And hey, manga and light novel readers already know this. They knew the first half would be plain and heavy on the dialogue. But they also know the payoff is coming. So, if you're feeling a bit restless, maybe binge-watch the whole season once all 24 episodes when it's out. Or just hang tight and enjoy the journey.

this whole anime can be cut down by a full season and it would be a 9+ score on mal, so much pointless useless yapping its insane

yappity yap yap yap keep yapping do not stop yapping, takes like 5 minutes to explain about holy knights that we can already gauge how their structure is by a dead skeleton like who the hell cares absolutely number 1 world yapping anime, takes one full episodes and a half to prepare ... for a fight like come on bruuuuuuuuuuuuh

2hrs of set up for 5mins of payoff.

But ThiS Is ExACtlY WHaT hAppEns iN the LN!! Don’t care. Might work there, but not here. The ONLY reason this season is rated high is because there’s so many people who have read the LN and “already know it’s going to be good”. How good the LN is doesn’t justify the poor quality of its’ adaptation. Feels like a long winded advertisement to go read instead of watch.

If you want to watch a 2hr business slideshow, by all means, this is the season for you. You’re also welcome to watch paint dry or grass grow. There are ... more creative ways to do world building in animation than straight dialogue. I don’t care if there’s “nO FiGHtinG” — there’s literally nothing happening. There’s no dramatic tension. There’s nothing driving the plot forward. There’s no emotional investment. There’s no momentum. It’s just talking. Do we get to see the things they’re talking about? No. And we forget everything by the time that information becomes relevant. This season is the embodiment of lazy writing, and that’s too bad because I really wanted to like this season.
