This is a stunningly beautiful anime made by Makoto shinkai,that revolves around Takaki and Akari who desperately try to make a relationship work with distance being a cruel factor preventing it from working out. A few years pass by and Takaki is in high school constantly missing and thinking about Akari, unable to move on he misses out on a lovely girl named Kanae who has loved him ever since she first met him in highschool, Kanae never confesses her love after realizing that he is still hung up on someone. Years fly by and Takaki is in his mid/early 20's and after finding no satisfaction in his job decides to quit and he is still hung up on Akari and wishes to see her. After walking around for countless hours Takaki crosses a railway and suddenly realizes that he saw Akari and Akari also notices him, they both turn around to look at one another before an oncoming train blocks their view of one another. Takaki waits for the train to pass and when it does he see's that Akari did not wait for him. Takaki then realizes that it is too late for them to ever have a relationship he then smiles turns around and continues walking, thus realizing that he should now finally move on with his life.
