| It's a waste of potential. Would have been way more enjoyable in the form of a visual novel. I could picture several different "routes" while watching the anime. In the end, the protagonist tries to take them all in a half assed way, thus you end up unsatisfied with all of them. Of course, watching Shigatsu doesn't mean time wasted as it is entertaining for most parts, but if you have something more interesting to watch then just skip it. |

| Decided to drop it after the first episode, because it tried to establish as a theme the impact of parental abuse on the main character. But then the anime deliberately went out of its way to completely undermine that theme and have the main character's friends physically abuse him for comedy. It sends mixed signals and makes it not only an in-genuine, shallow, pretentious attempt at appearing heartfelt and deep, but almost satanic. The only way it's even watchable is if you actively repress any empathy you might have for the main character. Certainly not the type of show for any "feels", except for maybe frustration and contempt for whoever was responsible for writing it. Maybe they pull a complete 180? But I doubt it. It's a show about looking at a cute girl character design, and pretending to feel deep while you watch it because they play classical music. |
