Synopsis

Who needs school, who needs baseball, and who needs friends? That's the attitude of high school delinquent, Taishi Fura, who became a loner after falling out with his peers. One day, he witnesses the brutal attack of a ghoul, which left one of his former friends in the hospital and the other dead. Determined to avenge them, Fura decides to pursue the man-eating monster.

His efforts allow him to cross paths with Kishou Arima, a quiet student who also attends his high school. Arima, however, is no ordinary student. Despite his young age, he is a full-fledged investigator of the CCG, a government task force that strives to deal with the ghoul threat. Together, Fura and Arima hunt down the ghoul, known as Lantern, but it soon becomes apparent the monster may be closer than anyone suspects.

In this side story, Tokyo Ghoul: "Jack" offers a glimpse into the past of Kishou Arima, well before he ever became the CCG's feared God of Death.

So what we got here...? a 30 mins OVA about a story focusing on the high school student Kishou Arima? This should be a Masterpiece! Wrong! [NOTE: All people who rate this with "10/10" probably have a mean score of "8" or more].
The story about a loser student named Fura who skips classes so he can f*ck around with his gang. Arima is still your obscure OP character as in the anime, no wait, we now know he was a 16 years old student who dedicated his life to kill ghouls for no obvious reason other than being overpowered, wtf?! why? so many unanswered questions read more

My first non troll review, so yeah, enjoy. No spoilers in the review.

Story: 7/10 It takes place 12 years before Kaneki's run in with Rize, it follows Arima Kishou & Taishi Fura as they try to hunt down the lantern Ghoul. It's a pretty simple story, but surprisingly enjoyable, I doubt you'll be bored at any moment during the 30 minute run time, especially if you're a Tokyo Ghoul fan.

Art: 10/10 The art is the best it has ever been, the animation is absolutely amazing and the style is way more colorful than the actual show which is just amazing to look at. The fight read more

If only Tokyo Ghoul √A was this good...
This short OVA tells the back story of Arima who appears in the second season of Tokyo Ghoul, and was honestly a fascinating clip of the Tokyo Ghoul world. Although it is recommended that you watch both seasons of TG (Tokyo Ghoul) before touching this, I thought that it stood firmly as its own interesting piece, with a defined character.

To begin, I'll discuss the artwork, sound, and story as a whole. I would argue that the artwork has indeed changed slightly from the televised versions of TG, and it gave it a very different "atmosphere." For the read more

"I always wanted to be like them. I wanted to be normal."

Tokyo Ghoul : Jack, an ova I have been anticipating since it was confirmed. And now that I finally watched, I want more, a lot more.

Story (9) : The story follows Fura, who belongs in a gang but then left it. One unfortunate day, he witnesses the murder of his friend by a ghoul of the name "Lantern". Wanting revenge, he and Arima start to go around killing ghouls hoping to find Lantern with the help of, Minami. There isn't much to the story, but it was quite interesting to know a little read more
