GungHo Online Entertainment announced at a press conference on Friday that its latest puzzle role-playing game Puzzle & Dragons Cross will be adapted into a TV anime by Studio Pierrot. The series is scheduled to air on TV Tokyo on Mondays at 6:25 p.m. beginning July 4.

Two versions of Puzzle & Dragons Cross, titled Kami no Shou and Ryuu no Shou, will be released on Nintendo 3DS on July 28. The game's opening animation will be produced by the same team as the TV anime. A manga adaptation by Momota Inoue will begin serialization in the May 2016 issue of Coro Coro Comic, which will go on sale on April 15.

Puzzle & Dragons was originally released as a mobile game on the iOS and Android platforms in 2012. GungHo Online reports that the game has been downloaded more than 30 million times in Japan and is ranked as one of the top grossing apps.

So this might be another ongoing from Pierrot? I just hope this doesn't take away from Naruto's budget.

Considering Divine Gate was a game with some actual story content and they're doing a pretty awful job at that (playing the game in Japanese without any idea what the events were just playing the strategy or w.e and getting tidbits from friends) I can't see this being much better. Aiming for a younger audience was probably a good idea though, at least they'll have a shot at having a successful audience. I dunno about Pokemon-ing the games though, its pretty much fine as a mobile game.

To answer previous questions, there is no level cap though nobody on any server has gotten past the 900's because of how insanely high the experience curve gets later on. There are a few players in the mid 900s rank wise. There's always a ton of new content. I've been playing for just shy of two years and am a few days away from rank 400 myself. I was god awful in the beginning, especially as a free-to-play player being at a huge disadvantage, but that amps up the strategy aspect and its been a lot of fun. I'm sure this will have some success with its target audience and I'll probably pull up an episode to cringe at, at some point.

Good, Studio Pierrot returned to its previous form of having 2 long running anime. Well in reality with Osomatsu-san high chances of also being long running, they will have 3. I believe only 2 times in the company such a thing happened with: Hikaru no go, Naruto and Bleach. And with: Blue Dragon, Naruto and Bleach.

Now we just have to see if this series is popular and is able to get more than 1 year of running.

Hikaru no go was already over when Bleach started though and Bleach, Naruto and Beelzebub were airing at the same time too.

Then that instead!

The game is fun, I've played for several months until I deleted my account because I cannot level up anymore. I'm not sure if I would watch the anime, though.

What's the max level in the game?

If they are talking about rank, I don't think there's a cap to it. There are players with a 500+ rank and still ranking up.
The game cranks out enough new stuff that players who have finished the normal dungeons will still have new dungeons to beat.

Puzzle & Dragons is probably the only app game that held my interest for more than a month (been playing it 2+ years) but yeah, this anime looks on the level of Youkai Watch or Pokemon. It looks like the anime is mostly based on the 3DS game which I never played. Guess I will give the first episode a try, but not expecting much.

Yeah this looks like something aimed at younger audience.

Looks okay I guess.

Seems interesting atleast, may give it a watch since game adaptations don't usually turn out well.

Might give it a few episodes to see how it goes.

It seems anime for kids like pokemon.

This isn't a late night show and having a manga adaptation on Coro Coro clearly means they are mostly aiming for children.

I don't know, I'm not good at problem solving games like puzzle games. I was able to play until some of the lower levels, but not the high levels. So I don't even know the max level is. There's also some time limited tie-up collaboration rounds.

I have no idea what the nintendo version looks like but the mobile version is a typical toilet game. You just kill some time with it instead of reading... There isn't even anything there to base plot on. Obviously it's just a marketing tie-in. The only way to make something like that watchable is to give up any pretense, take the hottest looking character designs and make it a simple fanservice show... Well, it will suck.

Looks garbage but I guess I'm not the target market

Another game adaptation from Studio Pierrot? Seeing how Divine Gate is turning out right now, I think it would be in my best interest to avoid this.
