Another nice episode, it was kind of cool to see Mitaka and Godai bonding for once. I also like the fact that Kyoko is slowly falling in love with Godai, though I don't quite think she realizes it yet. Thought for sure she'd hear them in the subway, i'm glad she didn't.

Kyoko continues to irritate me as I progress through Maison Ikkoku, for a second time.

Her reactions to Godai make it clear throughout the story what her feelings are for him. But she continues to act all girly-girl around Mitaka; not rejecting him, allowing him to grab her, and dating him whenever she feels like it. As someone else posted somewhere, she only keeps Mitaka around for his money and looks, and that says a lot about her. It might not be practical to go for someone purely because of love, but it's damn selfish to string someone along knowing she likes someone else more.

In comparison, Godai has been trying to break it off with Kozue - the girl he only started dating, ironically enough, because the 'grieving widow' felt it best to go on a date with a desirable man during her sorrow. And, of course, everything is Godai's fault for daring to date a girl when Kyoko does the same; nothing to do with her actions whatsoever.

Maison Ikkoku is a great story - truly. Even though I've already been through it once in manga form, that hasn't stopped me falling in love with it all over again after my memories faded. But, as hard as I try to be understanding, Kyoko ALWAYS rubs me up the wrong way when Mitaka's involved. Her mix of charms and flaws make her one of the more realistic characters, but I do think Takahashi ruined her character to a certain extent by making her keep Mitaka around for drama purposes, until the end.

The episode itself (43) was pretty good. Seeing Godai and Mitaka reduced to the same level by Kyoko toying with them, and bonding as a consequence, made Mitaka seem far more normal than his sparkly self usually comes across. Of course, it goes without saying that it annoyed me to see Kyoko treat the two as equals at the end - keeping her options open - but I'm used to it, as this stage. She does what she can to sell herself to the highest bidder for her affections.

I can't believe Kyoko - she acts like she's completely oblivious to this situation. Some women do act like this! this is wat makes this thing realistic.

They should go and have a threesome so that she can decide in bed if she wants to keep one or both!

I was expecting she'd hear them too, relieved she didn't, would have been yet another obstacle.
What she wrote in the snow was hilarious, "baka" xD

Haha... this sounds like my kind of logic.

Godai to Mitaka: You've played around with ten, a hundred, a thousand more girls than I have. She should be mad at you ten, a hundred, thousand-fold more!

Another good episode, still less than halfway through. So much more drama to come.

Maybe Kyoko's only stringing along Mitaka because Godai isn't exactly "available" given his current situation or maybe Kyoko doesn't have much dating experience other than Souichirou and believes it's alright to push away possible lovers whenever she feels like it... I sometimes don't get Kyoko's intentions.
Godai and Mitaka bonding and getting drunk was one of the best things to have happened in this show. These two were really holding their inner demons for Kyoko's affection. I seriously pity them, especially since Kyoko will only choose one once the series concludes.

This sums it up pretty much. I'm glad that Ichinose-san called her out, saying that she's running away. I understand that she still cannot forget her dead husband, but it slowly feels like an excuse when she keeps seeing Mitaka but getting angry at Godai for doing the same, fully aware that both guys have feelings for her.

The English DUB VAs hit it out of the park with those drunk impressions at the end. I was actually laughing lol

I usually don't watch the dubs, but the English voice acting in this show is actually really, really good. Talented VA cast.

The neighbours were rude to Kyouko, let her mourn that man how long as she wants, she was a teenager when she met him and it was her first relationship.

Yuusaku and Shun were funny together but both are idiots and Shun didn't need to force hugging Kyouko, the scene of her writing "baka" is one of the best from the show so far and with the way episode ended maybe she should have ended up with both, two sides of being an idiot.

I was surprised to see this situation go from Godai and Mitaka at each other’s throats over Kyoko, to the two of them bonding over their plights regarding Kyoko while drunk lol, I found it pretty wholesome tho, the two of them do have some understandable problems there. With Godai he can’t seem to progress things with Kyoko because it keeps resetting with Kozue around (this isn’t Kozue’s fault however), and Mitaka has all these women around him all the time but the one he truly wants is unobtainable, and then there’s Kyoko that’s still hung up on Soichiro, which can be annoying but at the same time you can’t blame her for that either.

It is funny tho, how a single woman can bring these two together when she’s not around, but the moment she’s there they hate each other again lol, I guess that’s just how it is when it comes to love, if only Kyoko would just choose them both and they could all be friends, but that’s unfortunately not realistic lol. Banger episode tho, probably one of my favorites of the series.

Hey, what's up with the weather and seasons in this anime? In the previous episode, the flowers were already blooming and everything was green, but in this episode, Kyoko is writing "Baka" on the snow and the trees are already leafless. Or maybe a whole year has already passed while Godai was in the hospital?
