Report Narknit's Profile

Hello, I've been watching anime since the late 90s/early 2000s. Though some of that was back when Saturday mornings weren't for sleeping in, 4Kids was a thing, and Toonami was on Cartoon Network. It's been a while. Not as long as others, but still a while nonetheless.

I'm a sporadic anime fan nowadays that'll occasionally (and randomly) go on a binge. In my younger years, I watched a lot more than I could hope to have the time for currently. I still enjoy a good anime (or 7) from time to time. But with adding in trying to catch up with and watch a myriad of non-anime as well as balance an introverted social life with full time work, I have way less time for shows in general now. As such I have to pick and choose what to watch to a degree. Though I'm always up for good recommendations. C'est la vie.

Rating System:
In the past, I used to judge series based on a strong, purposed bias that I outgrew with time. Now, I try to be (as relatively as you can) more open and fair minded with my ratings and what I watch as well as take more things into account when choosing a score. Personal enjoyment still weighs a lot with a series as does story engagement, world building, character development, art, and music. I especially enjoy stories that break a mold, have an unexpected story or twist, a unique or pleasing art style, and/or are surprisingly entertaining. Sometimes too, I just like a series because it's heartwarming and/or easy to be engulfed by the production. Not every rating is articulate beyond my amusement.

Generally, the more personal enjoyment I got from a show, for whatever reason(s), the higher the rating. Pretty straightforward, right. There are a lot of possible reasons why I chose my rating.

I watch anime mostly to relax and/or to keep me entertained while working on various craft projects. If it's a 5 or below, that's a safe bet I got bored and/or didn't like something about the series. If a series can keep my attention to where I'm not working on my project, then I'm super impressed and rate accordingly. Most of my craft projects are mindless ways to fidget so I can focus; with the bonus of a final product. It's very rare to find a production where even a mindless project feels distracting.

Usually, I only watch a series once and rate it based on my initial experience watching it. I might find a series that I'll re-watch though that is quite rare. Regardless of if a re-watch is highly unlikely, the series score might change if I were to watch it again. As such, some of my ratings have changed while others have not. I've decided that I don't have to go back and change old scores to reflect new perspectives. (Yes, some of my previous scores confused me too and I have changed a few.) I'd rather expand my horizons instead of re-watching what I've already watched just to score it differently.

No. 6 is alright. The atmosphere really drew me in at the beginning, but the show spent too long just wandering around.

Ao no Ex is pretty good. It's slickly produced and the plot/characters are well-executed and likable.

I love Tiger and Bunny. A lot. As long as the ending isn't botched, I think it's one of the top three shows of 2011.

Hahaha, thanks for the compliments, though in reality you'll find that I'm not as interesting as my reviews make me out to be.

I see you have Aria the Animation listed as one of your favorite anime. I think we are going to get along just fine =3

Ok, you liked Angel Beats. If you watch Haibane Renmei and Haruhi, you will not so much anymore.
