Do you feel annoyed with "never give up & hardwork" shounen tropes?"

Since Dragon Ball released, almost all Shounen follows Goku's traits , and recently, Asta from Black Clover is the next heir of this tropes . It's funny how they made this tropes and many people who watch it are otakus, which mostly are depressing kind of people who abandon their life and attempts to escape reality with anime. Personally, what do you think about them?

I don't hate it particularly but yeah I agree that I don't really feel a sense of motivation seeing it.

I'm fine with it but I understand why people hate it. It went from an admirable quality to a tool for bad writers to write a story in any way they want. When done well, its awesome but now because of how every story uses it, its now seen as crap.

It is not just in shounen but you can find this trope frequently used in seinen SOLs too in those typical "gambare!"
situations (though there could be difference between how it is used in the two different genre but I haven't watched many shounen so I don't know how much). I actually like it when it is not stated, the characters are not talking about it but I know that in that spirit they are acting.

Not really. You can make it cool and even inspirational some times, but when it fucks any kind of logic just to prove that hard work is always the key, then it is bad. Or even worse, if it´s made to prove a point and then the idea is irrelevant in the most hypocrite way, because the MC was always a genius.

My favorite example of this is Naruto. Do you guys remember when Naruto said to Neji that he won because he was always being called a talentless idiot? Guess what. It was a lie. He is the most fucking gifted ninja in his entire series.

SZS makes a parody of this trope if you are tired of it

It can definitely be inspiring at times when called for but to a certain extent, gets really tedious and unnecessary,,, Usually it works better when paired with another theme point so it isn't completely overused and cliche

I love the spirit, although overusing the dialogue about "Oh, you need to work hard to be the best!" is just too tiring and irritating. I'm more into "Action speaks louder than words" theme when there should be no pretentious execution which can be better to follow up the story in "Ups & Downs" style.

Hard work isn't really and solely enough to satisfy me in realistic level. Just give me something that MC has the desire to achieve self-importance, self-awareness, and self-actualization without any other's validation to convene. Trusting others isn't excuse when you don't trust yourself. Entertain me with each character's flaws, and that's how I can receive the empathy with him/her. Whether teamwork or solo, the only way to work for is only yourself. Sounds selfish, but that's how human value works.

Priority always set within yourself, but exploring outside is the first thing to become with the world, and then, you have found the priority.

I'm usually fine with it. The problem is that many authors use it as a cheap plot device in order to justify plot armor, especially because the results achieved by the main characters "through hard work" could never be achieved by others because the main characters are somehow privileged or special; just look at naruto or black clover...

Many authors do use it so it will naturally get irritating but I dont think its right to just hate the tropes cause when done right , they still do create awesome moments
For Eg. Rock Lee's never give up was far more genuine and awesome than naruto's

I wish they added more to it, and not that just if you work hard that will get you somewhere. I forgot from where- but I remember an anime character saying that hope and drive is not enough, i want to see that from the words of an actual shounen protagonist. But honestly, most of the time im used to it, because they hold onto false hope until they reach a point where they realize that its not going to be enough. Take Luffy for example- he was very confident and thought that just saying he will be the pirate king will be enough- but later after a certain incident, he knows he will need more than just himself and that it is okay to rely on his crew mates. Thats mainly why it doesn't bother me so much. They hold onto that belief until a big rain-check comes hits them in the face, and then they start to change.

Sometimes if done badly they are bad but they can also be good like in Eyeshield 21 and Kengan Omega. Both has done Never give and and work hard trope fairly well.

I think it's a deeply japanese thing and it goes way way before/beyond battle shounen, nekketsu ect.
Yes, many times it's overused or poorly executed but entirely removing it from certain groups of titles is inpossible.

i feel like the reason im burned out from shounen is because of that specifically. its all so repetitive. every single one. they all have the same tropes with the same generic and bland characters. nothing new. just an op mc and some girl with big boobs. not to mention how the mc just continuously gets more powerful just from hardwork.

like wow! great job *insert any shounen mcs name here*, youre doing so good. just like *insert another shounen mc*!

It only annoys me when the characters don't learn anything while working hard. Which is most of the time.

No, it's a good trope as long as the MC doesn't keep shouting about his goals. Better than the trope of 'I'm a useless shut-in and I just need to die to gain ultimate power and a harem of beauties I didn't do anything to deserve'.

I will say to comment while hard work and tenacity doesn't give you everything in life it can be a huge factor in actual success so I disagree on this it's unrealistic angle.

In large it's all about usage if the solution is just give more effort to overcome all your problems yeah that is going to get draining fast. The MC has to emotionally and mentally develop as well. Solutions need to be more than just push or fight harder. The problem is when this trope is abused not the fact it exists.

absolutely this.

I'm personally more of a push through everything with sheer willpower kinda guy.
you may work as hard as you want in real life, you won't make it unless you're either lucky or have connections.

It kinda exists now as a way to just give the character some shortcut personality. it isn't too bad but it is overused.

Well I'm mostly okay with it given that they don't say it every 2.341 seconds

They have good intentions but after a while it ends up being annoying.
