Synopsis

Though he grew up as an orphan, Nio Chirinu finds a place to belong: being a waiter at his adoptive grandmother's restaurant. But this peace does not last long; Nio and his sister Iroha are used as bait to arrest child abductors by Toshizou Hijikata and Souji Okita—two members of an infamous ronin group called Miburo. After the ordeal, Toshizou proposes that Nio join the ranks of Miburo and protect the people of Kyoto.

Frustrated by his own weakness, Nio trains to match the swordsmanship of his new comrades. Even so, he struggles to be accepted by Tarou Tanaka and Hajime Saitou, the other Miburo members of his age. Determined to befriend them, Nio must discover his own sense of justice and become strong enough to prevail against all his enemies.

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (6/24 eps)
For all the reasons the anime gets a bad rep are what also makes it enjoyable to watch. There are quite a lot of monologues and self declarations by the MC that come off cheesy and cliché but that’s also what makes him so endearing.

You have our MC who is setting out for the first time and is tired and confused by all the violence and fear around him. He gets recruited to be a member of the local Shinsengumi faction and from there hopes to create a not so distant future where children are able to grow up free from oppression. It’s your typical ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (10/24 eps)
I'll be honest: At first, I thought Ao no Miburo would contain some great fights in samurai period, something that i really enjoy watching at times. However, I got a bit disappointed. Why? Because this show is literally 90% monologues or conversations and 10% fighting. Or to say it more correctly, it starts with fight and I'm like "Ohhh that's cool! What'll happrn next?" . And then...blah blah blah for the biggest part of the episode.

Why? Just...WHY? And when I decide to skip it because I'm bored...BOOM! A fight out of nowhere! And I'm like:"Well, I'll give it one more chance". Honestly, I don't ...

Absolute trash. There are like 3-4 fight scenes across 6 episodes and they're all underwhelming in every way possible. It's absolutely unacceptable to have a SAMURAI anime tagged as ACTION with barely any fighting scenes, and the few fights we have are on par with blue lock's animation. Also constant talk no jutsu, at least in naruto there was a balance between talking and fighting.

The story itself is a bit stale, there's barely any progression. The emotional monologues by the MC are so out of place and unprompted most of the time that I can't help but cringe. This anime tries to be sentimental but ...
