Yoshiwara is besieged by a mysterious incense that has the ability to make whoever smell it fall for the first person they see; poor Tsukuyo is hit, her already secret attraction with Gintoki intensified. In trying to gather the incense, Tsukuyo's slip-up causes the entire district to be affected by the smoke, including the Yorozuya (and Tae, Kyuubei, and Kondou who happened to be there at the time). Can the Yorozuya and Tsukuyo overcome their afflictions to stop the perpetrator?
It's Gintama, you either like Gintama or you don't.
Though if you're new to Gintama, or just want to check it out, you can watch this two part OVA, like this has many of the common gags that you'll find in any other Gintama arc.
Step 1. Take an object.
Step 2. Make said object interact with any of the characters in an odd way.
Step 3. Add flavour.
Step 4. Add jokes and gags.
Step 5. Make all characters that normally interact with one and another do something unexpected.
Step 6. Make any encouter needlessly strange.
Step 7. Take some weird twists.
Step 8. Dirty jokes fall well with the audience right?
Step 9. Add randomly pieced together story elements.
Step 10. You now have Gintama.
That's right, this OVA, is just like any other Gintama arc, and as such if you're already familiar with Gintama, this is just as good as any other (insert random arc here), and if you're new, you'll get a nice approach only by watching this OVA as a stand alone arc.
One of the best things that I like about Gintama is that you can just jump straight in to any arc, and you'll pretty much be ready, set and go, and this goes for basicly anything when it comes to the entire Gintama series, you don't particularly have to watch everything, you can just watch any arc in basicly any order (kind of) without getting confused or feel weird about it.
What you will get out of Gintama, are three things: 1. You'll laugh your arse off from the stupid, yet brilliant gags. 2. Excited, because you'll never know what will happen next and you'll probably end up surprized, and 3. Full joyment, even if an arc is spoiled for you, you'll still be able to fully enjoy it, since that doesn't take away from the overall experience.read more
Gintama°: Aizome Kaori-hen is an OVA of some unadapted manga chapters. Nothing different from the typical Gintama comedy arcs, with hilarious situations and touching moments towards the end.
The story is nothing special, even i would say it's rather confusing, i felt the "main antagonist" just as a plot device to start the situation shown. Her reasons to do what she do are not reliable at all, but in the end the show knows how to fix it.
This OVA is hilarious. It certainly lacks the typical referential jokes which Gintama abuses day by day and has a lot of sexual jokes and crazy situations related to that instead. I'll always be amazed by how Gintama manages to go insane in just a second. This OVA is full of it.
However, the show is not full of humour: The romance used to build the plot and the character herself are not good per se, if she lived in Yoshiwara all this time they could show her us previously to develop her well; however, the ending of this situation is good enough.
The animation is the same as usual Gintama TV adaptation, as well as the sound, using powerful and well known tracks and the OP16, which was the last in Gintama° before things turned serious so it is appropiate for this OVA.
Overall i enjoyed this just as much as Gintama TV series, but the plot is not that good (just one comedy arc and not amazing though) and it's just two episodes. But is fun as hell, so, if you like Gintama watch it, recommended.read more
