The last anime(s) you watched that made you feel like it was a serious accomplishment / enlightenment

Sora no Otoshimono: Forte

(but I'm disappointed the Synapse was not given as much attention as it should have been given, and Ikaros' character arc didn't go how it should have either, even though Astraea and Mikako are the best girls)

and Toradora

(but I think I will need to watch it a second time to actually enjoy it, since the first time I watch something I'm just trying to familiarize myself with it, like when you don't get familiar with new surroundings for a long time before you can actually relax and enjoy them)

Don't take "serious accomplishment / enlightenment" too literally.

You can post in an ironic way, too.

I'm almost finished with Fate/Stay UBW (thank god) and I feel like I deserve an award for not dropping it yet.

I watched Ergo Proxy recently and while I have some complaints with the execution, direction, etc. the plot kinda blew my mind like very few others have.

The only reason I watched it was to get to Heaven's Feel. Those three movies should feel rewarding enough (hopefully).

@epidemia78 I wouldn't go as far as to say they made UBW worthwhile. But HF is definitely a lot more serious and interesting than UBW, despite a lot of things not making sense due to the amount of VN content they had to cram within a total of 6 hours of runtime. I think you might as well give it a watch since you subjected yourself to UBW. Try to keep your expectations low though.

I will be shocked to the core of my being if those movies make the whole UBW process worthwhile. We'll see.

I watched Waiting in the Summer
This was the first anime that wasn't a airing anime that I watched recently and gave it a 6/10.
I have become a seasonal tard. Watching a non-seasonal is an accomplishment.

Serious answer: Seasonals rarely got my interest this year so I focused on older titles. I'm gonna keep it short and say it's between Texhnolyze which absorbed me but sadly couldn't become one of my favourites, and Hidamari no Ki, which I didn't like but I appreciate the way it handled its elements.

The answer you want: Bible Black, I finally got to watch it, not all of it though, just the first two entries.

I'll only talk about completed animes.

1. Just Because!
2. Shirobako.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

Shinsekai Yori accomplished what I believed no anime could: turn an anime locked on for a solid 9/10 drop 4 points in score using only the last episode. It's honestly a miracle how the author managed to butcher his own anime that hard. The only anime that's come close to this level was WEP, and though it fell a lot harder, it was already showing signs of collapse from the sixth episode onwards, so Shinsekai Yori, the absolute legend, retains that status for now

1. Chimera Arc of HxH. It got really dragged long so I paused it for 8 months, but I was very satisfied when I completed it.
2. Golden Time. Same as HxH, except I hated it.
3. Endless Eight of Haruhi. I challenged myself to sit through all 8, but I skipped after watching 4 episodes.
4. Monogatari & The Tatami Galaxy. I was pretty surprised in myself how I got uses to their fast paced dialogue by the end.
5. After completing all seasons of Natsume, including OVAs (1 movie left).
6. More recently, Space Brothers. Followed an Episode per day rule and completed in 3 months. Now it's one of my favorites.

Maybe HxH, mainly because of its length, but I really enjoyed it at the end.
But when I finish Gintama, my longest record will be broken.

You deserve an hour long lecture on why dropping anime is important.

Finishing Beastars made me feel like a furry.

It all depends on how far one takes the interpretation of an accomplishment or enlightenment, correct? An accomplishment can arguably be any anime series I've watched/most anime in general. Something offering enlightenment to me implies much more stringent criteria, extremely thought-provoking or viscerally moving or, for the best on offer, some fusion of the two and consequent transfiguration into a singular experience that can't ever really be sufficiently replicated or even adequately competed with or matched likely for not only the next series, but the next five, 10, 20, 30, 50+ you watch.

I would have to say, for something on that level for me, it's Mahoutsukai no Yome, though it's incomplete. All the way back in 2019 and one of my last 9/10s. The only series I've seen since with a realistic prospect of making it into my Top 10 eventually if it ever is completed (though in the latter half or latter portions it could be ruined too, as series have been, so that's TBD).

A few series since, including Hyouka and Sonny Boy, have come somewhat close to matching my interpretation of that description, but I wouldn't equate them.

sorry if I have not written to you these days but the WiFi but it rarely worked, anyway we highly recommend Tomodachi Game, so now that you have seen Gleipnir Tomodachi Game it is there because that too is a half Death Game

I think it was when I finished watching Ef. Although I watched many different series and standalone OVAs, Ef series left so huge print in my soul that I can't forget it till now.

It is really inspiring series, I think unique among all in teaching us all that THERE IS ALWAYS EXIT IN EVERY SITUATION, THERE IS ALWAYS PEOPLE AROUND YOU WHO WILL HELP YOU IN ANY DIFFICULT SITUATION, THAY YOU MUST GO FORWARD DESPITE ALL HARDSHIPS AND NEVER GIVE UP NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS WITH YOU!!

I finished mushoku tensei, what can I say, I was enlightened by the fact that if you wanna do something you just need a big enough reason, even if you fool yourself
