According to announcements from VIZ Media, anime "Ranma ½" will be made available on Blu-ray this spring. The announcement was made at a panel hosted by VIZ Media at the New York Comic Con on Friday.

The anime is also to be remastered in high-definition and will retain its original 4:3 aspect ratio as well as the same English voices from the original. The remastered version will debut on Neon Alley next Friday, October 18, 2013.

Users please note, this is not the original Japanese version of the anime but the official English dub. The Japanese version is already available on Blu-ray.

One of my favorite shows ever, I'm so excited! I love you Viz for including the dub.

I want to get my hands on this, no matter how expensive!

This is super cool. Good to see Ranma getting some support still. Same VAs makes this excellent.

Vengeance of everyone's grudge.

I'm guessing since there are so many episodes, then the blu-ray will be very expensive.

That's pretty awesome to hear since it was one of the first anime I picked up about 7 years ago. So I might invest in getting it.

Guess this makes sense given the Urusei Yatsura BDs.

Kind of expecting this since its initial announcement in August. Seems that they'll probably use the HD masters that were done in Japan recently (2 box sets are released, one more to go) which those sets do not have dubs nor subtitles. To have Viz make these for America is convenient.

I think the title is a bit confusing because in Japan the Blu-ray remastering of Ranme 1/2 has already been done and released as BD box back in June and Sept: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00AQSMRL6 http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00AQSNO6I/

I would say it is better that the title makes it clear that the release is for R1 region.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Probably no more expensive than buying ~6 26-episode series would be, and it'll certainly be cheaper than the Japanese sets.

Finally, the Japanese versions were really expensive and didn't look good. Great show that got a shitty English dub and never got its proper North American exposure. Great news!

Ranma 1/2 was the first exposure I ever had to manga, which again got me into anime. It's one of my favorite manga and anime series of all time, so this is interesting!
