I learned about the existence of MAL badges from the 2021 edition of Secret Santa and ever since I've been trying my best to collect them all. The penguin ornament might just be my favorite so far though, it's honestly adorable. (⁠人⁠*⁠´⁠∀⁠｀⁠)⁠｡⁠*ﾟ⁠+ I know right, they're a commitment but I'm so deep that it's merely a pleasure to be so devoted, haha. What gacha games have you played?

I can relate! I don't really keep shows on my plan to watch because I don't want to feel pressured to watch things, but aside from seasonal watching I only finished around 20 shows last year. It's not a lot compared to the time I was most active – back in 2019 I finished that many in July alone?! I'm happy with my slower pace though, anime will easily begin to feel like a chore if you're forcing yourself to watch things just for the sake of it. My best advice a now-recovering anime completionist: watch whatever you want whenever you want! (⁠｡-ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧

It can be quite fun going into shows blind, especially if they're the type with thrilling plot twists. For example, I only watched Summertime Render because of its moderate hype combined with the cool art style and was thoroughly impressed after watching the first episode and learning what its actually about. (ﾟ⁠οﾟ⁠人⁠))

So it was your first year taking part in the Secret Santa event? Was it like you expected? The first time I signed up, I got a recipient with a mean score around 3,5 and had to recommend them something I couldn't even wholeheartedly vouch for myself because they had seen all the better shows off my list already. (⁠￣⁠ヘ⁠￣⁠;⁠) A lot has changed since then: this year I was even thinking of volunteering as an anime elf since I'm usually pretty idle around the holidays and do not mind repetitive tasks but I was occupied by a sudden happenstance gacha-addiction, so I'll have to think about it again next year.

Ooh, that's nice! You do have quite a lengthy planning list, I'd be impressed if someone managed to recommend a show you haven't heard about. I haven't seen either of them aside from the opening scene of Space☆Dandy, but I know that they both have banger opening songs!

I'll keep you updated on my thoughts once I get around to the rest of your recommendations – although Danganronpa might have to wait in case I want to get into the games at some point. Have you played them or just watched the anime?

Thanks for recommending something less out-there! Even though I've heard of all your three recommendations before, I doubt I would've ever checked any of them out if it wasn't for your suggestion.

So far I've gotten around to finishing D-Frag! and it was quite charming. It even reminded me a little bit of one of my all-time favorite shows, The Disastrous Life of Saiki Kusuo, in the sense that the comedy is heavily based on an eccentric tsukkomi being surrounded by a bunch of even dorkier characters. Though in D-Frag's case, I was at first worried about the comedy being way too centered around uncomfortable dirty jokes (character's only trait being her big breasts, unlucky pervert moments, making light of framing someone of sexual assault etc. – can't really stand that kind of humor), but thankfully they weren't as present after the first couple episodes. To be honest, the iffy nature of some of the skits in the first two episodes almost made me give up on the show altogether, but I'm glad I didn't because once I got into it, it was indeed an easy watch just like you promised – I found myself clicking on episode after another!

D-Frag! has a surprising amount of depth to it for a gag anime and I really appreciate it. The character-heavy moments give the show a lot of additional value making it a more unique experience. After the initial stiffness, once Kazama (probably my fav character from the show altogether btw, I adore the soft delinquent vibe!!) grows accustomed to the antics of the club, both the characters and their dynamics really take off and get going! Some of the banter between characters is really engaging: especially Roka and Kazama have some genuinely heartwarming, credible interactions together.

Overall, just like any comedy show, my enjoyment was heavily reliant on whether I found the ongoing skit funny or not. There were some parts I found a little boring, but the show did get some major chuckles out of me at 1AM as well, so it must've been doing something right! Giving recommendations is tough, but I would say you did a good job on finding an anime suited to my tastes, so thank you for the good work. (｡•̀ڡ-)b
