Rising Impact

Young boy has a simple life goal of throwing a ball the farthest as possibly can, by convenience of destiny he end up meeting with a professional golfer, who notices a special potential in the young boy. The golfer then tells him that by golfing he may be able to fulfill his life goals. We then start his journey of learning how to golf, meeting several other golfers, golf therms, tactics, strategies, etc; Watching the boy progress and learn new abilities to fulfill his objectives.

This is a light heart show, most of the mood and humor being dictated by the naive way the boy views ... the world and tries to complete his life goals, always with strong heart and determinate, not only to progress, but also help others in the way, even the ill intended ones. It's one of those who "warms the heart" but without being too much sentimental or dramatized, is more simple and direct than complex, what makes sense being from the point of view of a young boy's dreams.

The side characters also not lacking in any aspect, each one fighting their own separate demons to hit their life goals, some of then just lacking a bit more backstory to link some pieces together, but other then that, each one sums very well with the main protagonist, teaching and learning alongside him, and adding new perspectives to the way they view and play golf.

Its a simple show that looks very promising and interesting into knowing what will happen next on his adventures

I started this anime without much conviction, thinking that, like many sports anime, it would be a flat series simply using a new sport (in this case, Golf) as the main theme to try to innovate. However, I was quickly surprised to find myself enjoying the viewing experience and eagerly awaiting the next episodes!

Rising Impact is an anime adapted from the manga of the same name, published from 1998 to 2002 and written by Suzuki Nakaba, who is also the author behind Nanatsu no Taizai! It follows Gawain, a young boy who enjoys practicing a sport where the goal is to hit a ball as ... far as possible. He initially played Baseball, thinking it was the most suitable sport, before accidentally meeting Kiria Nishino, a professional golfer who introduces him to Golf and sees immense potential in the young boy. Subsequently, we follow Gawain's adventures as he discovers step by step that this sport is not as simple as he thought, since it’s not just about hitting the ball as far as possible!

The beginning of the anime scared me a bit, seeing a young boy who, on his first shot, hits a ball almost like a pro and then improves extremely quickly. I feared it would fall into exaggeration, with him outclassing all other characters without any logic behind it. However, the anime manages to make the golf matches interesting, incorporating the weather, the terrain, the type of golf club to use in various situations, and highlighting each character's skills in their playing style. We discover that each match we watch, each character has their own style of play, techniques, and ways of playing unique to them, even for secondary characters!

It's great that the matches are interesting, but what about the story and its characters? One thing I find unfortunate is that the characters are not well-developed. We don't really know their past, their history, why they become good, "bad," adopt their style of play, and this creates a gap because we can't get attached to the characters. We don't know anything about them; it’s like watching empty shells since we don't know why they play or what they are trying to accomplish, even if their interactions and playing styles can somewhat make up for this lack.

As for the story, I feel it lacks a clear objective. Gawain's initial goal is to hit the ball as far as possible, although things have changed a bit since he started enjoying the sport. But what exactly is he aiming for? To be the best golfer? Okay, but that's very vague. What competition should he aim for to achieve that? What must he do to reach that competition? Who are the best players he must defeat to reach that rank?
The story lacks a long-term thread, something that would make us say, "Okay, that's the goal, that's what the story is trying to achieve" when we see Gawain winning, improving, discovering new techniques. We would see it as a step closer to that goal. But right now, we have almost nothing; it feels like Gawain is being carried by the wind and goes in the direction that comes to him at the moment.

I don't think everyone will get hooked on this anime; there is too much vagueness in the story and its goals, not enough attachment to the characters (due to the lack of depth in their backstories), and more generally, the Golf theme will not appeal to everyone.

I don't have to say much other than that this show is "JUST A WORSE REPAINT ON ANY CLASSIC SHONEN SHOW". If you wanna watch old shows with exact same story points, similar animation and even at times exact same dialogues, then you can go ahead and watch the show. The only thing I liked was a bit of info I got with the 8 bit animation about different types of clubs.

Animation :- It was okay nothing crazy like other better sports anime llike haikyuu, slam dunk, kuroko no basket etc. but not as low quality as the other recent golf anime oi! tonbo.

Story :- ... Now lets talk about the actual big problem... So, it is just any better shonen anime painted with golf but even that could have been better if it was written better. It just has actual same story I mean if I took scenes from this show and put them in any other show they would fit even there, the show has no real character. The story beats are same but it doesn't make any sense in this particular situation.

Also, the dialogues are delivered at points like the world is gonna end but there is nothing at stake... Just casually giving ominous dialogues alongwith the generic spooky music... Just feels cheap.

Characters :- The thing is that the original manga is actually writtern by the mangaka who wrote Seven Deadly Sins, so the humor is same as that. For example, a school boy and a lady getting shipped again and again but the thing is that in the previous show it atleast had that Meliodas being wayy older than he looked but here the MC is an actual school kid and that too wayy to obnoxious.


SPOILERS :-

Now, let me summarize the first three episodes - MC lives in a village in mountains where the "FMC" who is pro golf player and comes to do golf. MC gets interested by golf and somehow hits a shot as long as pro players due to living in mountains and cutting up trees for fuel at an age when he is I guess not even in junior high. Decides to go to city to live with the pro golf lady whom he just met for a day. Then the obligatory bully story line starts where two bullies bully a zenitsu. He saves him by beating them at golf. Then he gets defeated by their club captain in putting and learns that golf is more than shooting far.

And the last thing, I just don't like things where you have to diss some established characters to make the new one to look better. For example, in this a pro golf player gets taught by a literal child how to practice running to not get muscle cramps.... I MEAN WHAAAAAAAA.... yea I'm out. Even in the third episode she gets dumbed down a lot, I'm pretty sure she is not a pro man.
