When it comes to takes on magical girls, Sailor Moon is the known classic, while Madoka is known for taking a dark spin on the classic, not shying away from focusing on the tragedy of being a magical girl, yet Sailor Moon, despite being a classic doesn't shy away from pushing boundaries for the time either.

Tokyo Mew Mew is what one gets if one takes the classic Sailor Moon and adds in the element of girls becoming animals within their magical transformations. In contrast, the classic focuses on embodying the planets. There is also a softness to both series, with the leader being of similar personality, not to mention interested in their love interest which in turn is a staple of certain magical girl series.

Both are magical girl series involving transformations. Both Sailor Moon and Princess Tutu use love and justice to conquer their enemies, although instead of using violence Princess Tutu battles through dance. Both shows contain strong themes of friendship, and the main characters in both have a love interest. Both are suitable for younger audiences but still can be enjoyed by older anime fans.

The two of these are very similar in terms of genre, plot and quality, but Binan Koukou is almost like a parody--it's very good for those with Sailor Moon nostalgia, or those who have fun laughing at typical magical girl tropes. In short, it's almost like a mix of Sailor Moon Crystal and Free!, and not to be taken seriously at all. Good downtime watch material.

Black★Rock Shooter is a lesser-known series, one that explores darker themes than the classic Sailor Moon many are going to be familiar with, yet another draw to the lesser known Anime is the setting that the magical girl battles draw from as well as the psychological part of the series, which for some will be a nice change up for Sailor Moon, and yet there is still something about the classical magical girl series that viewers may want to come back to.

Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura are known for being classics when it comes to magical girl, yet each of these series ended up setting standards for what the audience expects from the genre while also not pushing boundaries to the level some of the later, their strength being in the characters as well as the storytelling and thus they've stood the test of time.

Both are animated by Toei, Princess Precure's animation is 100x better though. Both are colourful magical girl series with little filler (for a Precure season). Both heavily include princess elements. Transformations, villains, monsters and story.

Similarity - have transformation scene - friendship Difference - Doremi didn't only use magic when facing bad guy Which one is better? Doremi

From similiar themes to transformations, and even time travel, these two classic storylines feel like two different sides of the same coin.

This two anime have magical god-like power, the main character fight against evil in order to save the world from destruction. This two anime even has cat as the friend of main character. They are made out of story from past and future.

Uta Kata and Sailor Moon Crystal are two magical girl anime starring a 14 year old female protagonist with magical powers. Both series are notable in their own ways, as Uta Kata is one of the few examples of a darker magical girl series before the 2010s, and Sailor Moon Crystal is an adaptation of the legendary 1991 manga that single-handedly popularized the magical girl warrior subgenre. They both have darker elements and good soundtracks as well.

There are 5 characters in the main cast There are "enemies of the week" and one main enemy The main characters have "alter egos" with special powers necessary to defeat evil (Although, JoJo cast do not transform, but summon said egos) Both are old manga and old anime remade with sharp animation and bright colors. Also, note the 3d in both the openings. ps: Sailor Jupiter looks like Kakyoin, with wavy pink hair and green uniform.

A legendary shoujo anime, it has a similar animation style and overall similar feeling.

Both are currently airing Mahou Shojo animation by Toei. While Sailor Moon Anime was hiatus for 17 years. Precure has slowly filled that gap till Crystal came. Both have similar themes as well. While Precure has always change their themes in it's new entry. Sailor Moon has stuck to it's own throughout. While some may argue that Sailor Moon is much more mature than Precure, especially how this Crystal s now following the more darker content of the manga series. Precure can be pretty dark at times. And it seems by the look of things at Happiness Charge, we'll be getting there pretty shortly. So if you want more Mahou  read more

Both center around a team of powerful fighters who have outer space origins, who's duty it is to defend Earth from enemies from outer space, and who also have to keep their identities a secret. Colorful characters, unlikely heroes, comedy, mystery of main character's origin (in Dragon Ball Super's case, the mystery was solved in prequels), talking animals, time travel, new enemies every arc, friendship & family, character transformations - Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon have more things in common that one might expect. Goku and Usagi are both simple minded, childlike protagonists with hearts of gold that attracts others to them. Crystal and Super  read more

- transformations - fighting the "evil" - their loved one lives in an other "world" (girls are mermaids, and their boys are humans) - friendship and love is important
