About My Username:
I used my 4 most favorite male characters from the Gundam Seed series. Two from the first one(Kira Yamato & Athrun Zala) and two from the second one, Destiny(Shinn Asuka & Auel Neider).
1. The first 3 letters of each characters first name. Kira Athrun Shinn Auel
2. Kira and Athrun appear first in Gundam Seed(they appear in Destiny too). Shinn and Auel don't appear until Seed Destiny. So, since Kira and Athrun appear first, they go first, in my name. kirAth
3. I did it on purpose to have Athrun and Auel appear second to their partner and have the first letter in their name (A) in CAPS.
kirAth shiAue
4. One character has his whole name in there, and thats Kira. kirAth shiAue
I also did that on purpose, because he is my #1 most favorite male character from the Gundam Seed seris.
It's the most original name I came up with(early in 2006), and it's now my main forum name. I don't really think of it as a name with favorite characters anymore. To me it sounds like it's own name.

The Dragon Ball Z dub is pretty bad. The only thing that dub had going for it was Sean Schemmel as Goku, and Sabat as Vegeta, Piccolo and Yamcha. The rest of the dub was ok, or pretty bad depending on the scene. It's not horrible, nor is it distracting, but theres much better dubs out there then that. (Brian Drummond did a great job as Vegeta in the early seasons as well) .Your looking through nostalgia tinted glasses if you think that dub was really good ;). And yes I think most dubs are good, THAT'S why I think your crazy to have a problem with them. And THAT's why I watch mostly dubs. Most are good enough to watch, and many are even amazing. And yes I gave you good reviews, but most people feel that show has a good dub. Every review that talked about the dub, seemed to like it...Your entitled to your opinion of course, but I must disagree with it. While the show calls for no difficult acting, it's a wonderful and charming dub, with a very witty script, perfect casting and very well produced and directed. Something only NYC could give us. Nothing at all is wrong with it.
Azumanga Daioh was a great dub, one of ADV's most well liked dubs too. I really enjoyed that dub. Made the show much better then what it was. The dubs on Death Note and Black Lagoon are some of the best ever made as far as I'm concerned, even better then Bebop. Code Geass is a decent dub, but WAY to assembly line for my tastes. Same people, cast in the same roles, doing the same thing, and not doing it well. I'll take the amazing World Of Narue dub over that anyday, I mean that's something original and fresh right there.
Anyway enough about that. I hope you don't mine these conversations ;). Even though i disagree with you on these things, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy talking to you ;). Oh and have you checked out my review blog? ( http://predeanimereview.blogspot.com/ ) Do you my reviews are ok? Any problems with it?
Oh and just finished watching "The Familiar of Zero". I thought that was a great show. Some really good fluff if you ask me. It doesn't try to be some amazing show or anything, but it entertained me and got much better then I thought it would have been. What did you think about it?
WHAT? Horrible? Come on that's an amazing dub. It got great reviews everywhere, and it's held very highly among dub fans. Easily one the best dubs to come out of New York City. CPM put a lot of work into that dub, and the title it's self. You really just don't like anything do you? I think you need your ears checked ;) (just kidding but really what ARE you listening too...I really do have to question you here. Are you just saying that? Please come on now get real)
And the story is so cute, you just gata love it ;) ? It gets much better after episode 2. But if you don't like it now, I don't see your opinion changeing much. Like I said it's a very "everyday" type of show. Nothing unique, but it's a show that still impressed me. It's very character driven, so if your not into more character driven slice of life shows...I can see why you wouldn't like it. It's slow paced, but very fun. It felt very authentic, if you get what I mean. Also it's made more for the guys, so. Perhaps that's your problem with it.
as for the dub:
"The English voice acting cast do an excellent job! I'm in awe ... they're that good. I know that this is screener copy, and therefore not complete, but I really wish I'd had subtitles for at least the Japanese characters that appeard on the screen. And, as I usually prefer the sub I'm curious to hear the Japanese seiyuu, but I'm definitely impressed with the English and wouldn't mind watching the entire series that way." - http://www.sequentialtart.com/reports.php?ID=3056&issue=2004-03-01
Oh you started the World of Narue ? OMG that's like one of my favorite CPM titles! Iit's such a cute little series. It doesn't try and amaze you, or blow you away, it's just a cute little story. It's not at all groundbraking, original, or perfect. But it is an amazing show anyway. It's like everything that's good about anime rolled into one little show! Cute aliens, great characters, some fun, and really good artwork and music. Plus the stories are the best. And a little fanservice to keep everyone happy. The dub is one of CPM's best too. This was one of their bigger titles back in the day, shame it's not well known anymore. Only problem with it is the ending (or so I hear, haven't finished it). I still have half the show to watch, but can't bring myself to do it. Because once it's over I'll be pretty sad lol. CPM brought most of the manga out here too, maybe I'll read that when I'm done. Your watching on Anime Network on Demand (ADV's channel) right? I lost the channel sadly :(. Comcast replaced it with Funimation's (on demand) channel. I'd rather ADV's channel, but at least with Funi's I can test out some of their newer stuff, too see what to buy on DVD.
I'd say it was a classic case of "I didn't like where the plot was going" and "I wasn't crazy about the chracters" pretty much. There were some interesting episodes tied into there, and while I could find a few things to appreciate, it essentially didn't do what other series have already done much better for me. I think there's a chance you could like it, I know I've had my difference in opinion with plenty of anime that many people like, and there are times where I still check out an anime even when people tell me its bad anyway and sometimes strike gold because of it.
No offense but El Hazard seems a little too generic for me. It's probally better then I imagine though. Since it's so short though maybe one day I'll check it out. I never heard anyone ever talk about it before you and tobruk.
As for Pretear, I kind of like how the art looks in that. Not at all a fan of magical girl series either, but Petite Princess Yucie and Princess Tutu are really some high quality stuff. Those are some favorite series of mine. If it's anything like those two I might really like it. Hated Sailor Moon though.
Oh and it seems critics are split on their opinion of Pretear. From 5 Stars "The only flaw I can find with Prétear is that is it so short." to C "It isn’t an insultingly bad show, just a mediocre one....Not the worst thing you'll see this year, but not the best either". But on the average it got very good reviews. Surprised I never heard of it. Looks like something I might really like (as long as it's not "gag me with spoon" cuteness and such).
Pretear and El Hazard are on your favorites list now? I never heard of El Hazard before, and saw an episode of Pretear long, long long ago. I don't know anything about it, other then I saw it. I probally wasn't blow away by the first episode otherise I'd remember it more. But rarely is a first episode good enough to do that (El Cazador did it! ...uh...NANA too ...is that it?).
So simply put. I know next to nothing on both series. Whats so good about them? Why now randomly are they your favorites? Anything I'd like in them.
Haha yeah I found your Utena pic when I was looking around on PZ the other day. It was under the main sites listing for Utena. I saw it and said "I gata show you this" hehe. That's from quite a few years back am i right?
And yeah, the anime has to have action, or else you get "stumped" in completeing it. I'm not to quite a horror person, but i can see the appeal. I like Vampire D, and some like that, but the gore....i have a weak tummy Y_Y!!! LOL
But then again if the storyline is good....>_>, neeway.... i do agree with you about dramas, that's why i dont' like much of the high school ones and hentai, just drama and sex, can't really get into it. I like more action with fighting and some space stuff like robotec....but really to speak of gore i do like Fist of the North Star. LOVED IT!!! ^_^ so i guess i have a "half"-tummy for some gore and stuff! LOL And yeah, i have to agree with you on teh ninjas and pirates. I really don't see how peeps keep puttin that pair together! puzzles me ------> ?__?
oh well, we have some in common. It's nice hearing from you!
<333
Ah interesting. I always wondered why you watched that show. I knew about the show for some time, being one of thoese "epic yet long series" everyone always talks about like "Legend of the Galactic Heroes". Stuff people said would never get licensed because they were too long, yet still amazingly good. I knew/know nothing else about them though of course. Until you starting talking about it ;) . Well now I know. Something kinda like that that happened with Now and Then, Here and There. I only heard a few things about it time from time, but never paid much attention to them. The I heard it was "the best anime ever" and other really good things about it before it aired on the Sci-Fi channel. So I decided to watch it. I was already planning on seeing Gurren Lagann anyway, so it didn't matter that much. If I didn't like the first episodes though I was not ganna stick with it. It loked very generic and over-rated, and badly animated. Boy was I WRONG (on all fronts). Turns out I liked this show MUCH more then GL. Kinda lost interest in Gurren Lagann as the show went along. Very happy I saw NTHT though!
And you don't like the animation in Monster? GAH!! It's great! While I think it has aged a bit, it's still amazing. I mean damn, look at all the detail in every scene. Plus it doesn't have that generic look. It's very beautiful too, not in a Kyoto Animation (Air, Kanon, Clannad) kind of way, but in a realistic kind of way. Looks like Ergo Proxy, Black Lagoon, Paranoia Agent and Death Note, and I love that style. Plus the character desings are great...
Hello you!
Nice to see that we have some anime in common! What's your most fave type? I like samurai type...with Rurouni Kenshin being my most favorite!
Oh random question. I was just wondering what made you watch Monster in the first place? Just stumble into it, or was it because everyone likes it so much? Some other reason...? just wondering lol.
I still think Lunge is pretty cool. Whenever he is on screen the show is better it. So far every scene with him in it has been more exiting. Personally I don't feel anything towards Johan so far. I don't like him, and I don't hate him. But Lunge is were it's at so far. I really really hate Eva and her Father. Glad the man got what he had coming to him! But Eva is like evil, really "all people are not equal" come on! What the hell is that!? I just wanted to slap her. Tenma is pretty cool though. He's such a nice guy. He's much better then the world around him. Reminds me a lot of Keaton, only Keaton is even cooler. Keaton can make the impossible, possible and I'd buy into it all. That's why he made my favorite person's list.
And yes you should get to watching Master Keaton. Although the first 8 or so episodes are a real disapointment. It really starts to get good after those, and episode 10 and up are just epic. My favorite episode is Episode 27 "The Red Wind" . It's a shame it starts out so weak, because as it keeps going it just amazes you. BTW it's an episodic series, so keep that in mind. I started watching it in June and only recently finished it. Now I'm sad it's over as it was a great show. Solid 9/10 for me .
Go Yankees! :P But like I said I don't really watch baseball, but I do hope they win. Plus I like teaseing you lol. I will watch a little of the World Series if I feel like it though, just to see them win hehe ;) .
Yeah you gata see Now and Then Here and There!! It's such an amazing show. Glad you plan to watch it. Although not sure if you will like the dub on that, it's kind of old. For me though I think it's an amazing dub. But really though what a line-up? Monster and NTHT? Come on you can't beat that. Those are two titles often called "best anime ever". The Monster dub is really good so far, but sometimes it feels a little flat. I actually DIDN'T like Johan's voice, not at all. But everyone says it fits, so I guess they are right...However Lunge and Tenma sound great, so does Eva. In fact I think Lunge may be my favorite character, whenever he's around things get more exiting.
So your ganna keep watching the dub then? You kinda confused me there. BTW I reserved a copy of the DVD Boxset as well. ;)
BTW what episode does Monster start to get really good? I hear it really starts to get amazing at a certian episode down the line a little. As of now I like it a lot, but have no idea where it's ganna go. Also I got Buterfly FX and Hyzenthlay from Planetzot to watch the show as well ; . We are all talking about it on Butterfly FX's forums ( http://missingzot.com/index.php ) .
