Both Cat Street and Octave have main characters that used to work in the entertainment industry when they were younger but they got disillusioned with it. Both mangas are about former female stars who are alienated by their peers and as a consequence withdraw in their shells. Becoming introverts. Both mangas have their main characters slowly coming out of their shells and developing bonds with other people. Both mangas have psychological elements as well as social commentary. I highly recommend them !

Both Magi and Arslan have a war centered conflict, though Magi has more supernatural elements, whereas Arsln feels more history rooted. Both worlds seem to take place in a Middle Eastern based universe, though Arslan seems to be based more on the Persian Empire, and even the more ancient Babylonian and Sumerian Empires, while Magi has a more broad universe, with the Kou Empire being based on the Mongol Empire. Both deal with issues such as politics, slavery and the importance and responsability of being a ruler, though Magi is more light in tone and focuses more on the friendship and adventure side, whereas Arslan is a more serious, politics-driven narrative. The main characters in both series are close in age, Arslan is 14 and Alibaba is 17 in the beginning of the series, they are also both princes, having to overcome political issues and intrigues , in order to help their respective countries. If you enjoyed Magi, you should definitely give a chance to Arslan as well.

In Chihaya's case, she strives to became a "Queen" (the best female karuta player). In order to achieve their dream, they go to various tournaments and have to catch up to defeat their rivals (for Chihaya it is Shinobu; for Hikaru it is Akira). For that purpose, they join the go and karuta clubs (Hikaru joins; Chihaya makes one) for the group tournaments, gathering friends. They are very similar in the development of the main characters that strive to become masters themselves.

If you enjoyed Psycho-Pass, you might as well enjoy No. 6.

Both male characters are easy-going guys that get dragged in supernatural events without their will. If you enjoyed Bakemonogatari, you might enjoy Tasogare Otome x Amnesia as well.

Both mangas give off the same heart-warming feeling when you read them. They also have similar characters, like Arata and Rei. They both were considered a child prodigy in a japanese competitional game, in Arata's case, karuta, in Rei's case, shogi. They both become professional players at a young age. They are also marked by the loss of a close relative. If you enjoyed Chihayafuru you will more than certainly enjoy 3 Gatsu no Lion as well.

Both mangas are centred on the relationship between a guardin and his protegee. In both mangas a male relative has to take care of his younger sibling. The main character's personalities are very similar, Heisuke and Daikichi are in the beginning portrayed as people who don't want to burden themselves with other people's problems, but meeting the children, they choose to look after them, changing their life styles and even the way of thinking about others. They become more considerate, learning the responsibilities as well as the joys of rasing a small child. The children are also similar, both Rin and Aki are being introverted in the beginning, but with the help of their guardian, they open up more to others. The drawing style is also very similar, with soft and gentle lines and textures. The mangas are similar until Usagi Drop's time skip, which I suggest if you love the father-daughter relationship you don't read any further. If you liked "Usagi Drop",you will more than certainly enjoy "flat" as well.

Both characters's paths in life were decided by their families, but with the help of their friends, they are given another choice of the path they''ll follow (in Hunter x Hunter is Killua and in Shaman King is Ren). If you like seeing characters develop, make friends and gain supernatural powers, those two are the animes for you.

Both mangas start with the female lead that marries a younger groom through an arranged engagement. In Otoyomegatari Amira is actually very pleased with her husband, while in The Bride of the Water God it takes time for Soah to accomodate with the idea, falling in love with the adult self of her husband, Habaek, not knowing his true identity. In The Bride of the Water God, Soah was used as a bride by the village in order to appease a water god who doesn't give them rain, in Otoyomegatari there is a political context, the marriage uniting a rural town with a nomadic middle eastern tribe. The Bride of the Water God is more dramatic. Otoyomegatari doesn't have the existence of magic, while in The Bride of the Water God supernatural phenomena is created by various gods. The writing style is quite similar, so make sure to read them both!

The Kouga Arc in Magi remindes me of Otoyomegatari, since they are both from mongolic, turkic tribes. Even if in the world of Otoyomegatari magic doesn't exist, the remote middle eastern nomadic villages have a magic of their own, the mysteries of a distant culture, untouched by the 19th centuary power struggles. They have similar types of characters, both have strong female leads (Morgiana in Magi, Amira in Otoyomegatari) and also young boys that are more mature than their age as main characters (Alladin in Magi and Karluk in Otoyomegatari ). Otoyomegatari is more faithful to history, while Magi alters legends and mythologies to fit its magic based world. If you read them,you'll also see the similarity in the writing style.

In Magi, the humans who conquered a djinn's dungeon, are given magical weapons called "metal vessels", which are fueled by the person's "magoi", a type of energy similar to ki, specific only in this world, because of the existence of rukh, the source of all energy, "home of the souls". Both animes have interesting characters (the characters of Alone and Hakuryuu are similar, since despite being good they are conflicted). The characters experience growth and development,engaging story lines and epic fights. They also have quite a similar drawing style, which is very visually pleasing. If you love fantasy mangas that combine comedy and drama,then you have to start reading both ^^

Both mangas have a romance between two different races, Blood Alone has a quiet, shy princess-like loli vampire (Misaki Minato), and Dance in the Vampire Bund has also a loli vampire (Mina Tepes), but the difference between the two of them is that Mina is a spoiled little sadistic arrogant brat, and Misaki is somewhat the oppsite of her because she hates drinking blood and abstains herself from it, even if at the begining she acted a little spoiled. The other main male characters are similar, because both are humans but they have also supernatural powers. Akira Kaburagi Regendorf from Dance in the Vampire Bund is a werewolf, and Kuroe Kurose from Blood Alone is a vampire hunter, who was the pupil of the most powerful sorceress alive (Chloé), and inhered some of her powers. Both mangas have almost the same atmosphere, and the same forbidden love between prepubescent loli vampires and male teen/adult humans. If you liked Dance in the Vampire Bund you will definitely enjoy reading Blood Alone. And in my subjective opinion, Blood Alone is way better and complex than Dance in the Vampire Bund.

Both shows are set in the same epoch and conjuncture,in the opressive times after the japanese defeat in WWII .Both shows deal with the dark side of the criminal/yakuza underworld .Rainbow is focused more on the emotional struggles and metamorphosis of the characters,while Akagi focuses more on the logical part,showing its analytic side in the strategy of the mahjong games,without excluding the humanity and flaws of the characters.Both shows have the same atmosphere to them.

...then you might like Senkou no Night Raid add

Both animes are based on the interbelic period,in the 1930s.The two animes have quite many similarities,as people with supernatural powers,superhuman ones.In Senkou no Night Raid's case,human with unusual abilities, such as psychic abilities, flying abilities, or exceptional proficiency at something, far beyond the normal.And in Baccano's case,immortality and abnormal endurance and resistance. The action in Baccano is placed in Chicago,New York,but the action in Senkou no Night Raid takes place in Shanghai,China. They both have a mystery aura,and very interesting and deep story plots.Even if the two animes are based on historical events,they won't let you get bored,even more, they simply draws you in.The art is also quite similar.So,if you enjoyed watching Baccano,you must also give a chance to Senkou no Night Raid,you won't regret it !

Both are early 90's mangas with classic shōjo yaoi manga genre. They are both revolutionary mangas, because of the uniqueness of the premise and plot. They also have spin-offs and sequels because of their huge popularity among 90' japanese readers and fans. But unfortunately now the 21 century readers are quite ingnorant about this grandiose mangas. These mangakas are the pioneers of dramatic/action shōjo manga. Strong and highly spirited, red-blooded mangas with epic seinen/shounen-like scenes, they are definitely one of the best shounen ai mangas .In Animal X, there are more sexual related yaoi undertones, but even in Banana Fish there are some shounen ai moments...Even if you aren't a yaoi addict, the story is just so good that it simply draws you in. The artwork is similar,realistical and unique, you can say quite stylish, even if the plot ,characters and actions are seinen-like, we're still talking about shoujo manga drawn by women. If you didn't read yet, you must definitely read them both ! These mangas are hidden jewels, masterpieces that must not be ignored. Have a delightful reading ~

Both mangas have the same art work and style and both gives you the same feeling of peace and freedom, reflecting a calm, serene, and meditative aura .They both include gods and supernatural events.The main characters have similar development and similar personality:they are merciful,courageous and selfless.And have the role to be a intermediator between gods and humans. Takashi Natsume (the main character of Natsume Yuujinchou manga) has inhered a book of youkai and Sasara Yuukei (the main character of Otogibanashi no Fude manga) has inhered a magic brush,with this they can communicate with supernatural beings. They both are refreshing and serene mangas.
