With so much anime being released this autumn season we were bound to have at least 2 good new shows. I seriously thought they were going to be Akudama drive and the Taisou Zamurai(ouch). A lot of people liked the look of this show from the start and it's one of the best rated anime of this season, lets see what I thought about it.

STORY: 8/10

A pretty funny story about a guy who gets hit by a truck and manages to get himself a wife in the span of 5 minutes. I would describe the show as a pretty ... wholesome and feel-good ride about a married couple living together, while not really knowing too much about each other. It kinda has a supernatural spin to it which wasn't really needed and can just be ignored to be honest. Tonikaku Kawaii's base idea is a very interesting one and it manages to bring a lot of laughs. The only problems i have is the studio slapping a fucking "ad episode" where all the characters sit down and play Street figther(Tm) (really now, i understand its a pretty small studio but come on) and the show's sometimes sits on a few things for too long which makes the viewing experience a little bit worse.

ART: 6/10

Yeah, the art really isn't the strong point of this anime, it may be because of the low budget and the (i think) artistic choice to have the characters look more "old school". Either way, at the start of this anime it actually looks great but it's once again a problem related to stamina because by the last episode the animation is just bad. It's a slow decline, but one that is very noticeable. I trust that all these problems will be resolved when the next season appears but for now it get a 6.

SOUND: 7/10

Firstly, the OP of this show is an absolute banger, i listened to it every time a new episode came out and that's pretty rare for me, it really fits the style of the show and is a good song overall. The OP was kinda forgettable and the songs that play during the show really didn't leave that much of an impression on me. Something i enjoyed however is the sound effects that have this "old anime" feel to them, personally i think this was a good choice, if intentional.

CHARACTER: 7/10

The 2 main characters are very cute and offer a lot to the show. I feel like they perfectly fit with the show and I really liked every moment with them on screen, i never thought any of them went to the extreme with their characteristics and feel just right. However, the other characters, ohhhh the other characters. The wife has a sister who is the most annoying girl ever and every minute with her on screen is just pain. The husband also has a friend who is not quite as annoying as the sister, bu still pretty fucking stupid. There are other characters that i really don't care about, but what's important is that the MC's carry Tonikaku Kawaii on their back and that's not such a bad thing in an romance anime.

ENJOYMENT: 8/10

One of the shows i looked forward for every week. It isn't really an eye-catching story but it does manage to keep your attention by making you wonder what these 2 married people are up to next. It is a pretty funny and especially romantic story that manages to keep your attention just enough time to impress you.

ENDING STATEMENT: I ended up enjoying Tonikaku Kawaii, it isn't a masterpiece but it a very good show that deserves a watch, especially if you like romance anime. I would watch a season 2.

OVERALL: 7/10 (closer to an 8)

A Romance with likable characters this is a feel-good show. With a little light comedy to support the major romance tones this is definitely a comfort show. Knowing that the manga has over a hundred chapters more story and is still growing I'm left wondering if this show will have a satisfactory conclusion on the anime side. However, if you are looking for a cute romance with little to no drama than this will hit the spot. The art style is standard and unremarkable. The most refreshing part for me how they approach the relationship which explores the relationship in an ... unusual way.

The rom-com story about life after marriage is really fun, even though it is not targeted at me but the important thing is funny, this anime is no ... less competitive with other anime that aired this season and other anime about life after marriage. This anime really makes me very jealous and I want to get married soon. Tonikaku Kawaii

The graphics and visuals are very smooth and nice, very very good. The art is not what I like but the art fits perfectly with this anime because if the art is not like this, the skill level will decrease. The sound is very clear, but if I want it to be clearer like using 4D voice, if it's like that it's definitely more exciting. The characters are only Nasa-Kun and Tsukasa-chan, which is unique if the others are usually everywhere and I really want to have a wife like Tsukasa-chan. And I really enjoyed this anime, I hope the OVA is very good but I don't expect there will be a season 2, because I can't imagine what it will be like.

For those who don't have a partner, watch anime carefully, the damage is so big. Tonikaku Kawaiiiiiiiii

The best way to describe this anime is but anything wholesome and multiply it by cuteness. This is exactly what this anime is.

The large difference between this and other romance animes is that there is no "chasing" in terms of the mc and the love interest, rather the goal is reached in the first episode. The entire premise is them living together and learning about one another. A light-hearted and wholesome anime that is perfect for those who need a break from most troupes within the romance genre.

I have read ahead in the manga and I would also highly recommend it. The same art style ... and a lot more references in terms of both anime and pop culture.

Tonikaku Kawaii is undoubtedly an anime that fell very well in the middle of all these novels full of meaningless drama, providing us with a romance where the couple is already "pre-made", generating only cute things about the wedding and such.
Nothing in the proposal is extremely new, in fact, but even so it ends up giving you a feeling of "Wow, this romance between these 2 has something different", as stated earlier, this lack of drama makes the romance flow in a much more natural way than than in anime like Rent a girlfriend or Nisekoi.
As for the characters, there is not much I can ... say, because I only really managed to like 3 of the 7 "main" ones, these being Tsukasa, Nasa and Kaname (best girl), but about Tsukasa's sister and the 2 I didn't feel very firm in the characters as in Kaname's sister.
The animation and the direction, although simple, perform their role very well, generating a more calm and palpable environment to try to make the situations as real and cute as possible ... but as for "realism" I have to talk about the elephant in the middle of the living room. The anime tries to force all the time the idea that Tsukasa is not human or is not from Earth or is Princess Kaguya and that idea, in my view, is horrible, like a lot, because I know that in a few seasons (if they are going to have others) the ending will have a boring revelation or something, spoiling all the realism of the work.

Finally, Tonikawa: Over the Moon For You is indeed a romance that is worth seeing, because of the constant loving moments that can help you deal with your daily dose of cuteness.

Grade: 7.5 (rounded to 8)....later on, I chaged my mind, I only thought that this anime was good, because I missed love cause the quarentine.....this show is a 4.

First, one thing I want to make clear is that if you don't like simple romance with no drama, then don’t watch this

Tonikaku Kawaii is a masterpiece, and for a romance fan I believe it hits all the right buttons.
The problem that usual romance anime have is that they usually focus on the "chase" part, and the whole hook is "Will they won't they [get together]". As a result, we get a 1 cour anime with an ending that hopefully has them holding hands, and usually they're not even getting together. ("Go read the manga" ending)

Luckily for Tonikaku Kawaii, we're getting a married couple from ... the get go.

There isn't much of a story per se, but the anime focuses on the development of the relationship of our two main characters, with some comedy and minimal drama. It's small dose of wholesomeness and happiness every week.

We're mostly hoping to see more cute moments between them, and seeing how they slowly but surely get to know each other better.

I think that in the sound department they've also done pretty nicely. I love Akari Kito's voice (voicing Tsukasa), and the OST in general, as well as the OP and the ED are quite nice.

Overall, if you're a romance fan and/or looking for some wholesome romcom, ToniKawa is definitely for you.

Okay, this is by far the cutest romcom anime I've ever watched. The two main characters complement each other so well. Tsukasa helps to culture her dense husband and makes sure her love is known via words or her cooking. Said dense husband supports and gives only honesty to his wife. People may think he's slightly perverted, but honestly, it gives more realism to this show. Nasa is caring, thoughtful, and kind to not just to his wife, but to everyone around him.

However, he isn't perfect. He's a hormonal human, like the rest of us. He thinks his wife smells good, and squeals at ... how cute she is. But, is that the only reason why he loves her? No. He explains why he does in later episodes, and you can see he genuinely loves her through his actions, whether he's making sure she's okay/comfortable, or just wanting to hold her hand.

He gets frisky sometimes, but come on. They're married. They're attracted to each other. This is just a given, and is in no way something that should turn someone off from an overall amazing love story. Honestly, give this anime a chance. Especially if they make a season 2, you will only see how they grow to love each other more. No manga spoilers, of course.

Story: 9

There is definitely a supernatural aspect to this show. We have yet to know the whole backstory of Tsukasa, but it's been hinted at multiple times that she's probably more than what she gives off. The hint of mystery, however, doesn't taint the romantic comedy of the show, which is the main focus. The story of newlyweds who are just getting to know each other and their quirks. It's so refreshing to just relax and see two awkward people grow to love each other more. The comedy made me chuckle a few times as well.

Art: 7

So. Frickin. Cute. The chibi art style is to die for. All the characters are so adorable, and the anime adaptation did good with transforming the art style of the manga into moveable, lovable characters. Cute, simple art style for a cute, simple anime. Very fitting. Not the best of course, but it's just a stupid cute romcom. No need for overly zealous art.

Sound: 6

It's decent. The tracks aren't catchy to me, personally. But at least it doesn't hurt my ears.

Seriously, if you're lonely and want to watch a cute couple act adorable, this is THE anime for you. Go in looking for a laid back romcom to squeal and sigh about, and you get exactly that.

I don't often give anime's a 9/10 nor write a review for them, but I enjoyed this anime so much that I wanted other people to know that they should watch it.

Although the beginning of the story was a bit unorthodox, it still managed to make me enjoy it. I enjoyed seeing the character development.

I have not that much to say about the art style except that it fits the show perfectly. It's not bad and it's not so amazing that it's worth watching just for the art style, but it still was good.

I would definitely recommend this show, especially in these difficult and lonely ... times.
This is the first anime where i enjoyed every episode, and furthermore it not only was fun but it also made me happy.

EN - What to say about this anime, it may not have the best animation but it is by far the cutest and most wholesome anime of all time, without winding, with enjoyable characters and the best couple, it heats the heart weekly without fail. A masterpiece of romantic comedy. Nasa is a great character, methodical and easy to fall in love with, intelligent but at the same time innocent and cute.
Tsukasa is a great girl who shows strength to help her husband through any problem although she knows her limits and also has her problems.

PTBR - O que dizer desse anime, pode não ter ... a melhor animação mas é de longe o anime mais fofo e wholesome de todos os tempo, sem enrolação, com personagens divertidos e o melhor casal, esquenta o coração semanalmente sem falta. Obra prima da comédia romântica. Nasa é um ótimo personagem, metódico e fácil de se apaixonar, inteligente mas ao mesmo tempo inocente e fofo. Tsukasa é uma ótima garota que demonstra força para ajudar seu marido a passar por qualquer problema embora saiba seus limites e que também tem seus problemas.

It's a nice rom-com but to be honest, I didn't really enjoy the main guy early on. I understand how he feels, but I thought he was kinda annoying early on so that might be a turn off for some people. But by episode 4, I finally said, yeah I think he's a pretty cool guy that I like.

If you want to see who I believe will be this year best waifu, then for sure you should watch this anime. I mainly kept watching this anime because of the main girl, who is a awesome character.

The art style is good, I enjoy it, ... but it's not like amazing that it will blow you away, but it works for what the show portrays. It has a nice character design and it's easy to watch.

I feel like the story might be predictable? But even so, it's good enough to make you want to continue on to the next episode. It's more character driven then plot, which I'm fine with.

Give it a shot if you just want to see a cute sweet anime that feels wholesome. It's just one of those anime that will make you feel good watching. And if you just want a waifu for this season, I think she so far is best of this season.

Romance usually just ends with the first kiss. The journey’s the thing that’s most exciting, so anything after the couple confirms their love for each other is boring, right? But Kenjiro Hata said ‘Fuck it. Let’s see where married life gets us.’ And so he made this; godspeed, you referential madman.

Story:

Yusaki Nasa was unfortunately born with the name of Nasa, as in the American space program Nasa. And due to him being made fun of for his name, he has sworn himself to studying in order to be in a way, better and separate to that space program. But on one night, he sees a ... beautiful girl on the other side of the road, a very cute girl that he ends up wanting to reach out and meet because she’s just so darn cute. Not realizing that there was a semi to his right that came right up and hit him. As a result of his absent-mindedness, he gets hit, but not before the beautiful girl he saw saves his life. Not knowing if he’d ever get the chance to see her again, he musters up the courage and confesses. And she replies saying that she’d agree to go out with him…if he marries her. And two years later, he does.

So, wife RTA speedrun aside, what really is Tonikawa based on this absurd premise? Well, considering this comes from the same person that wrote “Hayate the Combat Butler”, a surprising amount, actually. While the series is heavily centered around the newlywed lives of Nasa and his bride, Tsukasa, the series also does a number of not so subtle tangents that add a lot of spice to this already sugar-filled series. Similar to how Hayate is written, absurdity and overzealous moments are commonplace in Tonikawa, though drastically toned down to give a more slice of life feel to the story. Despite that, seemingly random plotlines/4th wall breaking moments remain commonplace throughout the story’s run, which makes it all the more hilarious given at any given moment you could just be watching the couple doing an arbitrary chore, and the next moment you’re subjected to a complete history of fighting games or a reference to a certain billion dollar mobile game that also has its roots within the moon. It kind of keeps you on your toes, and while personally I wasn’t much of a fan of this in Hayate, here it gives the series a lot more to offer than just the couple either being or attempting to be cute.

Which in regards to the show’s romance angle, is honestly kind of a mixed bag for me. While the anime does selectively choose the more story-driven chapters to make up its twelve episode run, the content that’s shown between the couple’s marriage heavily wavers on a spectrum between genuinely good character moments that show a couple that feels like they’ve gotten used to each other, and a pair of highschoolers that don’t know if the other one likes them or not. Which, given their ages, isn’t too far off from the truth. Half the time they don’t feel like a married couple. Given the story’s premise, it’s only natural that this is the case given how at the snap of a finger they’re now a married couple, but there’s still an unusually high amount of blush and nervousness between characters that at the same time, can feel genuinely natural and can click in a way that makes them seem like they really have a strong bond. The dissonance makes some scenes feel longer than others, which adds a far more awkward air to the series especially due to the fact that these kinds of scenes eat up runtime and can last for minutes at a time.

As a result, the story of Tonikawa succeeds in some aspects, but falters in others. When it clicks, it’s a genuinely interesting story that depicts a rose-tinted idea of what marriage can be whilst adding a dash of absurdity to it. But when it doesn’t, it feels awkward and like it’s a completely different series because it does that anime thing where the characters are too scared to even take the slightest foot forward towards making any significant attempt at intimacy. Which can last minutes at a time and can make the show feel much slower than it actually is.

Characters:

Nasa serves as one of the series’s best points, and one of its most lacking. His character is genuinely unique, being a home genius that’s both smart and knows exactly what he wants, which just in general, aggressive natures are a rare trait in and of itself. His wife is of course his most favorite thing in the world, and it’s clear as day that he treasures her and the fact that she’s a part of his life. Unfortunately, he comes off as a little superficial with how he actually acts towards his wife, which adds to the dissonance I discussed earlier. Despite that, again, when he and her really have a moment of good chemistry, the show succeeds more than it falters. It’s just a bit of a shame that just shouting that she’s ‘cute’ is a good chunk of his feelings towards her, which gets a little tiring the longer the series goes on since it’s just the same compliment over and over again. And it eats up a surprising amount of runtime; ‘kawaii’ is like a majority of the dude’s vocabulary.

Tsukasa in contrast is a lot more interesting, though with the same kinds of positives and negatives as her husband. Getting to know Tsubasa through Nasa’s perspective feels rewarding because we get to know more about this mysterious girl over time, which is really what helps sell the ‘married life’/relationship aspect of the series in spades. Getting to know all of the little idiosyncrasies of her character is what helps breathe life into the series, and gives us a surprising amount of character moments and humorous character interactions that gives the show its good parts. Unfortunately, the nagging part of her character is the secret and mystery of Tsukasa, which shows up every now and then because the parallels between her and the story of Kaguya-hime are both mentioned and shown many times over the course of the show. This mystery never gets resolved (and still isn’t in the manga), and it’s a bit annoying considering it’s both talked about and hinted at a lot, but never really touched upon other than a light tease to remind the audience that there’s more to the series than meets the eye.

To make up for these shortcomings, the side cast of Tonikawa is a really bubbly and eccentric bunch as expected of the author of Hayate no Gotoku. While there aren’t any talking white tigers, the friends and family of the small Yusaki family each gives their own brand of trouble or hilarity to the show’s runtime, providing some enjoyable moments that change up the content from just being about Nasa and Tsukasa. My favorite among the bunch being Kaname given her series presence and treatment of Nasa because she thinks it’s funny. They all provide something, and in a small cast like this, that can only be a good thing.

Aesthetics:

Seven Arcs is a pretty average company if you ask me, and combining that with Kenjiro Hata’s style creates a pretty middle of the road looking show. The show looks surprisingly flat with very little actually standing out from episode to episode. The characters are simple but even then kind of break model a little bit, which makes them look slightly awkward, though not that noticeable a change unless you really look for it.

That being said, the simple art gives way to a whole host of possibilities with the comedy, from still action frames with action lines to entertaining character faces because the person they’re talking to also has extensive knowledge somehow on something that’s completely arbitrary, and that’s the only way to depict it. Also they reference a lot of stuff. And I mean…a lot of stuff. And that’s all drawn in. I knew that if this series ever got an adaptation that we wouldn’t be seeing top quality stuff, but personally I expected at least a little more consistency and or more saturated shading and colors given how light everything was.

As for tracks, Yunomi’s “Koi no Uta” is a mix of traditional and electric pop that works well somehow. Given the show’s roots in Princess Kaguya as a part of Tsukasa’s mystery, the song makes for a unique song that fits in with the show’s space themed nature. All made better when the beat picks up and the the song actually does the drop that it has. All around a surprisingly memorable track that stands out due to how unique it is. KanoaRana’s “Tsuki to Hoshizora” however is the kind of song you’d expect from a romcom. Personally I don’t find it all that exciting since it sounds like it belongs in a romcom anyway, so there’re no surprises there. Not a bad song, but definitely doesn’t hold a candle to the OP and how unique it is.

Final Thoughts:

Well, chalk this one up again as a series I never thought would actually get an adaptation, but I guess this is the timeline we live in. As an avid reader of the manga, this adaptation was substantially more different than I expected. I guess that’s to be expected when your chapters are normally less than twenty pages each, but I digress. It honestly feels like some scenes went on far longer than they needed to, and that’s probably because in order to fill up runtime, those scenes ended up taking priority.

It’s a shame if thats the case, mostly on the fact that while the manga lets stuff like that go over quick, the length and time of seeing Nasa compliment Tsukasa again starts to add up over time, and it being animated means you have to sit on that kind of stuff longer than you would if you read it. A given, but definitely something worth mentioning. As a result, it kind of washes out the moments where the two really look like they love each other and bicker as a couple over dumb little things. Those parts I think is where the real insulin is needed, because it really showcases the ideal that the show strives to showcase, which feels all the better when the characters talk to each other and there’s no blushing or annoying back and forth on the same topic. And in a way feel like people rather than caricatures for a rose-tinted idea.

All of that being said, the references are absolutely more than I could’ve hoped for. They’re there in the original manga too, but the visual aspect of seeing the joke told out hits differently to reading it on paper. I almost prefer it this way because seeing Tsukasa actively freak out over the movies that she loves so much is way better than just reading it on the page. So while I do have some gripes with some of the storytelling, I would say that Tonikawa is still worth some time invested into it, even if there’re parts that kind of hold it back a little. It’s just nice to have an actual married couple in an anime instead of a ‘will they won’t they scenario’. See? It can work out. You just have to not end the show on the first kiss like everyone else does. The amount of untapped ground here in this subgenre about the couple already being together really is unreal.

If you like Slice of life, you are gonna love this anime.
If you want some light hearted content, you will love it.
If you want to just enjoy some anime, you will love this anime.

As you watch it, you'll want to watch more of this anime. You'll feel like "Damn I want more episodes of this anime." I want a season 2 of this anime, season 2 will be successful if they release it. Anyway What I want to state that if you will not be satisfied with 13 episodes (12 episodes + 1 episode of ova). Classic Slice of Life.

I was waiting for a cute rom-com to satisfy my rom-com addiction, and not only did this satiate my hunger but sent me spiraling down the squee abyss left never to leave it again.

Overall, this show isn't much like the other shows out right now that keep leaving every episode off on a frustrating cliff hanger, or filling every episode with dead space or filler content, and for that reason, this was my favorite show out of them all this season.

If you're going to watch this show, remember what it's about, for me who was searching for a room com that didn't involve forty-eight ... episodes of two tsundere saying they hate each other till at the end we get one moment of them looking each other in their eyes (unprotected), this show delivered. Sure it wasn't realistic on how relationships work but that's not what I go to anime for, I go for cute lighthearted fun stories where I can fill my heart with happiness for twenty minutes each weak. At least for this particular genre.

All in all, if you're a slut for rom coms and tired of tsundere, and enjoy a good laugh while your heart gets set ablaze, this is probably the show for you.

This anime is such a treat. When I first discovered it, I thought of it as just a feel good rom com. However, it was much more than that. The plot sees just a simple married couple living a very simple life. The funny thing is, is that they get married in the first episode right when they meet. I've seen so many complex anime with really unique writing and themes, but this one doesn't do any of that. In fact, there isn't really anything special about this anime or the characters at all. Most of the characters are not unique, in fact they are ... pretty generic. I think the charm comes from the simplicity of this anime. It allowed me to take a step back from analyzing great writing and just enjoy myself. That is the whole point of this show, and that message is clearly present. Unlike other feel good animes, this anime has a charm and is special compared to other shows. It truly shows that you need to appreciate the simple things in life. This anime is unique in its own way, and I simply adored it.

Just the wholesomeness I needed to warm up my poor little exam season heart in this wonky-ass pandemic.
If you feel yourself slipping into seasonal depression this is the anime for you!It will restore your faith in humanity, water your crops and clear your skin.
This couple makes going grocery shopping look like a date.
It's good to see two seemingly emotionally stable, level-headed protagonists taking care of eachother, all while being just the right amount of awkward.

If you like romance anime, I would hundred percent recommend you this anime. This is probably one of the most enjoyable story compared to the other anime. "Tonikaku Kawaii" is a very simple story, the mains characters met and get married in a single episode.
In each episode they have a different goal so each episode are very interesting and some are kind of emotional that makes you feel "woow" "omg" by their action and courage.

What I like from this anime is the way the characters are thinking, they are very simple mind and funny, which make some scene hilarious. Especially the main character who's always ... thinking with effectiveness, that makes this anime even better!

From now I've watched 6 episodes and I would definitely give it a least a 9 or 10, it is really a good anime that makes you happy and fun and relaxing to watch. If you want me to say what anime are similar to that. I would say "Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!" and "Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san" in the way how hilarious the story could be but they are just not as good as "tonikaku kawaii". In that anime, the relationship play a big role, since they get married in the first episode and it's really entertaining for people who likes romance anime.

One of the best Rom-Com anime you could ever watch. I have watched scores of rom-com but this one is special, In what way it is special?

Tonikaku Kawaii make you fall in love in this anime more and more. It's like sweet medicine doze that cannot be skipped or delayed.
One of the things I love most is their music themes, Opening theme by yunomi and Ending theme are both amazing.

People find that this anime is predictable, jokes are not funny, characters are ... useless, and much more. I will not argue their thoughts because it's just waste of time, I believe that first 5 episodes were 10 of 10 but as we go further in series we got to see some plot holes that made me uncomfortable with the series but now this series is flew off with 2020, I can say it's more than worth to give it your time.

I absolutely loved this anime. The story is great. It got me into different happy moments. It has a high rewatch value. The characters are really fun and of course the opening and ending theme are really great !!!

You might think its a bit cliche if you have already watched tons of animes with same genre. But it is genuine at some point depends on how you are going to feel it while watching.

I love the character growth and the way the story ... get's more interesting per episode. Tsukasa is really cute and of course a waifu material. You'll never get bored watching this
