Tsurune is... I strongly dislike every single main character in this show! But I've liked archery ever since I was a kid, and the archery-focused episodes are always amazing, so I just force myself through all the boring, irritating drama like 75% of the first season and the past two episodes this season. But my episode rating dropped from an 8/10 for 1-3 to 6/10 in 4 to 5/10 in 5. Just... Why isn't there a single likeable character in the main cast!? They're all selfish, arrogant and pushy, which is all the more grating because they aren't even that good at their sport! (And except for Minato, are unlikely to ever become good even in the future.) I thought I'd like the coach, but he fails to leave any kind of impression even though he seems to be practically the 2nd lead. Also the blond freckled boy, who is an okay person but as a trade-off has all the personality of a rock. I mean, I think the author was going for realism when she made them all a bunch of brats, but something like, say, Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (another novel-based anime focusing on guys who play an individual sport trying to function as a team) managed to have characters with realistic flaws and plenty shortcomings re: interpersonal relationships who were still endearing and relatable in one way or another. I had zero interest in marathon running, but I still binge-watched KazeTsuyo in a week and rated it 9/10 because an awesome cast can make you care for a topic you don't normally even pay any attention to... And then there's Tsurune, which taints one of my favourite individual sports with a cast full of a**holes who never seem to become likeable or relatable no matter how many focus episodes they each get. Also, Kaitou is easily my most hated character in the main team. I despise men who think "my way is the way of a Real Man" and try to force that on others (usually with loud yelling and punching). The exact opposite of a real man, imo. |
| Oh my gosh this was episode was really special I like how they go into detail on the boys' friendships. Kaito and Nao are a very special case. I'm glad they were able to work out their differences in the end. The ed song is perfect in every situation lol. Y’all in the comment section need to chill lmao. They’re actually cousins. Ship them with other members lol |
