Welcome, Welcome!
Jus tryna have fun on this anime journey. Feel free to add and message me, especially if our tastes align! I love a good rec too.
Fun facts about me, 3 truths & 1 lie edition:
-I used to have a pet rhino (RIP Tom)
-I was once shot in the thigh while walking my dog
-I have traveled to all 7 continents without taking a plane
-I can play the piano with only my off-hand while blindfolded
Fun facts about my anime life (all true):
-I add all OPs/EDs to a playlist after watching an anime and I listen to that playlist almost daily.
-I never drop
-I love every anime that I've watched
-My first, and favorite, anime is Neon Genesis Evangelion (hmu with some recs)
-Mommy Misato will always be #1 character in my heart
-I started my journey back in 2021
-I love every single genre
-I pretty much rate based on enjoyment, but quality also comes into play. Regardless of rating tho, like I said, I love all my anime! I am thinking about increasing some ratings of anime that have had a lasting impact on me...
-I'm a sucker for a nice soundtrack
-I keep a note on each anime I watch and write my thoughts after each episode. What started out as a simple sentence or two has now turned into essays LOL
-I'm a sucker for hilarious characters
-I like anime from all eras/years
-I have just now noticed that apparently I'm a sucker for purple-haired characters lol. Completely unintentional
-All my emotions are amplified when watching anime. Something hype gets me to go nuts. Something sad gets me all emotional. Maybe my love for anime just makes my emotions and feelings heightened. I love it this way tho!!
-I'm a sucker for a good profile pic/avatar/signature pic. I love seeing everyone's pics in the forums
-I don’t binge. I watch one episode a day, not counting seasonals (I only watch 2 seasonals max at a time)
-I’m a sucker for a nice personal message in the friend request :)
Anyways, hope that's enough info about me to deserve a FR and convo!
To all those who skipped all that and came to the bottom, LOL

Also so nice to actually find fairy tail fans !!
I wish you all fun in your anime journey (〃ω〃)
What do you like about my profile?
Heyaa nice to meet you!!
And omg Maomao is really great. I've been reading the manga for some time now and got so excited when teh anime got announced
My first anime was One Punch Man back in 2018. A friend introduced it to me. But I only really got into anime around 2020. Been quite a bit of shows since hehe. I personally find it hard to binge in comparison to others. I usually watch from 1 to 5 episodes in a sitting. Depending on the anime. And that's over the course of 3 days, a week or longer.
Ooh, I noticed you like soundtracks. What are your favorite soundtracks?
And the fact you traveled to all continents without a plane is a lie. Right? I actually believe the rhino one. :>
Otherwise I've recently seen the base CLANNAD go on sale, albeit not very much and unfortunately not often, if I remember right. I think it was worth the $45 I spent on it, but you can get it for less with some patience. The bundle being like $200 feels silly, but thankfully you don't need all that. :) Plus if you like what Key does you can always get another one or two of their other VNs later. I've heard good things about most of them from that time!
Some general rules of thumb include these:
1. VNs take a longer time compared to other forms of media (I have roughly 50 hours in CLANNAD and still have one route to go).
2. They can be kinda dry at times - it's essentially like reading a picture book with audio. I love the mixed media genre itself, but it's not a super popular oneand I understand why. You definitely have to take breaks throughout! I find it helps to digest the story and appreciate it a bit more anyway.
3. VNs will typically require a guide to make the 'correct' choices to get each route/ending you desire. These are important, but I always do my first playthrough totally blind - it's a bit of a time sink, sure, but I get enjoyment from it. You can always make a save right before any choices (they give you plenty of save slots), plus you can skip text you've seen before. Both of these make later runs far less repetitive.
Glad to see you've joined the Kyou Crew ;) and SAME when it comes to the favorite slots, having to pick and choose which ones to add/remove is painful. Like, you didn't deserve this little one, I'm sorry ;_; But yes having deeper and more nuanced interactions is a key highlight of the VN, so I definitely recommend it for that aspect too! If you do play the Kotomi route, I recommend also reading the short story "The Dandelion Girl" before you do. The route not only references it directly, but draws lots of themes and messaging from that story, and you just feel more fulfilled going through Kotomi's route with that in the back of your mind.
Anyway, if you get it/watch it have fun! I am just about to play the Nagisa route on the VN (which I did most of on accident anyway before), so afterward I'll probably just watch the rest of CLANNAD and AS. Looking forward to it!
>How would you describe your relationship with Evangelion?
Well for me, Eva is like top 3 favorite across the board. Like not only in anime, but I'd even say its up there with my favorite live action shows and such. You know its just one of those shows that "hits different" lol like the characters and story are so relatable, and umm how should I say this, it just does things that no other show does. Like trust me bro I have never seen anything like that live action scene in the Third Impact. The moment I saw that for the first time, I was like "ok this is something special" lol.
(Also sorry for deleting your comment lol I pressed it by mistake when editing mine)
I've gotten into the VN far before watching the show itself - and Kotomi is my favorite by far, followed by Kyou. :) I love Kotomi's nuanced story, I can relate to her so much and many of her traits I actually yearn to have myself as a person. And I love how natural Kyou's route feels. Like the friend you realize you have feelings for all along.
And yes Fuko has been a blast. Being a VN player I was wondering how the heck they were going to fit everyone in given that they basically spent 10 episodes on Fuko's storyline,
Kudos! Hope you enjoy afterstory :)
Well, looking at your favorites. You seem to enjoy emotional anime and philosophical/psychological as well. Pretty Solid. I can think of a couple of anime along that line.
First off I think you might like Madoka Magica. I think it'll be to your tastes for sure.
Another one you might like is Violet Evergarden. Beautiful in it's story and world imo.
Wolf Children. Showcases the struggles of parenting and finding an identity.
Whisper of the Heart. It's my favorite Ghibli Film. This is a personal suggestion hehe.
Last but not least. Girls Last Tour. While it might be slower, it fits perfectly to its themes and story. In a post apocalyptic world.
I hope you enjoy these when you do watch them, and I'd like to know what you think after.
I'm working on Clannad right now - what makes you enjoy Fuuko as a favorite?
I like that you put the AOTY 2023 in your wall =D .
Hope you a great time in MaL ! You can rec me anything btw.
