Koi☆Sento

I think the story was pretty ok but it kinda went much to fast. They also started in the middle of nowhere so you don't undertsand that much at first too.

The art was not realy my type, too much 3D like and the faces were kinda weird.

The sound was not special. The songs were kinda lame.

They didnt say anything about the Characters. This was one of the things that made it really bad. Since it only was an ova, they couldnt have talked about the characters anyway.

But still, i did actually enjoy it. (a bit)

This is a quick fix if you want to see a small romance story. But it's fairly accomplished.

Story:
What you'd expect from a 25 minute story. There's barely any time to create a setting.
You see a boy on a school trip, and that's your lead male. You see a girl of questionable origins and that's your lead female. And of course, a way (no matter how randomly made) for them to meet.

Art:
It's probably the most unusual thing about this show. Every single thing (except for some backgrounds and details) is animated with 3D models. Every character (which is kind of cheating the animation process IMO).
This results ... in some strange facial expressions (mouth especially). And a few weird movements, but only for those with seriously honed observation skills.

Sound:
The sound was perfectly fit. As for soundtrack. It's just there.

Character:
Nothing special. It's a boy meets girl while girl meets world thing. Frequent anime viewers won't see anything new.

Enjoyment:
It felt better than when described by my words above. If you like romance and don't need much of a reason to see one happen, you won't feel these 25 mins were for naught.

Overall:
I rate it 7 for the quick fix of romance I occasionally need. Now I can get back to the serious stuff.

"Koisento" is a very simple love story where an boy who is trying to find love, comes across a pretty girl in a peculiar way.
By jumping over a skyscraper on a mountain goat-like deer.


Story:
A cute love story with a few complications along the way.

Art:
The art is very unique and well done for the most part. I'm not a fan of it though.
Some of the expressions and animations are kind of awkward.
... The atmosphere of the animation makes this show feel like a children's production. I can see that working for a show like this, except for the panties joke at the beginning.
But I personally don't like the atmosphere of a production that feels like it has held itself back just to be kid friendly, it feels strange and uncomfortable.

The shot of the "Ocean" at the end is quite beautiful.

Sound:
I was surprised, the BGM was quite good for what it is for, and fit the scenes where need be.
The Opening and Ending pieces almost feel tacked on, because of their shorter than 1:00 length.
It is good overall.

Character:
As for the length of this production, there's not much room for character building, although Shnichi does not need very much character introduction.
It would have been nice to know more about what Toto had to go through being a [Spoiler]------------- Robot/Android.
You don't know very much about the white deer either, which would have been nice.

Enjoyment:
I enjoyed it to an extent.
But the children's production feeling was very odd to me, and I did not like that very much.


Comments:

This is my debut for watching a Shuhei Morita production, and he has potential in directing, but I truly believe the show would have had more charm if it were animated traditionally, rather than the 3D that I did not expect (The poster is a liar).
Even though 25 minutes is a short time for character development, you can a do a surprising amount of detail in 20 minutes than most people may think.
Such as the expertly made "Ojii-san no Lamp" or an episode of "Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood" or "Eve no Jikan", it all depends on the inspiration and how much work they put in it.

Overall:
This would not be a production I would watch again, mainly for the uncomfortable "children's show" feel to it.
It is unique, but nothing special.
But not too much of a waste due to short length, I did not feel like I wanted to turn it off pre-maturely.

This reminds me of going to giant Buddhist temples when I was travelling Sri Lanka and took those memories and added robots, cute girls and thugs. Super cool!

I probably enjoyed this more than most would as I've long been interested in science fiction looks at religion. So this light sci-fi OAV short with a reincarnated temple priestess and giant Buddha (daibutsu) robots scratched a rare itch for me.

There's nothing particularly deep here, it's just an innocent and pleasant romance with pretty cool art and animation. It's really the depiction of future Buddhism (which looks a lot like current Buddhism, which makes sense given that it ... has been around for a long time) that makes me love it. If that seems neat to you, you probably enjoy, otherwise there's other stuff that might be better worth your time.

Ok so this is a really short short shorty OVA that only has 1 episode running for about 24 min. The story is not too deep and is really just a quick episode of finding love. I personally believe that this OVA could have turned out well if it was a full length anime but hell, I don't put these things together. The story itself from what I can tell is fairly good for this short of an appearance. I was pretty entertained and it was straight to the point. Even had some action in it too. This OVA ... was nice short and sweet and if you want to watch it, go ahead, please do so, you will get some enjoyment out of this.

Before watching this movie not too long ago, I had seen it pop up a couple of times while searching for movies to watch on a particular site with the English Dub only available. So last week (yeah I'm late deal with it), I decided to watch this 25 minute short film because I had nothing better to do and hadn't watched an anime film for a long while.

Yeah I thought the 25 minutes for this type of film was rather short and rushed. Although considering the animation's contrast was wayyyyy too bright in certain parts and each characters faces were rather stretchy,its understandable ... that some viewers might be relieved that its finally over at 25 minutes. I'm not speaking for everyone as we all have different tastes in different anime btw.

Yeah I personally think 3D should've been outta the picture for this film and instead make it full 2D. Too little too late Im afraid to say...

Anyways the main good part of this anime film is that the English Dub actors were honestly great! John Gremillion playing the main villain character was the best. It's too bad it didn't deep dive much on the character and why she turned out to be evil.

It's just a shame that this anime film went to waste, if the Dub actors weren't involved, I would give it a 2 or 3 but instead, I'm giving it a 6...

Overall Impression: A short (25 minutes, give or take) full CGI film about a boy meeting and falling in love with an escaped android, whose handlers will do anything to get her back. The CGI is not as bad as you'd think, but there isn't much here that's worth going out of your way for. This could have been more compelling as a full series, but there isn't much time to get to know or care about the characters with so much content crammed into the length of one episode of TV anime.

+ Positives: The CGI here actually looks pretty decent at times. There are ... some parts where it doesn't of course, but it benefits from how the entire thing is in CGI instead of poorly-integrated CGI elements clashing with a traditional hand-drawn 2D aesthetic. The facial expressions are more emotive than I typically expect from CGI as well. Some of the action, in particular the mech showdown in the Buddhist temple (there is A LOT going on in this short film), would have been impractical for a project of this scope without CGI, and some of it even looks pretty good. The pacing is brisk (almost TOO brisk, arguably) and it gives you enough of a resolution to be called a complete story, so it rarely gets boring.

- Negatives: Threadbare love story between Shinichi and Toto that feels like it skips several steps to get to its conclusion in the allotted time. Almost like a speedrun of a Makoto Shinkai film in its heavy-handed use of romcom cliches and implied supernatural tragedy, even though it came out several years before most of his best-known works. CGI character models look odd when viewed in profile instead of straight-on. Muddled setting that allegedly takes place several centuries in the future, but is just modern Japan with robots and holograms for all intents and purposes. Overly tidy and optimistic ending that robs some tragic scenes of their impact. Very rushed overall, there's enough here that it could have been made into a full series of Shinichi and Toto going on adventures while evading Toto's handlers, but most of the promising elements for the future get cut off by the need to wrap it up in 25 minutes.

What an unusual anime this is.

It's a bit bizarre and I'm not Japanese so I'm not entirely educated on the significance of the deer and the abnormally large presence of Buddha statues. (I understand their importance in overall culture, but not the artistic meaning of their appearance in the anime.)

I thought the villains weren't that interesting and a bit strange. I did watch this dubbed, so it's entirely possible is the voices that did this for me.

I think it's too fast paced though that's entirely because of the short length of the anime.

The animation is decent. I think it can look jarring at ... times, but it's fine throughout. There are some beautiful shots through the anime, mostly when they are riding the deer.

Also, what was up with that freak deer?

Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was, and it's not that long so it's not like you're wasting that much time experiencing this anime.

It has a very interesting story. The romance part is so sweet and the comedy part is nice, too. The animation is very unique and original. The characters are beautifully made and the landscape is so colorful and breathtaking. The deer is the cutest of them all with his cute yet irritating laugh. It really is unfortunate that it is so short. It could’ve been an amazing movie. Though I am so amaze that even with a very short time, it is magnificently made. Almost all of the important quality of a good movie is here.
