Synopsis

The reincarnation of Himiko, the former queen of Yamatai, has decided to wage war against all magatama wielders of Kanto. In order to recover her lost kingdom, she must gather the true Three Sacred Treasures of Japan.

When Himiko's ally, Asaemon Yamada, ruthlessly attacks Nanyou Academy—which possesses the sacred sword Himiko is after—Chuubou Sonken, Hakufu Sonsaku's newfound sister, awakens her dragon but loses consciousness. Determined to save her sibling, Hakufu must recover her magatama at the Jofuku Temple—a legendary place where she will receive training that may cost her her life.

As the frontier between the living and the dead starts to vanish in Jofuku, the warriors of the Kanto region will have to unite in order to foil Himiko's mysterious plans.

Today's world is a victim of a detestable sickness: The sickness of the airhead people who cannot understand a good story only because they see fan service. They are probably scared about boobs, and that's why their brain cannot follow the story of ecchi animes.

Please don't misunderstand me. There are a lot of simple and boring ecchi animes (as well as in all the other genres). But Ikki Tousen is an example of an old-school ecchi anime with a great story.

Not all the chapters of Ikki Tousen have been good (Western Wolves was a complete disaster). But after waiting for three years, we finally have ...

It’s all part of the “ecchi” anime genre. These stories deal with sexually sensitive and scandalous topics, but they do not cross the line into pornography at any point. The anime has a lot of these things and will be fun to watch.

Mixed Feelings

It's obvious now that there's a much bigger story they're trying to tackle with these short burst of OVA episodes, but with so much time in between and just a few episode released at a time I doubt there's much actual hype being generated. The only thing that probably keeps people coming back is the booba, but even that seemed a lot toned down in this season from some of the previous ones. It's still there, I don't think it'd really be Ikkitousen without it, but it feels mellowed out and dare I say a bit more mature.
