What do you think of Stardust Crusaders over the later parts of Jojo?

Is it similar to the other Jojo parts? I'm watching second season of Stardust Crusaders and it is quite underwhelming considering such a high score on MAL. I really liked the the first two parts and so I don't want to judge the whole series on part 3 itself. As all other parts have stands do they have the similar setting where the protagonists fight all the goons before fighting the boss? Or is it different?

I'd say give them a shot and see for yourself. All parts after 3 have Stands, but they're used in different ways and tend to be more creative and over the top. There are many Stand users to face, but they're not necessarily goons that follow the same boss.

I prefer the earlier parts over 4 and 5, but most people tend to say they're better than the first 3. It depends on who you ask. You might like them more, the only way to know is by trying them out.

for me it would be Part 4 > Part 3 > Part 5 > Part 2 > Part 1
I really enjoyed the part 3 though part 4 is much better , my favourite part still remains to be 3 due to maybe more episodes
It has Polnareff , that's reason enough to like it

Maybe ignore the scores of the shows and focus on watching the series so that you can formulate your own opinions on whether you liked it or not?

Each part after part 3 has a different theme to it whilst retaining the idea of stands and stand users, though what makes the series enjoyable (to me at least) is how they defeat the villains, even if there are goons to deal with beforehand.

It's my least favourite so far but haven't read part 8 yet so who knows. It loves the say, don't show rule for some reason. The characters SAY they're good friends and have all these great bonding moments but we never see them. And it's soooooo padded out. Not EVERY SINGLE fight needs 2 episodes. I think it's a step down from parts 1 and 2 and then part 4 blows them all out of the water. Part 5 is fine.

Part 3 is my favorite. It has stands, but it hasn't yet lost the ridiculously proportioned character designs. It's perfect camp.

Honestly I think SC 2nd half is solid all around(darby bros, pet shop, mariah, vanilla ice, za warudo) but I do think the upcoming parts are superior overall. The characters are more enjoyable, better art style, better stand fights & better soundtrack

All of them follow that basic formula, stand-of-the-week then fight the Big Bad at the end without much else, so your mileage is gonna vary on how much you can get out of that alone. There's one part down the line that takes a slightly different approach, but it hasn't been adapted into anime yet, and probably won't be for a while. Out of all the anime-fied ones, Part 4's probably got the best variance on the format by being kind of a mystery show, but it's still a stand-of-the-week thing first and foremost.

imo part 3 and 5 are very similar, they fight the goons then the bad guy (with long, annoying, meaningless fights, srsly, these are the worst parts). Luckily part 4 is not like that (and it's my favorite), I can't talk about the other parts because i've only read the begining of part 6

Stardust Crusaders (especially the second season) is imo the best part of JoJo that has been adapted. The novelty of stand users I think wears off in later parts, and the constantly changing global setting also helps add interest.

Mine is Part 3 S2 > Part 2 > Part 5 > Part 3 S1 > Part 4 > Part 1

+I enjoyed the entire Part 3 crew (Jotaro, Kakyoin, Polnareff, Joseph, Iggy) vs Part 4 (I wasn't interested in the newer characters at all) vs Part 5 (group is rather very close to part 3's group in terms of enjoyment)
+I don't mind the stand of the week format as the way it's presented, since there's enough variety in strategies/scenarios involved while keeping it action packed from start to finish. Also fun battles with both D'Arbys, Pet Shop, Vanilla Ice etc)
+I liked its comedy better vs Parts 4 and 5
+I prefer Part 3's bulkier designs over the newer parts
+I liked the adventure of them traversing around the world to multiple countries (vs Part 4 stuck in a town vs Part 5 only within Italy and its surrounding regions)
+They have more gratifying revenge style results

Part 5 had a good chance to actually be the best part, but I didn't like how they handled the end despite having the best quality stand battles throughout much of the season and a better story than Part 3.

Part 4 vastly improved once the main antagonist goes into play (~18 episodes in)

I really enjoyed part 3 and is my favourite part mainly because of the second half with all the amazing fights but the first half I still loved pretty much the whole way through. However, if you don't like it then don't worry because every part feels very different but still has the jojo feel running throughout.

Considering anime only and stand parts only, Stardust Crusaders the weakest for me. JoJo follows this formula of "stand user of the week", which takes one or two episodes. Part 3 is, a LOOOOOOOOONG journey to reach Dio and when they do, it's not even that great. Part 3 is a worship cult to Dio, everyone is like "Dio-sama this, Dio-sama that, I'll die for him". When they beat all the stand users related to tarot cards I Thought the "Dio amazing quest" was going to start, then they came with those egyptian gods, the same stand user of the week formula. To me was kinda boring, but Iggy fight was great.

Part 4 was doing good until this formula appeared again near the end. The stand users hit by the arrow barely had a reason to fight Josuke and the others, but Kira is great and part 4 overall is great.

Part 5 was the best considering this "stand user of the week" formula, thinking about the mafia thing, it made sense in the anime context.

My final considerations about the anime parts using stands are: 4> 5 > 3.

Even though I do like Part 3 it's not my favorite if I were to rank the parts that have been animated from best to worst it would look like this.

1. Diamond is Unbreakable

2. Battle Tendency

3. Stardust Crusaders

4. Golden Wind

5. Phantom Blood

Part 3 for me is just like part 1, it's something that I thought was boring to watch (for the most parts) until I watched the later parts and I appreciated it a lot more.

While I liked the verity of locations that this part had there are really some few fights that I actually found memorable and the cast is also kinda weak compared to the later parts.

But the Dio mansion invasion (pet shop arc-the world arc) is one of the peaks of Jojo's imo.

Part 3 was the most enjoyable part for me.It's a perfect combination of everything for me.I love the villain of the week format. And the interactions between the stand users is amusing to watch. It's the part which introduced stands and has less bullshit that has no explanation than the following parts.

It's like a million times better than part 5 where everything is so over the top and unexplained I can't digest anymore.

I was really tired of part3. it was dragging on forever, I didn't like the cast, it was stand user of the week bs, jotaro is dull as hell. the stand powers are very basic.
stands are here to stay like it or not, but the stories differ quite a lot, and the characters become more complex and less good-bad as time goes.
part4 is a lighthearted slice of life set in a small town.
part5 is hot blooded mafia action, which is done in a similar way as part3, but the characters, stands, fights, gore are all better.
part6 is weird in a lot of ways, and gets crazy weird later on. it's also fight centered.
part7 is western, with a lot more emphasis on the story and characters. it's the best thing jojo has to offer, along with part2.
I havn't read part8 yet.

Personally I didn't much care for part 3 though I thought the second season was at least better than the first. Parts 2 and 4 were by far my favourite and I hold them in a much higher tier then the rest of jojo's in my opinion

Stardust crusaders is probably my first or 2nd favourite part of jojo's but the top 2 parts is definitely jojo's 2012 & stardust crusaders. Part 5 took a while for me to like it near the start because the main character wasn't even a joestar, but after finishing golden wind I definitely liked that more than part 4 diamond is unbreakable. But they are very fine lines I think all the jojo's parts are amazing, I enjoyed all of them the only difference is basically the characters for me and stardust crusaders had the best characters which is why i'd rank it #1 or #2. And first part of jojo's had joseph & speedwagon probably 2 of the best characters in the series plus I really enjoyed the comedy in part 1 which the other parts didn't have as much comedy because josephs personality was just hilarious

Each season is quite a bit different than the others, it's rather impressive that no two seasons feel exactly alike.

Stardust Crusaders had the best cast of characters, but the story takes a while to get going compared to other seasons. Most of my friends on MAL rated the first half of Stardust Crusaders as a low point in the series, as did I, as did MAL as a whole if you compare the average score. However the second half (Egypt Arc) more than recovers, and totally delivers in the end.

Every part after part 3 has stands. It is also important to note that each part is completely different (say for maybe similarities between 3 and 5). If you don't like part 3, you may have a completely different reaction to another part, especially if you liked the earlier parts. You may not like part 5 though, as it shares many elements of part 3. Mainly of which are the fighting of goons by a cast of 5 or so characters. However, part 5's fights are much better done and the characters are much more interesting.

Also the high rating of stardust crusaders second season, is entirely because of the final fight of the show which is pretty fantastic.

(Bro you gave stardust crusaders first season an 8. Doesn't seem like you found it that underwhelming)

I mean yes and no. Pt3 is basically villain of the week focused and so is Aureo Vento and Steel Ball Run (kinda), Diamond and Jojolion are mystery focused and Stone Ocean is just odd.

Stardust crusaders unfortunately has a bad tendency of falling into a formulaic "Monster of the Week" style with only nominal plot progression and somewhat inconsistent characterization (Jotaro being the big offender). Also, the stands in Stardust crusaders are definitely less refined and creative compared to the later parts. The later parts are definitely better and more interesting in my opinion.

Stardust Crusaders is an okay JoJo part for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good anime part, but compared to the other parts of JoJo, it’s not good imo. Part 4 and onwards will get better though especially Part 7, trust me.

Part 5 and 7 have a similar scheme but that's the beauty of it.

You can't beat the final villain straightaway. He needs to be built up first. Furthermore, the minions serve to build up the protagonist/s as well. At the beginning they're usually weak so it's a must for them to gain a little experience until the boss otherwise they most likely would get annihilated.

Honestly loved part 3 with the adventure feeling and the Stand of the week format. Also had the funniest crew with Joutarou, old Joseph and Polnareff.

The other parts feature Stand fights that usually span over 1-2 episodes as well, but part 4 has more of a slice of life vibe with a villain that's actually getting active before the showdown. Part 5 back to a journey again with more parties and the craziest fights.

Bottom line, they work with the same material, but I honestly liked them all more or less the same for different reasons.

Personally I think part 3 is the weakest part of JoJo after 6, the first season of it before the Egypt arc is so forgettable outside of hol horse and the hangman. Δ° think the saving grace for it is that it has one of the strongest finale with the raid on dio's mansion.

Jojo part 3 is perhaps the best when it comes to slapstick comedy. 4 has it too but not so much. After that characters get that distinct cold feeling without much expression, straight out of a fashion magazine.
Still I find part 7 as the best one but part 3 characters remain my favorites because of the mix of comedy and drama, Ala Hokuto no Ken and because jotaro is more fit to be kenshiros disciple.
