| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I've always respected Godai as a character, but in this episode he brought a smile to my face. You have to respect a man who refuses to take advantage of others like him, or maybe he just didn't want the job. Either way, I think he made the right choice and, judging by her actions this episode, I think Kyoko does to. |

| I think it goes to show how much he's grown. I really can't imagine the Godai from the beginning of the series doing something like that. |

| There were a couple of other "really good" episodes throughout this series... This one, for me, was outstanding. Probably just because of the end, but still. Good on Godai for "being a man" as the episode's title suggested. (Though my respect for his friend didn't go anywhere. Why is Godai friends with such a loser? That guy only ever seems to put him down or hold him back.) |

| Godia's friends are like fucking leeches or someshit LOL Very glad he rejected the letter of recommendation. I wanted Godia to become the teacher ever since the two weeks student teacher job he took. I was thinking how awesome it would be for Kyoto remarry to another teacher. Plus the added bonus of not being indebted to Ibuki. |

| I don't agree with a statement that he made a right choice. His action was naive, almost childish. He should have humbly accepted what was offered to him. He was searching for job for so long, he couldn't realistically think that he has a chance to land a job anytime soon without a help. |

| Godai has grown so much and he really fits more as teacher. I really admire his character a lot for not takes advantage from other people and finding path for his future. What a lucky guy that Sakamoto lol. |

| Godai was someone I thought was very pathetic and spineless at the beginning of the series but he still had charm that I couldn't help but like. Seeing how far he has gotten and grown is really great. |
| New intro and outro, ok songs, intro is filled with pink and that's how I imagine what "rose tinted" looks like, so I like it very much :) Art changed ever so slightly, people seemed shorter than before. So Yagami chan just went back home? It was that easy? Well, her father had to give in and write that letter of recommendation. And I think Godai san made the right choise not to take the letter, he's not the office worker kinda guy anyway. |
| great episode. respect to godai for declining to take the letter of recommendation. i'm sure one of the reasons is that he doesn't wanna feel indebted to anyone for the job. and he does seem really suited for the job of pre-school teacher. i wonder if that's the path he chooses. last scene was really nice. |

| As we enter Fall 1987, we also get a new OP and ED, which also happen to be the ones that will take us to the end of the show, and I can thankfully say they were immediate hits for me, I really love both of them and I think they’re a great pair to be the last of the series, I really love that final night shot of Maison Ikkoku at the end of the ED too. And this right here was a heartwarming episode, it seemed like it would mostly be about Yagami in the first half but it turned into being about Godai in the second. That Yagami man, she was so persistent and even managed to get Godai another letter of recommendation from her dad, but I’m so glad he turned it down, yeah realistically he probably should have taken it but I really liked the message of this episode being do what you love, I think Kyoko and Godai put it very nicely, you work for life and it would really suck if you were stuck with a job you hate, so I think Godai potentially going the pre-school teacher route was the right choice, he’s walking his own path and doesn’t need others to choose for him. And hopefully, as much as I like Yagami, this means she no longer has any reason to fight against her dad and stay at Maison Ikkoku, it was cute and fun the first time but this second time was overstaying her welcome, I hope she reappears after this but yeah I’m glad this little running away from home bit is done. |
