He is most notable for having created YuYu Hakusho, for which he received the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1994,[1] and Hunter × Hunter. According to Shonen Jump,[citation needed] Togashi received the Tezuka Award, the most influential new comic artist award in Japan.
Togashi is married to Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailor Moon (he mentioned their marriage in volume 5 of Hunter x Hunter).
From February 2006 to October 2007 Togashi had been on "sick leave" from his current manga Hunter × Hunter. Hunter x Hunter made its return on October 6, 2007, then quickly went back on hiatus on December 5, 2007. It returned from hiatus on March 3, 2008, only to return to hiatus again on May 8, 2008. After another long break, it was officially announced in Weekly Shonen Jump recently that the series will once again make its return on October 5, 2008, eventually going on hiatus once more December 3, 2008. It is currently unknown when this hiatus will end.

What I never knew was that Level E was made by the mangaka of YYH and HxH O.O
OMG they are fundamentally different. But it's true that YYH and HxH are somewhat similar. HxH is a bit more complex though, but YYH was a prime example for a simple yet amazingly well executed plot.
I heard that the creator is ill, is that true? ._.

Sumpfpflanze: Dude, not offense, but don't expect many people to join your club if all that its about is liking HXH and hating YYH. That is your personal opinion, and not everybody else has to think like that.
And, to be quite honest, I love both works, but neither are perfect. Hunter X Hunter has just as many flaws as YYH, if not more. Both series have weak beginnings, but build up to have strong stories. Yu Yu Hakusho did put a little bit more emphasis on action, but its battles were just as strategic as HXH's, for the most part. Hunter X Hunter had very creative an innovative concepts, but quite a few typcial cliches of shounen (although, not as many as most other shounen). It also had some boring parts in later arcs, which were still mostly good, though.
The thing I love most about Togashi is that he always manages to keep his work feeling fresh, and at least somewhat unique. He is also great at creating entertaining stories, and his characterization is amazing. For example, Sensui from Yu Yu Hakusho is probably one of the deepest and most interesting villains that you will ever find in an action shounen series. It also has many great plot elements, and overall, the does a great job of story-telling. This also goes for Hunter X Hunter. Unfortunately, though, people don't ever take the time to actually look at all of the great value and substance that YYH holds beneath the action, whish is pretty sad, since it performs those aspects better than almost all other shounen that I have seen, so far.
Also, calling YYH the absolute worst shows me that you either haven't seen too many anime, or that you haven't seen very much of YYH, or just didn't pay attention to any of its stronger elements. I mean, I can understand if you dislike it, but saying that its the worst is just overkill. It at least has a plot and character development, and if you have seen truly bad anime, you would know that its actually enough to keep it far from being the worst, since there are anime with the absolute worst types of plots, characters, and overall writing, with absolutely no entertainment value to them. Those are truly the worst anime, since other anime, even if I might not enjoy them, at least have some redeeming qualities to them.
To me, Togashi should be commended for both series. I would rather join a club for people who are fans of Togashi's work, in general, in which people could join, even if they may only like 1 of his series, but not the other, so much. You might want to consider that, when looking at your club description, again, because it really sucks that the only Togashi club that I have found on this site is dedicated to liking only 1 of his series, and actually hating the other one. It would be nice for someone to create a club for people who like both YYH and HXH, and some other work from Togashi (although, I couldn't find most of those other titles, and I couldn't get into Level E, but its short, so I wouldn't count it as a bad work of his).
