Ookami to Koushinryou II

I just need to preface this review with the fact that I have an intense love in my heart for analytical, deep thinking and outside of the box "anything". I had such, such high hopes for this show. I mean, I poured through the reviews, and I was so freaking PUMPED. I was that kid who was obsessed with games on building, trading...empires...history... By the end of the 2nd season I was just F***** PISSED. The first season was sheer dent of will...this was a crucibal.

I really had to sit back an question the tastes of people and their anime, and really could not ... wrap my head around all these stellar 9/10 reviews. There were so many glaring problems with this show, I just... can't. I do not mind slow. I can even suffer through boring. Monologues, sure why not? But this show really made me want to "reclaim my time". I cannot stand wishy-washy bi-polar a** characters and the femme fatale here just makes you want to punch a baby in the face. Yeah... I freaking said it. This show had so much hope and promise, but these sadistic a**hats (writers) have created something that was "breathtaking" and not in a good way...

Even if this was written with the "times" in mind in regards to humor and how things were laid out, I found myself wanting to rip my hair out from the lack of effing cohesion! You picked up some neat trading tidbits, but even half of that ish wasn't believable... furs become exponentially more expensive because they smell like f****** apples, and it could be used as a "tactic"... give me a f****** break...She is supposed to be the wise wolf yet she acts like a petulant child 90% of the time with 0 emotional control... he has fallen in love with a maniacal and abusive tyrant with a jacked up sense of justice ... *mega eye roll*... I was not going to leave a review because I was so disgusted, but after a few weeks, I just could not let this crap stand without throwing some spaghetti at the wall and hoping it sticks....

The only reason this show is not rated a 1 is that I totally respect the effort it took to tie this many threads of history together for educational purposes.

Of Spice and Wolf season 2 is a disappointment in almost every sense of the word. It is slightly worse in every aspect than the first season, and the first season wasn’t even that good.

The art quality, directing, storytelling, plot, and character development are all slightly worse than the first season.

The drawings are less precise and lack detail when compared to the first season, which is surprising considering shows tend to get more money from season to season when they’re popular (Dragon Ball Super excluded lol). Same with the directing. There are 0 of what I’d like to call ‘inspiring shots’. Nothing really ... stands out. The shot composition is simply not quite there, even when solely compared to the first season.

As far as plot goes, there is no plot. If you thought nothing happened in the first season, brace yourself because there’s even less plot in the second season. The entirety of the second season feels like pointless filler.

And when there’s such little plot, it’s hard to squeeze in character development, which the series isn’t great at, to begin with.

The first season of Spice and Wolf leaves you with a substantial thirst for more plot and character development, and those are the two things the second season doesn’t do. Like I said at the beginning, it is a pure disappointment. I guess we just wait for season 3.

The first season was awesome, so I went into the sequel with high expectations, but was horribly let down. I'm a sucker for information-dense anime, so I didn't mind the use of economics in either season, but the fact that Holo was being sold off twice in this season just rubbed me the wrong way.

The ending was simply lacklustre and the romance was possibly the blandest thing I've ever seen. Lawrence was so pathetic and clueless at times, I questioned myself as to why I'm continuing the season. The only saving grace for the anime would probably be how nice the sounds of nature ... were, for example, sounds of rain along with the music. Loved how engaging that was and how it saved the scenes from becoming an absolute snooze-fest.

I LOVE Holo's character so much and this season did NOT make her shine in the way it did in the first season. Lots of shows suffer from a terrible sequel, and it's unfortunate that it had to be this one.

The first season was good. Not a masterpiece but well balanced.
I was so hyped to watch the second and man ... spoilers ahead.

I really don't know why would anyone call this anime "romantic". (yes we're talking about the anime not the LN here). In the anime there is no real romantic development.
In the second season the characters are out of their skin ... they're nothing like the ones in the first season. The MC turned into a boot licking simp, the Wolf entity turned into a toxic , whiny little "girl".
I know it's hard to perfectly write a character especially when its a female entity ... with a twisted mind, but cmon ... it's not because i can't feel sorry for them anymore but because their actions are irrational especially compared to their old self.
I completed the anime just to allow myself to think it over and form my opinion on the whole thing not just a few episodes but it was a waste of time. I'm soo sad because the first season was great, not amazing, but well made.

The animation is still great tho. Music: not so memorable. The political line is still good.
If you are looking for a good romantic anime just do yourself a favor an avoid this one.

If you just want to continue watching the interactions between Laurence and Holo, watch this season. But be warned: it's bad.

The first episode starts boring, and it's not a good start to what is said to be the weaker season of the original anime adaptation.

The first arc is okay but an episode or two can be cut. On the other hand, the second arc ends abruptly. We don't know what happens to Eve, and we don't know what happens to the town, which suddenly finds itself in a revolution. Our pair just left it unceremoniously. In other words, it needs an episode or two ... to properly conclude the arc.

Whilst the first season is worth watching to understand why Spice and Wolf is a good anime, not to mention so we can meet the anime-original Chloe, the second season is a mess. Also, the original adaptation omitted a volume of the light novels.

Perhaps, instead of watching the second season, one can proceed to the new Spice and Wolf adaptation, which I hope will adapt the source material better and that episodes covering the same events in the original adaptation's second season be better executed.

This is the only anime I've ever seen that I have gone out of my way to write a written review for. (No spoilers)
Not worth your time, the ending hardly gives any satisfaction.

The main reason I do not recommend this is that the character development in this anime is awful for the two main characters, which is the entire focus of the show. The ending was a MASSIVE punch in the gut with how abrupt it is with not nearly enough of a resolution for the two main characters.
My other huge problem with the show is that it is hardly a romance at all. It's ... just straight up not a romance, the only ounce of romance in the season is Lawrence getting jealous over another guy that Holo was with for a short time. Holo gives hardly any attraction back and it feels like a wet fart of a relationship compared to the (rare) animes that do romance very well.
