Konagai Tomoko is a first-year in high school and a shy girl. Tomoko owns three cats. The cheerful and live Munchkin Maa, the smart and responsible Russian Blue Rou, and the gentle crybaby Singapura Shii. Tomoko, whose only friends were her cats, one day becomes friends with Shiratori Azumi, who also loves cats. This is a fluffy and cute comedy about the daily life of Tomoko and her cats, Tomoko and Azumi's friendship, and the interaction between cats.
Among the decaying carcass of which is the anime industry, one particular show shines out from the rest. It has been commonplace to regard "LoGH", "Clannad AS", "FMAB" and the such as "masterpieces"; though those making claims as such, have clearly not experienced Nyanko Days, the paragon of anime. Rife with the most superior story, character development and artwork, I will hope to relay why Nyanko Days is the anime to surpass all anime.
The shifting focuses displayed in the anime industry as of current, strongly implies that emphasis on a truly memorable story is no longer enforced. Rather, "fan-service" filled garbage which nets in higher
revenue is a safer bet. Nyanko Days, maverick to the horde of trash that spews each season, beholds a story which will certainly go down in history as a monumental piece; a true example of what anime should aspire to be.
It isn't uncommon for newer anime fans to disregard older classics entirely, due to the dated artwork and animation. Fortunately, this is clearly of no concern for Nyanko Days. Alongside state-of-the-art technology, the artwork and animation creates such an atmosphere in which you literally experience 1st person, the joys of Yuuko as she strokes what some would regard as an ethereal embodiment of sheer happiness (otherwise known as cats).
Unbeknownst to literary experts, it is actually a scientifically proved fact that cats make the best characters of any literary work. How did Night on the Galactic Railroad establish such fame? Because its characters are all cats. And fortunately for anyone who happens to come across this pivotal work, Nyanko Days' character cast vastly consists of cats. Ma, Ro, Shi, and even Elsa; the mastermind behind Nyanko Days has clearly exhibited an aptitude to create and develop truly memorable characters superior to any other anime character in existence.
There isn't a doubt within me which opposes the objective statement, that the soundtrack; ending theme, are truly among the ranks of what Beethoven could not have achieved in his whole lifetime (regardless of whether he retained his sense of hearing or not). If you are not convinced thus, simply take a listen to the ending theme, and I will hope to see Nyanko Days at 10/10 if I ever view your MAL profile.
Overall, the perfect union of these elements create a timeless masterpiece known as Nyanko Days. I write this review in the hopes that reluctant viewers will convince themselves that they must experience Nyanko Days, even if it means the end of them. I write this review in the solitude of being one of few viewers who have been enlightened by Nyanko Days, yet unable to convey the sheer brilliance of Nyanko Days to others. No words can describe the epitome of anime, which is Nyanko Days; though I pray every night, that more anime fans can attain enlightenment through Nyanko Days.
Want some aww moments in your life? This anime is for you then. Watch Nyanko days, as it enfolds the story(if you count 2 minutes each episode as a story) of three extremely kawaii kittens and their master Tomoko.
The animation is superb and so is enjoyment(I'll rank it 100/10 if I can). The characters could have had a better backstory, but oh well, cute cats don't need much explanation, right?
There is not much to think or reflect to, just sit, watch and enjoy the cute kitties playing around and wonder why you couldn't get cats as cute as those.
After years and years of painstaking research, studio EMT² emerges with the perfect girl-to-kitten hybrids. In fact, these "nyankos" are so cute that we are not worthy to witness them for longer than two minutes at a time!
I don't know what exactly it is, but the fact this series even exists just makes me happy. Nyanko Days is nothing but a quick rush of serotonin in cute chibi nekogirl form. Main character Yuuko is a sweetheart, quite relatable to many in her wallflower personality, and her friend Azumi helps supplement the series with a nice, blossoming friendship (complete with
her own nekogirl!) Each of the kittens in Ma, Ro, Shi, and Elsa each express their own individual personalities and quirks, leading for a diverse cast of kittens to cuddle!
No, it's not a literary masterpiece, not even close, but that's not the purpose. Nobody buys a cat and expects it to recite Shakespeare or Descartes. You watch Nyanko Days to feel good. You watch it to forget your troubles. You watch it to see cute cats doing cute things.
Stress from work? School? Break-up? Just angry at the world? Nyanko Days, my friend. Your pain and discomfort will melt away as you're comforted by three (four later on) of the cutest beings ever drawn. There's something genuine in each and every expression that lets you know everything will be okay.
It's just hard to explain. If you like this kind of über-kawaii content, you're going to like Nyanko Days. Two minutes of your time for a rush of happiness? Count me in. I'll be sticking around until the end.
The only outstanding flaw of the series is how short each episode runs, being only a minute and a half when you exclude the outro. The mini-episodic format the creators elected towards greatly affects the flow of the series, and we find ourselves craving so little content each week. It will prove one of anime's greatest tragedies that Nyanko Days didn't get the proper run-time it deserved.
With all of that in mind, there is only one thing to take from this: Nyanko is love, Nyanko is life.
