This really really looked like Studio Ghibli's work.
Mostly because there's magical furniture.
I was proven wrong.

The animation was beautiful and atmospheric, the characters looks cute. Hell, even the chair looked like a handsome/beautiful bastard.

The music was used in good moments (jumps, drama, etc) and changes tone at the right moments.

The only good character is the chair, which is the story changer, he's the best character because:
He helped the girl get new friends, therefore have a good childhood.
And mostly because he helps her at all times.

It's just 3 minutes and a half, and surprisingly: It made me write this review.

I will start of by stating that I thought this was very different and better than what I expecting this to be. While I do have experience with the director's other works, this has a level of charm I feel to be absent in most of the other stuff directed by this man.

STORY
This is a modern take on Shel Silverstein's classic, The Giving Tree. The director takes the base of the story and takes a different approach than the original, but maintaining the charm that brought us all to love the original tale. Instead of a tree we have a chair that can move on read more

Poulette no Isu is a short film directed by Hiroyasu Ishida about a young girl with a magical chair. Because of the length of this short, I'd honestly rather not say anything else, but that also makes Poulette no Isu very easy to recommend.

It's under five minutes long, the artwork is top-notch with very bright yet soft colors, and the animation rivals that of Studio Ghibli while bearing a striking resemblance. Aside from that, it manages to portray a simple chair as a charming character, and it tells its story without dialogue or exposition, something which is an underappreciated mastercraft in its own right.
