 The cover of the upcoming 43rd issue of Weekly Shounen Jump has revealed that a new TV season for the Gintama franchise is planned. It also mentions that the manga is in its final climax. The magazine will be released on September 26, 2016.Hideaki Sorachi's manga Gintama began publication in Weekly Shounen Jump in December 2003, and its 65th volume was just released on August 4. Japan's Yearly Manga Rankings placed Gintama at 17th for the first half of 2016, selling 1,468,890 copies. Gintama received its first TV anime series in Spring 2006, and then three following TV anime adaptations, for a total of 316 episodes. Various movies, OVA episodes, and specials have also been produced for the franchise. A live-action adaptation was recently announced, and is slated to release in 2017. | I'm ready for the "all those Gintama TV seasons should be forged into one" or "Gintama is overrated" threads. Anyways, this is brilliant. So hyped for Joui4, even if it's really sad that it's ending, just give us Gintama Z or something (but not GT, pls not.). Hope the skipped comedy arcs will be animated into OVA's like Aizome Kaori btw. |

One of the great things of Gintama, is that their voice actors are brilliant. I feel like it would be hard for English voice actors to even come near that level. I suggest just try to watch an episode or 2, 3, 50 a week. It will take a while for the new season to come anyway. |
| Happy that it'll get an anime continuation, but this may very well be the last one that'll adapt up to the end of the manga. RIP Kimi no na wa, you were good while it lasted :3 It'll be amazing if they adapt the skipped comedy arcs though :D |

| Hell yeah xd I was a little worried that the series would not be able to get another season because the manga is literally ending xd But now the series will be able to have a real ending both in the manga and anime version, something that not many shounen series have manage to achive (cry) But it's surprising that they announced it this early when it's been hardly a half year since it ended xd Guess I really underastimated the popularity of the show xd Now the big question is if this final season will contain just the serious arcs or maybe also some of the skipped ones and when the actual show will actually air... |
