Well I would say that series for people that like cute anime and if you just want to feel good while watching something without much drama at least in Aikatsu. I have only watched the first 3 eps of Precure so I can't say for sure if it is the case for this one too.

The first month I spent studying in the holidays consisted of reading through Tae Kim's Guide and every other good website that covered N5 grammar over and over again whenever I forgot a grammar point. That was, in retrospect, a level of determination I don't think I could ever hope to replicate again. I think it did help massively when I actually started seeing some (relatively) pretty amazing results in just a month.

I say "Japanese", but it mostly consists of anime music, huh. I included it as part of my "study regime" because, aside from watching anime in Japanese and trying to understand what they say without looking at the subtitles, I actually don't do much in the way of learning the language most of the time. It's hard to get back into a routine after falling off the wagon, y'know.

I listen to this one a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHcN8Ve-fgM
Yanagi Nagi is one of my favourite artists.

This one, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjNVPO8ff84

I used to listen to REOL's songs a lot too, but, well, I can't actually access her channel in Australia anymore :<
They're good because they all have lyrics so it's easy to jisho.org them.

There are also a ton of Umineko vocal songs, but not too many of them have lyrics, unfortunately.

In terms of web novels, Reika-sama seems easy enough to read. It was the one where I recognised the most words without having to look much up, and it's a great web novel, too. Not overly complicated, but probably my favourite web novel.

If you get stuck, oniichanyamete translated the first 200 chapters with a ton of helpful TL notes along the way for any references: https://oniichanyamete.moe/index/kenkyo-kenjitsu/

It's probably a great place to start. Though I haven't looked at anything beyond the first chapter in Japanese, honestly. I've already read the first 100 chapters in English three times, so I'll have to wait a bit longer before tackling it in Japanese is enough to entice me.

Personally, I'm trying to somehow work my way through ヒロインな妹、悪役令嬢な私: https://ncode.syosetu.com/n4374cs/
Though I think I might give up after the first few chapters and give my all at reading: http://ncode.syosetu.com/n5708cr/

Broke into a ramble for a bit there. Sorry 'bout that.

I personally don't have the patience to work with Anki enough to understand and come to like it. I've tried using it a few times, but I'm the kind of person who'd rather pay for Core 2k than use Core 10k with Anki. Everything about it just drains me whenever I boot it up. iKnow's interface is a lot homelier.

For the record, I did try to do Core 2k through Anki, but my motivation died a quick death, for whatever reason. Managed to get through half of Core 2k in iKnow, but look where that's gotten me...

did you like the song? (sorry if I'm bothering you, just curious)
ExecCute Mar 9, 2018 7:04 PM
This song always gives me shivers
ExecCute Mar 9, 2018 6:57 PM
Sure! There's a huge variety though, could you narrow down what you want a little more? Like, fast paced, slow paced, dramatic, exciting?

My profile hasn't been updated in almost two years, but I didn't really start learning Japanese seriously until February last year. You'd expect me to be almost N3 or higher at this point, but I ended up taking a break from July-November. Kind of because of the annoying final exam period, but since I didn't end up studying for that much either, I guess I was just being lazy again. So I had to re-learn a bunch too.

My study time mostly consists of listening to Japanese music at work, and occasionally brute-forcing my way through a web novel chapter with dictionary (metaphorically) in hand.

I have 999 reviews stacked up for Wanikani, an email today told me. IKnow informs me that I have 700 reviews waiting.

Hmm?

Did I ever say that it was too much effort, or that I wouldn't do it?

Or maybe you think I've given up learning it now? In which case, I'd like to say I'm not, and that I'm just pretty lazy so I don't end up studying or reading all that much.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
