Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars

If your in the mood for some more Sailor Moon adventures, I would highly suggest you watch this last season of the wonderful, romantic, comedy of Sailor Moon.

First of all, let me tell you, I can agree on why Sailor Moon Sailor Stars wasn't licensed for the american dub version. If you watch this series, you will find out why. But enough with that matter, let me tell you what I thought of this amazing season of Sailor Moon.

-Story-
I personally thought the story deserved higher that a 6, at that matter. The story was actually well thought out and planned detail to detail. ... Naoko Takeuchi had really improved since SuperS. I mean, how the new characters incorperated right into the story perfectly. The Starlights added a new sense of different careers in the story and how Seiya tried his/her best to be like a 'new' Mamoru for Usagi.

-Art-
The art had pretty much improved since SuperS, in my opinion. The detail and different colors use to express the characters was amazing. I really thought that the design of the new senshi outfits was absolutly genius! Also, I must say, Sailor Moon's Moon Tier was really detailed and perfetly executed the attacks every episode.

-Sound-
The sound in the series really got me into the season more and more. The new opening theme really changed the sense of the series after the same theme song season after season. Change was definetly in order. But I must admit, some of the songs the 3 Lights sang weren't very good in my opinion. I understand they were looking for their princess for a very long period of time but I never got use to the songs they sang.

-Character-
The Starlights intro into the series really up-ed my opinion on the rating of Character. Yet, in the anime, how they were changed into Male to Female really didn't make me happy. I'm sure Naoko diefinetly felt the same way. Anyways, away from that matter, I believe that most of the characters didn't change that much, yet I enjoyed how they comforted Usagi in her hard times.

-Enjoyment-
The enjoyment of the series difinetly deserved a 10/10 in my opinion. The story brought along many happy, sad, romantic, ect., to the series. I think that Naoko did an exceptional job on this season and the manga at that.

-Overall-
Overall, this series deserves a 10/10! The series was outstanding to me and was one of the first anime I watched when I was young. The series always kept me at the edge of my seat and I really enjoyed some humor here and there. If you are in the mood for an amazing series, I highly reccomend this series to any mahou shoujo anime fan out there. The series was excellent to me and I bet any Sailor Moon fan would agree.

Despite being considered by some fans and even Naoko herself as the most far-fetched from the manga plotline. This is considered one of the most loved and favorited of the seasons of SM along with the much loved classic first season.

NEW Scouts-
There's plenty of new scouts from other galaxies and others leaded by their own princess. It also features a cool idol group as some of the season's new characters.

Last season-
This season was the last season of Sailor Moon and it was never dubbed in English during it's original release. This season may be still new news to some fans who just watched ... and were familiar with the original English dub.

Break from Mini Moon-
And of course we get a break from Mini Moon. Even though she is still an important character in it's first episodes, she does get a break and doesn't appear through the second arc of this season. This could be a relief to some fans after SuperS.


Very dramatic-
Yes, this season has plenty of hardships, downfalls, and Sailor Moon will be find herself very heartbroken at times.


Villains are scouts-
Yes! I mentioned there was drama. Not only are there new scouts called the Starlights, the villains themselves are also scouts, which makes it hard to know who to trust.


This is all around a super season and is a must watch for fans. Despite the flaws that Tuxedo Mask is absent from the second arc (but it's for a reason), and the outers appear very little times. It's still it's a great season and you won't be disappointed.

Sailor Moon is the anime of my childhood.. I remember when it was being broadcast on TV, I'd have cried when I had missed even one episode. I even memorized the important episodes ^^ Even today, I would go back and watch those episodes sometimes..

And this last season was the best one (I missed Mamoru-chan but.. ^^).. We saw friendship, love, longing, and also determination and faith.. of course with the sufficient amount of humour ^^ It has everything in it, and it is an anime that I'd show my children..

Everybody should watch this classic, imo. The storyline, the characters, fight scenes.. all of them ... were 10/10 for me ^^

(Should I begin watching it again?? ^^)

This is it, time for my 500th anime review. That's right. We aren't counting the manga, game, live action, comic, book or Western animated reviews. In keeping with the usual pattern, it's time to look at the next instalment of the Sailor Moon franchise, Sailor Moon Stars. In the name of the moon, I will critique you.

Story:

We open with things on a pretty high note. Nehellenia's been defeated. Mamoru's been accepted into an American University back when that meant something and ChibiUsa is heading back home. Things go south when a strange voice rouses Nehellenia from her sealed status and she returns seeking revenge against ... Usagi. They defeat the revived Queen and both Mamoru and ChibiUsa go off their separate ways when a new enemy appears. There's just one thing different, these enemies also appear to be sailor soldiers. Meanwhile, a trio of new soldiers, the Starlights, have made their appearance. 

I can honestly say that this series of Sailor Moon is the best written. The way the two plots connect is really well handled. The foreshadowing is clever and, while clear, not shoved into your face or otherwise overdone. The tension between our regular soldiers and the Starlights actually makes a good amount of sense since, as the outer soldiers point out, the enemy is made up of sailor soldiers. Usagi's stance also makes sense. The Starlights have been fighting alongside them and deserve the benefit of a doubt. 

There's also the climax. The last stretch of episodes in this series is phenomenal. The way it builds up a very bleak mood and really tears at your gut with some of the events that transpire and then follows it up with Usagi finally confronting Galaxia, not in a battle of brute force but one of ideals, is fantastic. It could not have possibly been handled better. This series also features the best comedic elements that the franchise has ever had. There are a lot of really funny sequences. A lot of which involve the inner soldiers interacting with the Starlights while they're all in their civilian identities. Hell, the episode where they transform in front of each other for the first time is one of, if not the funniest with the way that whole sequence of events is handled. The episode where the inner soldiers are going overboard trying to guard Usagi also has some really hilarious moments. 

Characters:

Those people who view Mamoru or ChibiUsa as the best characters will probably be disappointed since they don't get much in terms of screen time. It didn't bother me because the character dynamics we get with the inner soldiers, outer soldiers and Starlights is so damn good. 

I'm gonna be honest, I like Usagi's dynamic with Seiya significantly more than her dynamic with Mamoru. And not because Seiya is a girl and I'm a crazed ho-yay fan. Here's the thing. My problem with the romance with Usagi and Mamoru has always been that it's very lazy. Why are they together? Because destiny. Will they stay together? Yes, because future daughter implies that it's destiny. And, ironically, Seiya's interactions with Usagi that are designed to establish her as a credible romantic rival for Mamoru actually create a more compelling and well developed dynamic between her and Usagi that we've ever seen with Usagi and Mamoru. 

This series also has some of the best Haruka/ Michiru moments. Pretty much every time these two show up, we get some light flirting and general adorableness. The antagonists get a good amount of personality as well. It does help that their basic back stories are pretty clear once we learn what the Starlights' story is. Even before that, it's pretty heavily implied. 

Chibi Chibi is interesting. Not because f the soldiers trying to figure out if she's Usagi or ChibiUsa's future child. It should be obvious she can't be ChibiUsa's since ChibiUsa's future partner is clearly Hotaru. No, she's interesting because she can barely speak. So her personality has to pretty much come out through non-verbal means. Which it does. And there are some compelling episodes that focus on showcasing her personality. 

Art:

The weaknesses in the art remain the same. There are some overly long transformation sequences and stock footage attacks. There are frames where someone will have a bizarre expression. And it looks a bit dated by today's standards. In spite of that, there's a definite charm to the visuals in this series. The monsters have a good look. The character designs as a whole are great. And even if they do get repeated too often, the transformation sequences and stock attacks are pretty nice. The series also does do a good job of positioning its characters in various scenes. A good example would be the enemy soldiers entering their travelling phone booth that's totally not a police box that can go through time and space. When Crow and Siren enter it together, you can see that they're close. Conversely, when Crow and Nyanko enter one together, they take very hostile positions. 

Sound:

The acting remains an excellent element of the series. Fukami Rei, Tomizawa Michie, Hisakawa Aya, Katsuki Masako, Ogata Megumi, Shinohara Emi, Kawashima Chiyoko, Minaguchi Yuko & Mitsuishi Kotono have proven themselves many times in this franchise and they continue to be fabulous. In this series Niiyama Shiho, Tsunoda Narumi & Sakamoto Chika make excellent additions to our lineup of soldiers. What sets them apart is that they have to keep their voices fairly androgynous since the Starlights take on male forms during their stay on Earth. 

Although this is the last series so you won't hear them in the roles again unless you play the yuri dating game where the player controls Princess Kakyuu and can date the Starlights in their true forms. Before you go looking for that, it's not actually real but sounds like something that could be. 

For the antagonists, the performances that really stand out are Horie Mitsuko, Inoue Kikuko & Suzuka Chiharu. All of the actresses are strong but those three do stand out. 

This series also features the best music. It's the first time we've heard a different opening theme tune and, not only is it spectacular, but it actually has a very strong, and clever, connection to the big climactic battle. Moonlight Densetsu actually does get played once in the series and it's very effectively used for impact. The Three Lights' music is really well put together and sung. 

Ho-yay:

There's quite a bit. First off, there are the scenes with Haruka and Michiru. We also get some stuff betwixt Hotaru and ChibiUsa during the opening Nehellenia arc. And there are multiple girls among the inner soldiers who don't seem to mind that much when they find out the Three Lights are really women. Plus, every single one of the Three Lights seems to be attracted to other women. There's also Aluminum Siren and Lead Crow. These two are actually reminiscent of Zoisite and Kunzite from the first series. Their dynamic makes it abundantly clear that they're more than friends. And the aforementioned dynamic is used to showcase their sympathetic sides. Although, in this series, the writing is more skilled at showing them as sympathetic even outside of their loving relationship. 

Areas of Improvement:

Princess Kakyuu could have been more of a character. I understand why she couldn't have been a character in the series proper for very long, but they could have developed her a bit by showing some flashbacks of her with the Starlights or something. As is, she's kind of an archetypical "good woman."
Less time with the stock footage. If only there was something substantial they could replace it with. Like the thing I mentioned above. 
Include the manga scene where Usagi gets a bit jealous seeing Hotaru and ChibiUsa holding hands and Hotaru tells her to just hold hands with Mamoru then. This is honestly one of the only good scenes from the manga that isn't in the anime. 

Final Thoughts:

I can truthfully say that this series is the Sailor Moon franchise at its very best. Fantastic characterisation, a well-crafted story, excellent acting and music. It's definitely the perfect way to end the series as a whole. So, in spite of the relatively minor gripes I had with it, I'm giving it a full 10/10.

Sailor Stars is in my opinion the best of all the Sailor Moon series and probably my favourite anime series ever, having watched these dvds over and over!
The first arc is a continuation of Super S bringing in the outer senshi and Chibi Moon briefly which many see as filler, but when you reach the ending and you hadn't seen Super S the first arc is necessary to understand the 'awakening of saturn' part. Once this is over you say goodbye to Chibiusa (thank god!) and start the main plot.

It introduces new Senshi in the form of a boyband in disguise to find their ... missing princess. Many people are not fans of the interchange from male to female part of the Starlights but i find it interesting and something that makes it work. It always annoys me how characters can never tell who's who when they haven't got their senshi outfits on, even though they look exactly the same! So gender swapping makes this a bit more plausible. These characters introduce humour and awesome music which is so catchy it stays in your head. If your lucky enough to have it on cd (which i do) you will be singing a long and playing it over and over! Seiya is definitely a great addition to Sailor Moon, and someone i would consider an anime crush (In male form of course...LOL) i'm a bit of a Seiya x Usagi fan too which some people will crucify me for... But the relationship building in this, along with the other Senshi to the starlights makes the filler episodes a lot better in that the story is developing even though its your standard 'Villain comes, Sailor Moon defeats it' scenario.

Stars also introduces the idea that the galaxy is just filled with Sailor Senshi which i didn't like at first as it makes our Sailor Senshi less special, but after a while you get used to it and grow to accept it. Plus you get Sailor Tin Nyanko who's a good and humerous villain, plus Sailor Galaxia is pretty badass! I don't want to comment on it too much as it ruins the fun of watching it yourself but if your considering it, just watch it! I have rated it a 10x6 and hope you like it as much as i do :)

This is the fifth season of Sailor Moon, I loved it, everything about it.

The bad. There were a few things that would make it better, such as having that first arc in this maybe come closer to the end. So instead of having that villain fresh in our minds from the last arc, they can bring her back as a trump card by Galaxia, as she was definitely more powerful than any of her other minions in this season, I still like the arc, actually it was one of my favorite arcs in the whole anime, and it probably would have been better as a ... seven episode OVA. And they treated having these corrupt Sailor Senshi as just being a small thing, having them be the monster of the day. Where as it made sense in the other seasons, it doesn't really make sense here as they would have to have come from another planet, being the Princess of all of those Planets. They also skimped on the fact that ChibiChibi was actually Sailor Cosmos, and not the sword that Sailor Cosmos gave Usagi. I also didn't like that the starlights went through sex changes every time that they transformed in the anime, in the manga they were women cross dressing as men who were in love with the princess of their home planet, it wasn't really that hard to do. If you could make Neptune and Uranus lovers then you could put this bout of homosexuality in this season.

The good. First off, spoiler warning, I will rave a lot about this season in this.This season was dark, just as dark as the manga arc it is based off of if not darker. The first arc has Usagi being hypnotized as her friends are being picked off one by one just to make her witness the death of one of her friends. When she realizes what she has to do she is forced by Nehelenia to walk through a path of thorns with nothing on her feet and having them constantly scrap across her body. This arc also develops Usagi's character as somebody who loves unconditionally, even when she hates somebody so much for doing such horrible things to her, her friends, and her family. She still shows them compassion rather than trying to kill them like most other main characters would. They give you a bit more insight into the character of Nehelenia as well, as she was alone through out her childhood on the dark moon, she never had friends and was in a state of constant depression and hate at all times for that reason. It wasn't until somebody showed the compassion needed to make her happy again, that she got to go back and relive her childhood as the ruler of the dark moon. Then you have the development of Galaxia, where as it was drastically different than the manga, I still loved it more than what they did in the other arcs. And the final episode of the anime was amazing, it was the ending that all other seasons lacked. But, I loved the manga's ending just as much. The fact is, that in one the senshi all survive and in the other they all die and go to paradise. Another thing the handle exceptionally well is death in Sailor Stars. For a bit of time, the Senshi did die, twice in this season actually, but the second time was much worse. Instead of Usagi not being able to do anything about it, she is forced to witness the deaths of all 5 other inner senshi and hear the dying words of her best friend, telling her to carry on. And Usagi being taken past her breaking point after this, just to be taken further in the next scene by finding out that Momoru is dead and Galaxia killed him, really shows just how far Galaxia is willing to go as a villain. And like the first season, they took time to develop the minor villains, unlike the manga. Needless to say, this was a much more adult season.

Final verdict:
This season is worth watching every other season for, even season four. So watch it.

Since Super S was so disappointing to me (Because they mainly focused on Chibiusa, Helios and Mamoru and the episodes were pretty boring in that season aswell) i was scared that Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars would also be just or even more disappointing but OMG I LOVED THIS SEASON SO MUCH!! IT WAS SO AMAZING! there are so many reasons why this season is my favourite season in Sailor Moon or maybe even in all of anime! (btw im not counting the first 6 episodes becuz they didn't have much to do with the season honestly)

Story: 9
the story was really fun and entertaining! it ... was fun to watch the fillers because they can make you smile and laugh unlike super s. I don't want to spoil the fun of watching each episode and focusing on the story so i wont say the story since it would be basically spoiling everything in this amazing season

Art/Animation: 8
They were pretty much the same as the previous seasons, so it isn't very special

Sound/Music: 9
Omg i was waiting for them to change the opening song and I'm so glad they did! why? Because the old one was starting to get pretty boring since it is the only song they used in basically the 4 seasons. The opening song was so catchy and awesome! but it only has a 9 because the sound in the anime was once again basically pretty much the same as the previous seasons.

Character: 10
This is probably my favourite thing about this season. Mamoru was barely in this season because he needed to go to America for college or something like that (I REALLY HATE MAMORU, MY WORST CHARACTER IN ANIME!) and also Chibiusa went back to where she came from (i have a love/hate relationship with Chibiusa) but every other character made me laugh so much because well they had so much more character development and all 4 of them (But Usagi) where inlove with the 3 lights (EVEN AMI/SAILOR MERCURY) oh and I haven't talked about the 3 lights haven't i? Seiya is just so amazing in every way and so much better than Mamoru would ever be. Yaten is cool but can be kind of an asshole sometimes. Taiki is the same as Yaten. (I'm not going to say any spoilers about them because that would suck major)

Enjoyment: 10
I had so much fun watching this season. It was amazing and I haven't laughed so much like that either :)

It would be a 10 but art and sound put it down a little bit. BUT I HAD AN AMAZING TIME WATCHING THIS SEASON. BEST SEASON EVER!!!

I watched every season of Sailor Moon over a 2 month period earlier this year. I had previously been exposed to the first season (about 4 years ago), but dropped it when I grew tired of the repetitive format. Since then, I have watched quite a good deal of anime and it felt like the right time to give this series another shake. As it drew to a close, I felt compelled to comment on the final season of this pivotal show and hopefully give some info for future viewers. In this review, I will only focus on the Sailor Stars season and try ... to avoid too much discussion of the previous portions, however comparisons to earlier seasons will be necessary as this season serves as a pseudo reboot.

Story:
The story of Sailor Stars is very strong, but a little convoluted at times. Main characters from previous seasons are entirely absent for much of this season, a factor which heavily influences the story and narrative surrounding the main character, Usagi. Episodes flow nicely from one to the next, and the focus on telling a long story is very clear compared to previous seasons. In a sentai show like this filler episodes are expected; but this season really works hard to not waste your time with any episode, filling nearly each with some plot developments.

Art:
The art and animation is good (especially compared to prior seasons), but nothing to write home about. It's still pretty basic, even compared to it's contemporaries. Character design is cute as always and the girls look very expressive.

Sound:
The OP may be the greatest OP of all time. The soundtrack is otherwise great, even the weird Star Light's songs. If you enjoy jazzy background music and rock-esque battle songs then it's a slam dunk. The last episode has a callback in the ED, that will be sure to moisten even the driest of eyes.

Character:
Interactions between the girls and the new Star Lights are the highlight of the show. The characters experience a great deal of growth and there are some of the best senshi-focused episodes that this series has seen.

Enjoyment:
I loved it. It made me laugh and cry multiple times and the ending has me reeling even months after watching it.

Overall:
This is definitely the best entry in the whole series, and provides a fitting ending to a great show.

And now we are finally onto the last season of Sailor Moon.

Story - The first six episodes of this season is a filler arc that wraps up plot threads from the last season. The Senshi all go to high school, Chibiusa is ready to go to the future, but Nehelenia is freed from her mirror and sends shards of it to Earth. One of them lands in Mamoru's eye and over the days he's badly affected by it. The filler arc ends with Nehelenia being redeemed and given a second chance at her life. The real story starts from ... episode 7. Mamoru goes to America for his university but shortly after he boards the flight he's killed by the new villain, Galaxia. Meanwhile an idol group called the Three Lights, consisting of Seiya, Yaten, and Taiki, transfers to Juban High School. At the same time, a new group of villains appear and so do a new group of Senshi called the Sailor Starlights. The story is decent and a good way to wrap up this anime. 7/10

Art - Sailor Moon's art is always beautiful so this automatically gets a 10/10

Sound - They changed the opening for this one. While I missed Moonlight Densetsu, I really liked the new opening. The sound is also good. 8/10

Characters - Three new characters are introduced. Seiya who's Sailor Star Fighter, Yaten who's Sailor Star Healer, and Taiki who's Sailor Star Maker. I did not like these characters. They were okay when they didn't know the identities of the Senshi. But once they found out they could be unnecessarily mean, even going so far as to BLAME USAGI FOR SEIYA GETTING INJURED. They get some character development and then in the next episode, they're back to being their mean selves. They don't fully change until the last few episodes. As for Seiya and Usagi's romance, I'm not a fan of that either. No matter how many times Usagi told Seiya she wasn't interested, they kept pursuing her. Even leading up to that "Am I not good enough" scene.
The Outers return in this season. And I have to rant about how dirty they were done. Saturn and Pluto didn't get enough spotlight, as for Uranus and Neptune, need I mention their "plan" to betray Satrun and Pluto and pretend to work for Galaxia only to turn on her?
As for the villains, Galaxia was a terrifying villain. She could kill the Senshi with such ease and she won't hesitate in killing her minions if they fail her too many times. Also her uncorrupted form is just beautiful.
The Sailor Animamates were fun to watch. 6/10

Enjoyment - Despite its flaws I gotta say I enjoyed this season. There was the whole atmosphere of it being the last season of this anime. And the final episodes were so intense. 7/10

Overall - It was a pretty good way to end this classic anime. 6/10

Though weaker than the first three seasons, this was significantly better than SuperS, and a fine close to the series as a whole.

The main weakness was that mid-section, while decent, was not particularly good. It had the same problem as the majority of SuperS, in that much too many episodes in that stretch could be summed up as "slice of life for 10-15 minutes, then monster battle", which I didn't really like. Though only a few of those episodes were bad, as the show's humor remained a strong point and was enough to at least partially salvage many of those.

However, the season started and ended ... on strong notes. The Queen Nehellenia arc was great from start to finish, being intense and exciting throughout, with the cool animation expected from the show's more dramatic episodes. As well, the final Sailor Galaxia arc, the culmination of the series as a whole, was excellent. Sailor Galaxia was a great villain, and with the stakes higher than ever the show delivered excellently, with several episodes of ranking very high in terms of my favorites, especially the finale.


The other positives of the past seasons remained. The humor, as mentioned, remained a strong point, the show stayed great at delivering emotional moments when need be, the action scenes were usually exciting if formulaic, and the overall direction and animation were excellent, especially in the aformentioned climactic episodes.

Overall, though flawed, a solid conclusion to my favorite anime series i've seen yet, and one any fan should be happy with.

The last season of an iconic classic. While not my favorite season of the show, Sailor Stars manages to be a tight and satisfying conclusion to the long, LONG running anime that is Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. While not flawless, and overall not as good as the S arc, I really can't imagine this show ending in any other way (ok, well if Rei and Usagi got together then there is one other ending I could imagine..). The drama, like S, is engaging and meaningful. There's a lot of dark moments, and generally the atmosphere feels different from every other season of the show. Some ... of the most disparaging episodes come from this season, like the Nehelenia arc and the entire finale.
The new focus here is the titular Sailor Stars. I've seen distaste for them as fans say it takes away from the development of the inner senshi, but personally I thought that both had great moments this season. Obviously Saiya gets more screen time compared to the other two Stars, but they're all great. Galaxia is a pretty interesting villain, not my favorite but I do have to give her a lot of credit for what I'll mention later. I do think the biggest issue with character writing this season is Mamoru. This has been an issue since R basically, but Mamoru literally doesn't appear for like, 90% of the episodes here, even if it is for a plot relevant reason.
Ultimately the final "fight" is perfect. It's a beautiful display of the core theme of 90's Sailor Moon, which is that fighting solves nothing, and conflict can only truly be solved through love, compassion, and understanding. And while it does sound corny, it really is quite beautiful.
I adore this entire series. Even with low points like R. Sailor Moon is a very special anime to so many people for a good reason, and I hope it continues to keep spreading it's wonderful characters and messages for another 30 years. Flaws and all, it's a series that always manages to put a smile on my face, and has helped me through rough patches in life. It's a bit disappointing knowing no more of the original series is here for me to watch, but it's good that things came to a positive conclusion in the end.

Sailor Moon (1992-1997)

I decided to take a look at this classic, given how iconic it is, being one of the benchmarks in the world, and what can I say?
Sailor Moon adds the tropes of your typical shoujo series, with a somewhat silly, smiling, lovesick protagonist, good with everyone because yes but despite, with the passing of the episodes you grow fond of her, like her friends Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna and Hotaru
Sailor Moon is a phenomenon among Mahou-Shoujo and popular culture in general, having a wide cast of characters with rich personalities and making reference to some social issues, having ... representation of minorities such as the LGBTQ+ community.
Something that remains for this program is that it simmers, since it was broadcast almost simultaneously with the manga, taking advantage of this to give the characters more depth. His monster of the week formula can get tiresome.
Most of the general villains of each season can be bad because yes, despite this, they are given more relevance, having episodes of protagonism, as well as episodes dedicated to irrelevant characters where they add little or nothing to the story and do not they reappear in later episodes.

I didn't have a fav season but of all I would say the most exasperating in SM SuperS, 80% of the season is made up of slice of lice moe starring chibiusa, with some good episodes here and there.
Some characters with good potential are wasted, such is the case with Mamoru, who has little participation in SM Sailor Stars and other characters that you never hear from again. About the Starlights, I don't have much to say, they tried to put a love triangle between Usagi and Seiya although for the rest, this group didn't transmit much to me.

Despite the flaws and padding, YES there is a development between the characters, the most notable in the protagonist who is more mature and courageous with the passage of the program.
I would not see the Crystals version, given that its animation seems disastrous to me and the fact that everything happens very soon, does not give that feeling of rest between events, something that the 90s adaptation did in filler episodes.

I would recommend it if you are very patient, have a lot of free time or like vintage animation, predictable and pastel situations, everyday situations of life and comedy, and of course repetitive sequences, (I love transformations)

RESEÑA Sailor Moon (1992-1997)

Decidí hecharle un vistazo a éste clásico, dado a lo icónico que es, siendo uno de los referentes del mundillo, y qué puedo decir?
Sailor Moon añade los tropos de tu típica serie shoujo, con una protagonista algo tonta, risueña, enamoradiza, buena con todo el mundo porque sí pero a pesar de, con el paso de los episodios vas cogiendole cariño, al igual que sus amigas Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna y Hotaru
Sailor Moon es un fenómeno entre las Mahou-Shoujo y la cultura popular en géneral, teniendo un amplio elenco de personajes con ricas personalidades y haciendo referencia a algunos temas sociales, habiendo representación a minorias como la comunidad LGBTQ+
Algo que le resta a este programa es que se cuece a fuego lento, dada a que se emitia casi de forma simultánea con el manga, aprovechando ésto para darle más profundidad a los personajes. Su fórmula de monstruo de la semana, puede llegar a cansar.
La mayoría de villanos generales de cada temporada, pueden ser malos porque sí, pese a ésto, se les da mas relevancia, teniendo episodios de protagonismo, así como también se les dedica episodios a personajes irrelevantes donde poco o nada añaden a la historia y no vuelven a aparecer en episodios posteriores.

No tuve una temporada fav pero de todas, diría que la mas desesperante en SM SuperS, el 80% de la temporada se compone de slice of lice moe protagonizado por chibiusa, con algunos buenos episodios aquí y allá.
Algunos personajes con buen potencial son desperdiciados, tal es el caso con Mamoru, que poca participación tiene en SM Sailor Stars y otros personajes que jamás vuelves a saber de ellos. De las Starlights, no tengo mucho que decir, intentaron meter un triángulo amoroso entre Usagi y Seiya aunque por las demás, este grupo no me transmitió mucho.

A pesar de los defectos y el relleno, SÍ que hay un desarrollo entre los personajes, la mas notable en la protagonista que es mas madura y valiente con el paso del programa.
No vería la versión Crystals, dada a que su animación, me parece nefasta y el hecho de que todo ocurra muy pronto, no da esa sensación de descanso entre eventos, algo que sí hizo la adaptación de los 90s en episodios de relleno.

Lo recomendaria si eres muy paciente, tienes mucho tiempo libre o te gusta la animación vintage, situaciones predecibles y pastelosas, las situaciones cotidianas de la vida y la comedia, y por supuesto las secuencias repetitivas, (amo las tranformaciones)

Moon Prism Power, Make-Up!!!

There are two redeeming qualities to this season: Usagi and the ending.
Usagi, as always, is an awesome main character. Her kindness and empathy always brings the show a lot of joy and endearment. The ending is devastating and huge, and at the same time uplifting like the season 1 finale.

The reason I don’t like Sailor Stars is because it abandons any sort of character development for the Inner Senshi to focus on the Sailor Starlights. The girls really took the backburner in comparison to the starlights.

The show didn’t give me any reason to care about the starlights. They ... simply showed up and became protagonists. Compare this to the introduction of the Outer Senshi, which was a slower burn, slowly giving the audience a reason to be invested in the dynamic characters and their stories. The starlights simply can’t hold up on their own because they’re not fleshed out. They’re too similar. They also come off as entitled and rude.

Galaxia is an awesome and terrifying villain. Her minions, though, are not scary at all and are just sort of annoying.

A side note, if you are a Tuxedo Mask fan like myself, get ready for the most debilitating watching experience. If you were already miffed by the way the other seasons tossed aside the manga’s deuteragonist, buckle up and get ready.
