My Review:
I swear, someone is cutting onions... (;-;)

Story:
This movie talks about the world of NGNL but 6,000 years ago.
The story's build up is good where at start it's the [Introduction] of the world 6,000 years ago then the [Character's Introduction and Personality], which then leads to the story where it consists of at least 3 [Climax or Peaks of the Story] to be exact that may lead to NCO (Ninjas Cutting Onions).
As for the [Ending], it was a perfect close-up for a movie but for those who don't understand NGNL's real meaning it would seem that they felt like they wasted their time ... as different people have different preference.
To me, for people that want to know what NGNL really means then you need to experience one disaster in life where you felt hopeless then you will find the similarities in it.

Just watch the movie as it is one of the best quality in animation movie. (=D)

I have no words to properly explain and how to say this... comprehend? Yes, that's it exactly, "comprehend" one of the most awesome and artistically splendid animated movies I have ever seen.

I haven't wrote a review in a long time, but once the end credits started rolling and the ending song began, my hands started to move on their on, burning these passionate emotions onto my keyboard that's bereft of its color.

No Game No Life Zero shows what happened during the Eternal War of the Gods and how Imanity came to be. Also, how Tet became the One True God.

All that I can say is ... that this, THIS EXACTLY, is the kind of show that moves me, I've longed for movies/series like this one for the longest time yet.

This truly is a masterpiece, a roller coaster of ******* emotions, and simply and truly a sight to behold. I recommend No Game No Life Zero to everyone that loves anime that moves the heart, tears it apart, and lets it grow once more.

My verdict: 10/10

If you watch no game no life zero with high expectations of it being a parallel to the original anime series with its intellectual outsmarting and "you thought you were winning but nope I had the upper hand all along" kind of plot (or even with its fanservice/ecchi elements), you will be greatly disappointed. That's because ngnl zero is a completely different story from the one we were all familiar with, the lighthearted, playful story with one of the brightest most colourful palette in anime history. Instead, its frankly quite the opposite, and I absolutely enjoyed it.

Ngnl zero sheds a different light onto this ... fantasy world of disboard, and delves into the sacrifices and hardship some had to go through to achieve the current "utopia" that Sora and Shiro live in. The movie has a distinctly different feel and vibe to it despite the same art style and very similar looking characters with the same voices. And contrary to the series, it takes itself very seriously and will touch your heart in one way or another, and perhaps you will shed a tear or two, which I did in my case.

Plotwise, however, the movie may have suffered due to a rush pacing or a not so smooth adaptation from the original light novel (disclaimer: I have not read any of the novels). There were many parts where I wished they spent more time going into the details of it rather than just rushing through, spamming the audience with complicated names and numbers introduced as quickly as they disappeared. This movie does not have the most logical, unique or mindblowing plot and will not satisfy you the way the series did with its clever tactics and counterattacking measures. The uneven pacing left me with a confused expression plastered on my face as what little explanation(mostly done through exposition) that the movie threw to me I wasn't able to grasp completely, and that deeply irritated me because it felt like I was shortchanging myself on the movie experience. But upon completion of the movie, it struck me that it didn't matter if certain details were unclear or left out, because that wasn't the point of the show. And it did happen 6000 years ago so really, the details of execution of plans shouldn't be the crux of the story, but rather the heart and emotions behind it. And to me that was done really well.

Now on to why YOU MUST WATCH THE MOVIE. The visuals...they were so beautiful, although literally blinding at some times, unfortunately. But Madhouse really did a fantastic job with the crazy amount of details they put into every single background and the smooth fluid animation in the fight sequences. It was a feast for the eyes and I was happy to see that they toned down on the colour spasm and made it into something more subtle but still incredibly breathtaking. The music and sounds were also phenomenal with many dramatic silences that led up to emotional pitfalls for the audience ;_; (if you know what I'm taking about). I watched this movie in the cinemas and it was worth every cent with the huge screen and blasting music it was great.

Ngnl zero isn't a masterpiece movie that will change your life or anything. It's far from that really. But it can't be taken as a stand alone. It is a prequel and a side story of sorts to supplement the main story and I think it has done an incredible job at fulfilling its aim :)

No game no life: zero is the prequel film to the pretty amazing series of the same name. Although no game no life is in the title, this is incredibly different from the series.

STORY 8/10
The story takes place thousands of years before the show; before Tet became ruler and made things fun. This world is engulfed in a giant war that kills many people. It follows Rikku, a general ad his new robot girlfriend. The story heavily relies on the 2 main characters' relationship growing, which is really emotional, well-done and touching. When the movie wanted me to care for either of them, oh lord ... I did! There is a war aspect to this movie, though. Most times, the situation that the humans are in reminds me of your average dystopian future story like hunger games or divergent. Not only were aspects of this movie generic-feeling, but also really dark from a tonal perspective. The first 2 thirds of this movie focuses on the relationship, and the humans hiding from war. These thirds of the movie were really slow and dare I say - boring at times. The story picks up very well in the last act, when things get exciting! The climax is when the real action, feels and intensity strikes better than a lot of other things.

CHARACTERS 9/10
The characters in this movie are really unique. Most of them have the same voice and similar design to a character from the original series. Every main character from the movie is a counterpart to a main character from the original. That is really good, and seeing their similarities and differences from the original characters I also though to be creative. As said before, the bulk of the movie is seeing the 2 characters' relationship grow, which besides the action, was no doubt the best part. Although the 2 main characters are the only ones with real focus on them, they were developed perfectly! There are some characters that I wish had more screen time, one of them was recurring from the original series.

ART 10/10
Beautiful! This movie is a joy to look at from beginning to end. Although this movie lacks the bright colors and atmosphere of the show, this still manages to be really well-made in an animation and cinematic perspective. The sound was also beautiful. The voice cast returns from the series, which just as always, there really good. The sound effects, music and all that stuff was pretty chill too.

OTHER THINGS
Don't get me wrong, I loved this movie a lot, but my biggest and most apparent complaint is the tone of the movie. This movie lacks any of the humor, fun and clever-ness of the show. It's not a grand story about people conquering races to face God, nor is it about the clever strategies used to beat people with simple games. What made the show so great were these things: humor, fun and cunning. Those things are clearly replaced by feels, intensity and a darker storyline, but I just prefer something fun and optimistic over a war story. It's this that stopped me from enjoying this movie as much I should've. But that's just me, don't let that stop you from enjoying this.

OVERALL 8/10
This movie is really good! Yes, it's really dark and slow at the beginning, but these flaws are over-shadowed by the really well-animated action, touching story and everything else that makes movies good. It's when you realize that this is part of no game no life that makes you see the flaws. Regard this as a standalone movie, that'll make it seem a lot better than it already is.

Yes you need to watch this movie. It is a masterpiece.

Oh wow giving this movie a 10/10 what am i saying this movie has no weak points yada yada? Honestly i have watched a lot of movies in the "Anime" genre and i don't understand why they would say Grave of the fireflies, Howl of the moving castle are the few movies that can be considered masterpieces. Just because they were "classic" or they had some special animation I DON'T CARE.

What i care about is what "Emotions" an anime movie or tv series would leave behind after watching it.

No game no life zero is ... the BEST movie i have ever watched HANDS DOWN. Even beating all the other movies i have watched in my entire life. Detective conan? Titanic? Spiderman? Interstellar? NGNLZ has raised my expectations to a whole another level, bringing down all the shit i have watched in my entire lifetime. Only Monster and steins gate i can safely say gives me the same satisfaction as NGNLZ in terms of entertainment value.

In my opinion the plot of "HER" is actually predictable in the movie because of the atmosphere it gives so you can already tell where the show is going since the beginning of the anime but really, this is the greatest entertainment that can be classified in my "Shows" category.

SUMMARY:
Honestly all the dislikes are from Robot-romance haters, Sora/Shiro radicals, CGI spotters and violence-prone teens who complain about lack of fight scenes. Those people are not only straightforward, they became straight-downward with 1/10 ratings.
I wasn't invested in the No Game No Life universe and all of its lore until this movie. In tv show, races were barely introduced and it was all about games and kemonomimi.
The movie didnt manage to pull my heart's strings but it was a really good one. It is worth watching just for visuals and lore, therefore it gets a gigantic [[ 9/10 ]] !!

The anime was good, even though I don't plan to watch the series 'No Game No Life' that is associated with the movie yet. One of the major problems however is the lack of backstory. I know there is a reference in the beginning, but that is because my friend told me about it (shoutout to Hemastram by the way). Also, everything happens so fast. Therefore, it can be confusing at times but everything settles down just fine as the movie goes on. The characters are nice, their interactions are good, the spirit of them is good enough to keep my focus on the ... screen. SFX is very well done, especially if your sound system has decent bass (sometimes it adds a nice feeling along with the events). Overall, I recommend this movie to anyone who sees this review, but I also suggest that you keep going with the series after that. Let's say it is a preparation to what the latter will be.

So to be clear, here are the pros:
-The characters are appealing and they are likeable
-The SFX are insanely good
-The overall experience is great

Cons:
-The story happens so fast that you sometimes forget/don't know how to feel.

The reason why I think its the best anime movie is that MADHOUSE (studio that made this movie) did everything perfect (characters, plot, art, etc). The art style was beautiful, and the characters were awesome, and realistic. No Game No Life: Zero is a action/romance movie. Action/romance is the best type of anime genre. Its one of the most popular anime movies ever, and theres a lot of great reasons why. I think the best thing about it was the story. It was amazing, and sad, but perfect. You guys should totally ... watch this movie! You will cry, and it will change you.

No Game No Life: Zero is a movie that serves as a prequel to the No Game No Life anime series. The movie has a different tone compared to the anime series, as it is darker and more serious in nature. However, it still retains the same charm and wit that made the anime series so popular. In this review, I will be discussing the movie in detail, highlighting its strengths ... and weaknesses.

Had to write this while it's still fresh in my mind.

The first season of No Game No Life is undoubtedly good with it's plot and setting. But this took prequel setting and show us gruesome part before new world created.

They using darker tone on this movie. Plot, action scene and character was really good! Hat's off to Mad House. Although few question left unanswered, I hope in season 2 ( if they planning to run the show ) those question will be answered.


Personally i think 1 hour and a half is not enough. ... With this kind of plot they could run it for 12 episodes for more exposition. Ending gave me mixed feelings, not sure either I'm happy or sad but I sure as hell satisfied with this movie.

I'm really glad this movie screening in my country even though for a week only.

To be honest, I went into this movie with zero(geddit?) expectations. What proceeded was me being absolutely blown away by the magnitude of what ensued. It was as if someone sneaked in when I expected the least and surprised me with one of the most magnificent stories I've seen lately. That's how I could summarize the experience of watching this movie. I'm so satisfied I found something worthy of giving such a high praise after a seemingly endless mediocrity of anime, yet it's what normally occurs once you indulge too much in one particular medium. This could easily be made into a stand-alone movie. I ... felt like the plot itself was underestimating its worth throughout the film and I was bothered at the idea of returning to its inferior shell(original tv show). I'm still a little befuddled and stumbling for words, that's how you know you've just seen a masterpiece. I feel like further words would be unnecessary, other than it's truly a must-see work of art, don't miss it.

full disclaimer, this review is coming from someone who had a thoroughly good time with the original series so there definitely will be some favorably bias at play here, but if that isn't a dealbreaker, I hope this review can be of some use to you.

No Game No Life Zero, as is the tradition with any manga/anime series with 'Zero' in its title, explores the backstory of the main anime series, specifically with how the world of Disboard came to be.

Jumping back some 6000 years when gods ruled the lands and Immanity was an unnamed race if you're expecting the same sort of ... goofy, light-hearted but at times mind-fucky nonsense of the original series you're in for a rough ride. NGNL0 takes on a noticeably heavier-handed approach in its storytelling, with the weight of war weighing down heavily on Riku's, our protagonist, shoulders as he struggles to keep the few survivors of humanity out of harm's way as the gods wage war for absolute power. I won't get into much more detail here for the sake of spoilers, but as far as storytelling goes, NGNL0 definitely gets the big picture right. It's gritty, it's serious and it delivers its messages with a surprising amount of tact, something I definitely wasn't expecting from a series that had me watching anime characters proclaim the healthiness of having no nipples while playing shiritori (Japanese word chain). Even with some of the cliches and cheesiness throughout its 2 hour runtime, I found myself charmed at the movie's sincerity to tell a genuine story and was hooked from beginning to end.

I will say though, that NGNL0 has quite a few narrative 'bumps' along the way that might take you out of a scene or two especially towards the end when the plot starts to properly chug along. While these aren't necessarily glaring plotholes, the story utilizes a heavy amount of hand-waving for some pretty important character development, which can understandably dampen the viewing experience. Coming from the main series you shouldn't really have any problem figuring out the gist of the characters and be able to fill in the blanks of the movie, but for newcomers or people who disliked the main series' characters, there's little here for you.

Aesthetically speaking, NGNL0 is marvelous and really can't be faulted. The gorgeous eye candy of the main series is as present as ever and the music is just as good, if not better than before. Double thumbs up from me!

Whether you'll enjoy NGNL0 simply boils down to how invested you were in the anime, to begin with. Questions you might have had about the world of Disboard get answered adequately and you get a nice personal story to boot, what's not to love? Even if you weren't necessarily interested in the world originally, like me, you'll probably have a good time watching this movie and leave with a smile on your face.

This was one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Its not a surprise it went from rank 69 to rank 44 (currently).

Story 10/10 - Although a bit darker than the usual NGNL theme (as in the anime) it perfectly fits in (since we are talking about the great war here) and is perfectly mixed with the humor the anime has. Its one of those stories that bring you to tears.

Art 10/10 - I am not a big art critique, so I cant really go detailed here, but the art was very appealing to me. It didnt have any flaws (speaking technically) ... and it certainly was beautiful.

Sound 10/10 - If you have watched the TV NGNL (and you should before watching the movie) you'll know that it has some of the best OST you have heard, that make you tremble. The movie keeps up with this - I loved the music. As about sounds in general - they fit perfectly.

Character 10/10 - As I said, this is war, we have darker theme. For 100 minutes movie it goes deep into the main characters. I had the feeling the side characters were a bit left on the side, but it feels that was the right thing to be done here - the story is heavily centered at Riku and Schwi.

Enjoyment 10/10 - It brought me to tears, and I kicked out my sister interrupting me while watching it. I believe that says enough.

Overall 10/10 - Absolutely beautiful movie. It just feels complete. However if you have decided to watch it, or have interest in it - I highly recommend watching the anime. But dont worry - the anime is pretty good as well.

In conclusion I have only one thing to say - since this beautiful movie was created and has such high attention I highly hope for NGNL season 2. !!!

No Game No Life was a fun anime which I enjoyed. Even though the core premise is seen way to often in the anime community, it had a fun twist on the isekai cliché, filled with endearing characters who had both personality and intellect. Heck even Sora made for a great protagonist as he is a blunt, psychotic, genius, lolicon as opposed to male protagonist no. 1068 who embodies the ideals of horny pubescent teenage boys. When I heard that Madhouse was planning to release a movie based on the prequel novel to the series, I was extremely ... surprised by how brilliant the movie turned out to be!

Story – 8/10

NGNL Zero embodies what a prequel should do for me. A prequel should be filled with exposition explaining the current structure of the world and how the events portrayed in the prequel have an effect on the world of the sequel, while also telling us a unique story. NGNL Zero tells the story of the rebels and the fight against the empire or in this case the weakest race trying to survive during the ongoing war amongst the gods and their respective creations. The story follow’s the adorable Schwi and the intelligent Riku as they bend the superior races to do their bidding. It makes for a truly engaging watch as we want the weak Imanity to survive this war which is way out of there league. Watching Riku plot every aspect of his plan to the finest detail, makes for some Light Yagami level intellect and it was pretty cool to see a mainstream isekai where the protagonist most powerful weapon isn’t his bullshit main character powers or plot armor, but pure uncensored intellect. Also the relationship between Riku and Schwi is really sweet and feels natural, which is something you don’t see too often in light novel adaptations.

It’s a Madhouse produced movie. What more can I say? Madhouse is known for their fantastic production values, regardless of the anime being a movie or a TV series. NGNL Zero is no exception to the fact as the amount of detail put into every single frame is mind-boggling. The movie manages to take the fantastic art style from the light novel and reproduce it without any degeneration of the overall quality. Beautiful, bleak, war torn set-pieces are found throughout the length of the movie and create a fantastic atmosphere when accompanied by the fantastic soundtrack. All the character in the movie appears to be the ancestors of the main cast of NGNL, but none the less they are all well designed.

Sound – 9/10

With Jin Aketagawa as the sound director for the movie, there was hardly any chance that the soundtrack would be bad. Every single track is beautifully done and manages to work fantastically with the atmosphere of the movie. The tracks themselves feel like something out of the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings as they give you the sense that an epic is about to unfold before your very eyes. Voice acting was another strongpoint for the movie as I happen to really enjoy the voice acting. I felt that the voice actors managed to nail their respective characters personalities greatly and I especially found the voice of Schwi as soothing as the soundtrack of Non Non Biyori.

Character – 8/10

If you haven’t noticed already, I really enjoyed this movie. One of the best parts of the movie was the character Riku and Schwi and eventually the relationship between the two of them. Schwi is equally parts adorable and terrifying as she is a member of one of the most powerful races in the world of Disboard. I found it heart-warming to see this mechanical being evolve into a person who could feel, relate and love. Her joining the ranks of Imanity was simple proof that she had evolved beyond what her race divined as normal. Riku is intelligent and caring, as seen when he mourns the deaths of his comrades and it was nice seeing a leader who could act both with his heart and mind. What makes these characters so endearing is the relationship between them, one which should make a lick of sense, but still manages to do so. Seeing two characters fawn and care for each other made their relationship a great addition to the plot of the story and eventually lead to me crying like a little bitch when the inevitable happened.

Enjoyment – 10/10

NGNL Zero manages to be both fun and serious. The interactions between the characters and gorgeous visuals / soundtrack being equally parts fun and serious and the story allowing to build the background for the world as we know it, while being generally entertaining to watch. The brilliant combination of story, characters and astonishingly high production values makes NGNL Zero my personal favourite movie of 2017.

Overall – 9/10

The main reason I found this movie as spectacular as it was, is the fact that it completely shattered my expectations. I was expecting weak writing and bland characters, but it turned out that the only bullshit thing about NGNL Zero, were in fact my poor expectations for the movie. Whether you are a NGNL fan or a cancerous elitist, NGNL Zero is a movie which defines the peak of the isekai genre.

While people are still debating whether this movie is good or bad, for this movie is pretty acceptable if you are into that perverted jokes that No Game No Life had been notorious for. Well, as you can see this is a PREQUEL of No Game No Life so I have been prepared for the same recipe that No Game No Life had been lived for : Beautiful animations with very remarkable color palettes, lolis, fan service and perverted jokes that seemingly fits to the situation. And because that expectation has been fulfilled, this movie is an acceptable movie.

The story really build from how the ... world of Disboard is on a great war and humanity (or Imanity in No Game No Life's case) is on the brink of destruction. It was a very good start until I know that the characters are exact carbon copies of the No Game No Life recurring characters which is Sora and Shiro except they are not siblings so they can literally love each other without that border of being siblings. Something that made this story interesting that the main pair are not exactly overpowered like Sora and Shiro, they are weaker and not unbeatable so it's really unpredictable whether Riku and Schwi were going to win or not. This gambling situation really made the story really interesting in someway.

In terms of animation, I think MADHOUSE really did a great job. Different from how bright the No Game No Life series is, this movie takes a darker color palettes from the original ones and made a firm statement of how is the movie theme (that is about war) while not straying away from being No Game No Life. Even I noticed, after the war ended, the color significantly became brighter from before and became a mark that the war has ended and the dark times had ended. For me, it is very outstanding. Giving the feels of the war is dark yet painful to overcome and without war everything seemed brighter.

I may or may not been focused on listening to the soundtrack as its not what they tries to excel. There maybe few events that really played out with the soundtracks but it seemed that it is not very stand out and I would say it was an okay.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie and not disappointed at all. I don't know about the others but when I watched this, the whole audiences started to gave this movie a standing ovation after this movie ended. So, I thought that movie successfully giving the audience a good time. I am hereby giving this movie a fair 8 as acceptable yet outstanding animation sequences.

This film has so much potential... when it came to the Trailers, your thoughts are "The animations are beautiful, the story sounds well compose, the reviews are at its highest in japan.
But, Let us move away from all that hype and take it to an expectation. True, the art is beautiful for each character and background character, ... which makes every character in the story seem like they all have a part in the movie. Immanity, the Dwarves, Flugel and the Werebeasts - They were unique.
The music is well compose making what would've have been the most dreaded moments of the film to the most eye catching moments. I thought the sound design will over take the film, thankfully, i was wrong. For each scene, the sound became equally impacting to meet expectations.
Every fight made the film feel like every battle feel was at it's last.

Here's the problem.

I'm not going to say the film was horrible... but even the producer told us the film had a lot of talk about "What would be best for this film?" He even stated a few staff disagreed to the original concepts.
There's a lot of problems that would've made this a great film.

Screen time. Screen time bled through this movie, and i mean a lot. I notice a lot about how the film is mostly the relationship or "Bond" between the leading characters, NOT the prolonging war between the gods. Which was fine, yet the film was always set on "The Moment"... which was always them together and having mostly One on One time.
A few pointless narration. Look at this, God says this is the world you see, just like the trailers, then Riku does one narration after another. And it gets really dull since you hear the same thing multiple times.
The support characters are barely there. Stephanie Dola's ancestor is there, but that's the only character who builds the illusion of a support character. Their worth only grow once you see their plan's moving forward.
Obviously, the film's antagonist is the other Ixseeds or races, but they barely even show. Jibril VS Shuvi is the most exciting scenes you can actually see the antagonist fight one of our leading characters. That fight, was also, one out of the three small screen time battles you will see in this film whether how big the battles get, the only long battle we had in this anime was Jibril VS Shuvi and that's really it.
This film is mostly life for Riku rather not Immanity. Did i forget to mention that it has more than one Introduction scene.

i know this seems like i'm attacking the film but i'm being ambiguous as possible to NOT spoil this film too much.

I really did enjoy watching the film. The animation and the gorgeous Music/Sound. The battle among the Ixseeds was kinda left out... The incest... again, being ambiguous on "Incest"... well, the film mostly compose of the lack of support and character development any where besides the leading characters. You don't even need to watch the movie, unless you want to see how the war really ends. Or at least the seldom of action sequences. I was very anxious for this movie, I did not read the novel yet so I put a fuck to the holes in the script too, I started to watch and turned out to be something much more than I expected. Riku and Schwi really did captivate me, Riku's attitude and decision-making, as well as the weight he carried, was something I did not expect to show so strongly in this film. On the subject of Jibril, I share the same opinion, I understand why to do that, I can not say that she was wrong in that situation, but I still felt a certain ... anger, but the last one speaks of her at the end of the film where she recognizes Schwi as being part of Imanity, I liked it a lot, ED had heard before, but after this movie and after reading the lyrics, I now have other feelings to hear it.

Overall it was a 10/10 movie I have nothing that would displease me in it, so much art, soundtrack, story, characters and environments are unique and perfect pieces that give you an unforgettable immersion.

Well, I just watched this as the blu-ray has come out, and oh boy is it a doozy. If you want the SparkNotes, here it is: No Game No Life Zero is a movie with amazing aesthetic that's ruined by occasional trashy moments, and a great plot that's ruined by dreadful rushed pacing. It still manages to be a pretty darn great and enjoyable movie overall and in my opinion better than the main series, so I highly recommend you watch it. Now, at this point you could go straight to watching the movie, but if you want more detail then ... read on.

Ratings: Story 8/10, Art 10/10, Sound 7/10, Character 6/10, Enjoyment 10/10, Overall 8/10.

First of all, the aesthetic is really damn fitting for what they're trying to portray. It's dark as all hell and it works perfectly. It's very different from what you see in most anime so it might feel a little wrong at the start but you continue watching and it's oh so right. It's done very well and it really feels like a complete world even though you haven't really got much introduction to it. The struggles of humanity (and yes, I'm pretty sure they're "Humanity" in this movie, not "Imanity") are portrayed perfectly.

Plot is pretty meh, I like military/strategic plots so I liked it but someone without this bias may not find it that great, there's some stuff whose almost sole goal is to move forward the plot. Not to mention that most of the good plot (IMO) is concentrated between the 55 and 85% complete mark (this is only a rough estimation though), before that there's a lot of nothing and after that the pacing is way too fast, it's kind of incomprehensible what's going on. It would have been a lot better as a set of movies or an extremely long movie, and required 2h15 at the very least to properly convey what's going on at the end. While you understand on a basic level what's happening, it could be difficult to understand why each strategy is being carried out.

Animation is quite good, it's excellent most of the time and works well with the aesthetic but there's some very bad use of CGI, especially for the Ex-machina. Apart from that though, animation is top-quality.

Now what you probably want to know is whether it's as trashy as the original series. And the answer is... kinda? Like there are some trashy moments and it fits in absolutely horrendously with the rest of the movie because of the general aesthetic. I feel like there's less trashyness than the series but that it is more detrimental to overall quality, if that makes sense.

There's also some cliche scenes which sub out for character development for the main character, Riku. I'm especially hard on these kinds of things so you may not feel it as much, but I dunno. I feel character development has been done pretty well for him overall however. For the other characters, I think that Schwi (secondary main)'s character development is fairly well done. I won't go deeper into that because it'd be spoilers. However, one other thing about the character development is that there's a major moment that feels too early, but only because there's a one year timeskip, which you won't even recognise as a timeskip the first time you watch. This timeskip is also very unfortunate because it comes during what in my opinion is the best part of the movie.

The animation and aesthetic are immensely well done and the only major issue with the movie is its pacing. Because of that, I feel it definitely deserves a watch, especially if you were a fan of the main series.

'No Game No Life: Zero' is an anime movie portraying the historical events of Disboard. As it provides a backdrop of the world's history, it effectively fleshes out the world, enriching the viewer's experience by fulfilling holes that season 1 of 'No Game No life' has left behind.

As the main focus of the story is subjugated to war with death being amongst the most influential factor of the movie, the movie's intended audience is for the much maturer audience, illustrating the adversities that war has to offer.

Through many hardships, the movie attempts to illustrate a deep-moving story, showing consequences of every ... action, the harsh depiction of reality, and the little hope depicted in war. However, the story's pacing is rather rushed, some scenes that are of major importance are shortened and overloaded with information which may cause the audience to overlook some important evidence. Because this occurs frequently, the characters have a feeling of fasten development - where small events would have drastic changes to the characters persona. If you are not aware of this and skip vital information, you may find yourself confused through the story. However, the story is straight-foward, hence it is very predictable what will happen and even if vital information is lost, you should be able to gather enough information to know what is happening.

The Art is mediocore, it's definitely not as great as some movies that put attention in detail, but it's still decent having the similiar qualities of that of any regular animes. The color palette is very consistent but very limited to dark colors to depict the bad qualities of war, and perhaps to created a more old style look to the movie, however, the colour scheme is well selected, complimenting the war and therefore showcasing the seriousness the characters have when interacting in war.

Characters have similiar tropes to the characters in No Game No Life, Season 1. They are oddly familiar and have the same voice actors, which is nice as it makes the characters very relatable to the characters in season 1. Just note, they are not the same characters.

Although i have listed all these negative points, the movie is still well crafted and should be watched as it has in store, a coaster of feels ready to be splashed at you. If you enjoy No Game No Life, Season 1, definitely watch this, you won' t regret it.
